  • were buying them cracks and that for nothing

  • look at this guy any more stuff we need to buy

  • LOWES WANTS YOU TO SAVE A LOT OF MONEY BY SEALING YOUR DRIVEWAY YOURSELF SO YOU CAN SPEND YOUR MONEY AT LOWES BUYING A BUNCH OF JUNK TO DO IT AND THEY NOT TELL YOU THAT THOSE FILLERS IN THAT SEALER WILL CRACK PERFICTLY GOOD ASPHALT, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW I ONLY BEEN PAVING DRIVEWAYS FOR THIRTY YEARS.

  • What a dork just call us

  • i install driveways for a living, and sealcoating is where ALOT of people waste alot of their time buying this garbage. the whole purpose of sealing your driveway is to water proof it. how can you waterproof your driveway if the sealant is made with water? yeah water based is cheaper and all, but its BAD for your driveway, its toxic to your skin and lungs, and it does NOTHING to your driveway. worse yet, if your drive is new, water based sealer will actually make it soft, creating cracks!

  • Good instructions, but too bad they didn't mention that one of the primary sealant materials, coal tar sealant, has been banned in many communities due to its toxicity. Just google "coal tar sealant ban" or "coal tar free america" for more info. You can search youtube for a series of videos about why this is a problem too. Type in "USGS coal tar" for those.

  • I have a hole in my driveway about 4" deep. At the bottom of the hole is loose gravel. Can I apply cold patch product on top of the gravel? Or should I put soil on top of the gravel?

  • Well i did this today. I checked the weather forcast and it said sunny in the 80s. Well as soon as i finished laying the first coat it started raining like a mofo. Anyways im wondering what sort of damage the rain might have done? Is all my hard work totally ruined now cause of the rain?

  • I have a question i am gonna paint a metal shed and i was wondering if i can get away with using sealer it doesnt have to be perfect i just want it to not crack or fad for a year or 2 you think i could do that? please respond!

  • Spring Masters Canada. All I have to say really. They did an amazing job on our driveway though yes it was a bit costly, I found it worth it.

  • @Raptors0411 Your lucky that they did a good job one your asphalt. I've seen some of the work they did around my city, mostly a lot of over spray on the garage door and interlock. Customers trying to call them back to clean it but they never came back. Their price is to much for their poor work that they do. They can't properly fix cracks, and their material is so much diluted that it only last 1 season.

  • @theslinx Really? I thought the guys did a great job. They only seemed to be around 20 years old, but before they even went into the actual sealing, they cleaned up my driveway, and then taped it up before they actually started on the driveway. Hahah, lets hope mine last more than one season, or Spring Masters Canada and I might have a problem.

  • I don't "fart around" with squeegee's or brushes for applying driveway sealer. I just use a paintbrush to cut in & a paint roller/driveway applicator to apply the asphalt sealer (2 coats). Acrylic/latex driveway sealers are usually slippery in wet/winter weather and are a hazard to senior citizens. Driveway sealer spray contractors usually "thin" the driveway sealer with varsol and it is not usually a bargain at any price at the door.Hear me now...thank me later.

  • This is a very thorough video. Good for repair work to your driveway. But, when I did my driveway myself it cost $100 in material. Could have had it done for $100. Now I call a company to lay it down. But for the repair, this is good information.

  • All that cleaner can't be good for your lawn...

  • thats an areet job that like mate well done :D

  • thats horrible sealer that stuff dosent last as long as the stuff that i and many other pro asphalters purchase dont waste time or money in this junk call a local contractor for best results

  • I wanna know why they sell driveway sealer in backbreaking 5 gallon buckets. Stuff must weigh 50-60#. And nothing which comes in a bucket is gonna seal real cracks for any length of time. Been there, done that!

  • this video makes me laugh.......lets see the to do list......go to lowes..buy sealer,crack filler,brushes,broom,safety goggles,gloves etc

then go back home break out the pressure washer, clean the driveway, let it dry, prep oil spots, pull weeds, clean cracks etc'

then ruin a pair of boots, pants socks, and most likely shirt ,break your back brushing this junk on your driveway leaving brush marks all through the driveway lloks horrible and just as costly.

ill do this driveway for 250-300 w/tarcontie

  • this will ruin your driveway. you should seal your driveway with tar based sealent that would cure in your driveway. this is water based. its going to lay on the top of your driveway. during summer and winter time the driveway expands and contracts, this doesn't allow it to do that procces, in that case your driveway will have "elphant skin cracks" wich can't be repaired !

  • I am a 5th generation asphalt maintenance pro by the time you buy everything you need to do the project and mess up a pair of shoes and clothes not to mention all the back breaking labor you can just hire a pro for the same price and revive a quality job not a Mickey mouse do it yourself job

  • omg this is the worst, don't seal your driveway with any material in a bucket out there, call a professional, the acrylic, or latex will destroy your driveway more than anything else.

  • well i think the substance that they are using is tar based because you should actually use liquid asphalt and it should be sprayed over your driveway

  • How warm should the weather be to seal? Should the buckets of sealer be warm or hot?

  • @corydwalker

The warmer the better! If you have a newer condition driveway I would never recommend sealing it with the buckets.

  • @SealTECHsealcoating just checked out your facebook page. You say you are against acrylic driveway sealers in buckets, yet you recommended the rustoleum product...but if you read about the product, it too is an acrylic product.

  • @svtcontour I understand the confusion you might be having about the two types of materials. The sealant that comes in the 5 gallon buckets is a LATEX emulsion product. Latex and Acrylic are totally different sealants. The Acrylic Rustoleum product is way more durable than the latex sealants and therefore does not need to be applied as thick (Heavy Nap Roller). Latex on the other hand requires a brush or squeegee and after even the first time of applying the sealant, tiny cracks will be forming.

  • @SealTECHsealcoating I have not even seen any latex products at least around here. I see only Acrylic and Tar based. So any acrylic based products should then be ok I assume.

  • @svtcontour My supplier actually sources our material from Canada and I have many requests on my website from Canadians interested in Acrylic. The largest Latex sealant company that I'm aware in the states is Latex-ite, hence the name ; )

Many people I come across still do not know the difference between the two so I feel it is my responsibility to educate homeowners. When they find out that their driveways can last 40 years or more and not just 15-20 by using the buckets, they see the value.

  • I'm in the sealing business and I agree with this video except for when he said you could apply it when the pavement is still wet, NEVER apply sealer to a wet surface it doesn't cure out as good as it could if it were applied to a dry surface. sealer wont last as long as if you had applied it to a dry surface.

  • Im black and sealcoat is black

    am I sealcoat

    or am I just black

  • Thick is not always better... Many home owners are ruining their brand new driveways by using the buckets! Yuck!

  • Any one want to give me a free estimate? Ask for my email. Haven't sealed my driveway for about nine years. Yea it has some cracks. Will sealing your driveway make the puddles of rain disappear? How many coats of sealer should one put on? Answers would be very helpful.

  • as an asphalt sealing expert i think this video is kind of shitty, just the product he use and how thick it was..

  • Holy crap...THANK YOU.

  • man i am going to loose some business

    with this video!

  • as an expert in the field of asphalt sealing i spread the sealer going down the drive 4 ft long and as wide as the drive pushing the sealer and pulling some back then i do a side to side broom to get rid of any foot prints i do all of this with a push broom - if you rinse it when your done you can use it still .. i do 750 +/- driveways every year for the last 25 years ..

  • I don't get what you said - you pour 4 ft by the width? Isn't this too much to work with. You don't move the material side to side like in the video?

I am using Black Knight Airport grade - what do you think of it?

  • gj love the vidoes
