I noticed Brian's shirt says "Hideaway Pizza." Hideaway Pizza is a very popular chain here in Oklahoma established in Stillwater in 1957 near the campus of OK State University, but I can't imagine that its the same Hideaway Pizza that's on his shirt. Anybody know?
I saw them in Grimsby just a few weeks before they released Runaway Boys and they are still my favourite Rockabilly band today. They paved the way for bands like the Polecats and influenced loads of others. Big respect to ya guys. The music still sounds amazing for a 3 piece trio.
Am I the only one that thinks they paid those people in front to dance? Anyway, great song. Brian Setzer is a massively underrated guitarists, he does some crazy stuff.
@50sfan14 why are you proud? and most of todays music doesn't suck, but the stuff you hear in medias that aren't straight music (television, video games, movies, commercials, radio) usually aren't the best representation of good music. in my opinion, the bands that are REALLY good bands are better than the bands that people thought were REALLY good in the last century. the good bands today realize that in order to not be redundant, they need to step it up, and they have
@ShackNastyVideos I am just tired of all the justin beibers the mayday parades and all of the other gay emo bands that make up todays music. Im used to listening to straight up good rock and roll not todays gay shit, like i said, with some exceptions
@LatinoKansasBoy your mother-in-law works at Taco Bell? No wonder you've got the runs! Now run along and spew your useless poop somewhere else. And ease up on the taco sauce, mmm-k?
Music is generational. Every generation thinks there music was the best. It was the best for them at that time, that applies to every generation. You can't really compare one generations music to another. If you try, you end up sounding like a moron, and there are alot of them on youtube.
Well I luv the music of my generation, but I also luv the music my parents showed me of their generation. And i'm pretty sure if I ever have kids I will luv their music as well! If the music is good enough, it's timeless !!
@Tickbryan off course you can compare music generations to each other for example: compared to this todays musig SUCKS an anyone that listen to it doesn't know what music is.

Watching this tells me that although R&R in the `50`s was cool, it wasn`t perfected yet to the pure emotion that Punk would bring 20 years later and perfected even more by Nirvana. I mean fuck me, watch this then go watch Aneurysm by NIrvana live and tell me what is better. Stray Cats seem like Stray faggots next to that. It doesn`t even seem like Rock and Roll anymore but more like lame lounge. And I can see where Eddie Murphy got his "Why do all you white people dance like this..." comment.
nirvana sellouts sons of MTV shit that is the type of bands that kill rock'n'roll, kurt kill himself and kill good rock he was a product of TV, not 20+ years of hard work

the thought of Nirvana perfecting anything other than bland, sloppy, boring music makes me laugh. The Stray Cats on the other hand know how to be entertaining.
Just to letcha know, the Cats played Long Island clubs for years before landing in the UK.(I Saw them as the 'TomCats' in 79
As for that crack about white people not being able to dance, that's not true..Brian's doin fine while singing and playing the git-box., ELvis could dance... it seems white people are the only artist's left who can play instruments.. accept for Alesha Keys - but her music sucks, so all those piano lesson her mammie got her went to waste.
It was weird to see these guys become popular in the US after they'd been a favorite of strict rockabilly revivalists, especially in the UK, for a couple of years. Before they got big in the US, you'd only see pictures of them at British rockabilly fests where everyone seriously dressed like they stepped right out of the 50s, getting every last detail right. The closest thing to that kind of purist look today would be Dita Von Teese, who can make herself look just like 1950s Betty Page.

White people cant dance.
But damn I love this style of music. This and social D both have that50s rockabilly style about them. It's sad that I'm 20 and... this is really it. You're never gonna see another band bring this style back.
This performance on TV's show "Fridays" introduced Stray Cats to America, as they had to go to England to make it big first. ( Their albums in some US record stores were imports ) They did not have an American record deal yet, that is, until this aired one Friday night-

The first thing I noticed was how skinny Brian looked back then. The second thing I noticed was that he was already more than brilliant. Damn, I wish I could play like that, he was hardly older than I am now.
Learn your guitar scales and you can play like him. He improvised solos at times using scales, Not sure if he always did but the improvised solos that I've heard sounded good.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Stray Cats back in late 1980's; I even bought a 1959 Gretsch guitar just like Setzer played, and learned to play some of their songs on guitar. Stray Cats-phenomenomal!!! I enjoyed their music immensely back in the day. But--now I rarely listen to their music, and I seldom listen to rock music--because I have grown out of that......to me it became idolatry. I want to have higher priorities that God wants me to put higher than worshiping music & musicians.

I adore Brian's guitars. Like his playing skills are amazing, don't get me wrong, and I love the Stray Cats. I am simply mentioning I like the guitars he plays.
It's amazing that the energy here can't be found in any other band. THAT'S why i love the STray Cats. I also think it's great that Brian is being related to Green day et al. But, they're just young pretenders at the side of the Cats. Viva La Banana.

The Stray Cats' drummer was soooo under-rated! It is very hard to play the drums standing up! Thats why most drummers sit down.
I put him up there with the likes of Keith Moon, John Bonham and Buddy Rich.

Slim Jim is special indeed, but no matter how much i love the cats, one of my favorite bands, he is NOWHERE Near Bonham or Moon!
He plays like 2 different things in all songs, even i can do those things, it's not hard at all.
But you -can't- beat Bonhams groove.
Or Bill Ward for that matter!

He looks like Billie Joe Armstrong here.
