Then, we went to lake mead, hoover's dam, and we stopped in a little village in Arizona called "Peach Springs" on route 66. Just after this, we visited Death Valley, L.A, San Francisco, and Yosemite national Park. Second time, we went to NYC & Miami. Hi there! It has nothing to do with the destruction of 9/11. But I would say that people who build one of US's prides were Americans. It is somehow shown at the very end of "Gangs of NY", the small shouses turns in small buildings, turning into larger buildings ... and to skyscrapers.
By the way, there is a version w/o the very last part.

its funny how europeans always think they "built" america. The first residents had an entire society - we had laws, teachers, doctors, religious leaders. It was an entire society but because it wasn't a "Christian" society westerners thought my ancestors were nothing more than savages and yet had they not bent over backwards to help the pilgrims survive the brutal winters there would never have been the western world that exists today

They still put themselves in a lot of danger. They couldn't have really predicted that the towers would collapse but they stayed where they were needed and really going against your gut feelings to do what you know is the right is in it's own right an unselfish act.

not true... need to study some more.. Amerigo Vespucci was a cartographer, the first one to go around Latin America and draw its map, hence the name. And, technically, Colombus was not the discoverer of America either, the vikings came before, and also, of course, native americans many centuries ago...
