RWT, a 12 gauge with slugs has no where near the knock down power of the rifles used in these hunts. Yes, you are seeing side by sides, (called doubles) but in rifles such as the 470 and 500 nitros. Many times the knock down and penetration of a 12 guage.
In cover that thick it might be better to have a 12 gauge with slugs....you are not going to be shooting far. One guy did appear to have a SxS shotgun but I'd want a pump or semi....something with more than just 2 shells. But probably illegal in whatever country this is.
they do pay big bucks to hunt them and usually only take the cape and head home, the guides take the meat and alot of the leftovers to villages and the locals benefit from it more than the hunters one more reason to not adopt a starving african kid
I'm kind of on the fence about how I feel about hunting. If the people are hunting a lion that had been attacking a village I see why it is necessary to put it down, however if they are just trophy hunters looking to kill a lion so they can hang it's hide up on their wall then I think there is something wrong with that. @ 2:26, it appears the guy shot the big cat right in the center of the head -- above the eyebrows.. disregard the sound effects, and watch for the cats head flinch and try to stop it at that point. It certainly appears you can clearly see an entrance wound.. awesome shot, caught on camera, and battle scars to go with it.. that guy got his money's worth!

While using a Foxpro Coyote caller I had a Cougar come up behind me, within a couple of feet. Let's just say that looking over your shoulder and seeing a big Cat that close makes a person's heart skip a beat.

RWT, a 12 gauge with slugs has no where near the knock down power of the rifles used in these hunts. Yes, you are seeing side by sides, (called doubles) but in rifles such as the 470 and 500 nitros. Many times the knock down and penetration of a 12 guage.

they do pay big bucks to hunt them and usually only take the cape and head home, the guides take the meat and alot of the leftovers to villages and the locals benefit from it more than the hunters one more reason to not adopt a starving african kid

I'm kind of on the fence about how I feel about hunting. If the people are hunting a lion that had been attacking a village I see why it is necessary to put it down, however if they are just trophy hunters looking to kill a lion so they can hang it's hide up on their wall then I think there is something wrong with that. Thats just my opinion though.
