exile my fave, matey, but too much 1940's negro blues club imitation...this woulda been even beetter with out the brass....but I can dig it--- mick an' keef grew up in the 1940's...me: the 60's.......I woulda cut the brass out and emphasized keef' s slide guitar work.....never good when white boys try to be too negro- esp. brit white boys
The Stones were inspired by "Negro blues" as you say. Who cares what race the Stones are? EVERYONE gets the blues. The only problem is not giving blues artists credit!
OK w/ you if "Negroes" listen to Bach? Ok if these "Negroes" get inspiration from Irish Folk music?
Keith is #10 on Rolling Stones list of 100 greatest guitar players. His 5 string open G riffs with fantastic tone got him there. Mick Taylor playing over those riffs was pure magic.
@grubbetuchus nah, pretty sure he aint talkin bout smack. keiths a family man. hes singin about human compassion and romance... i have no idea why you'd connect this song to diacetylmorphine, other than the cold fact that was keiths diesel. something tells me anita and marlon made him happier than a flood of dopamine.
Great version. Best yearz of the stones was with Mick Taylor. Keith rocks on this and I love Mick on background vocals. I wonder if Linda Mcartney got her hairdo from Keith or Keith got the idea from Linda?
The fuckin STONES in their prime!!! Can u believe they were selling tickets for this at like 15 20 dollars a ticket??? God bless both Micks and the stones for being able to be here listening to this now. Best Stones era ever with Mick Taylor!!!!!!!!!
I feel AWESOME as I listen to it !! its like in heaven y'know ! I am sure they're HAPPY while playing this song as I am now when I am listening to it !! :) <3 Long Live the Stones forever !! :* :*
ok ok, i have to say this one was better then number 2 actually but they were both AMAZING!! great footage! and thanks RWeGhosts, i subscribed, hope to see some more good videos :)
Keith still had his voice then and played like a man possessed! The Smack hadn't taken it's full toll yet. It did on the '75 tour though. He could barely stand but they NEVER cancelled and always put on a decent show on that tour anyway. Much better in'72
Fuck me running! Never seen this footage, and I'd thought I'd seen pretty everything from the 70s. This one's definately different because the idiot cameraman who did Ladies and Gentlemen was on Jagger for 95 percent of the time, but this one starts off correctly, showing Keith.
@stringsrichie I agree!!! I think the period from 69-75 were the best years for the Stones. With the beginning of Black and Blue, the Stones were never the same.
I agree! My two favorite Doors albums are Morrison Hotel and L.A. Woman, the last two they did. A lot more low down-dirty bluesy. "Maggie M'Gill" from Morrison Hotel and "Been Down So Long" from L.A. Woman are two examples where the harsh-ish voice sounds awesome. Damn I love those albums!
hmmm is one of the best jams...reading life...understand the song better now
