  • I don't like the tempo...loses the song's "heavy-set"

  • Was she jewish ?

  • one of the great'est b-boy \ club songs in N.Y.C. ever !!!!. but of course ....it was played allot slower.

  • Dave Hewitt now pretends to remodel kitchens in Atlanta, taking money from customers for work he never intends to complete. He's a thief with outstanding warrants. Sad but true.

  • Live....all the money.....!

  • The Ennio Morricone part is really great on that rock style !!

  • The guitarist is named Alan Shacklock and he is my teacher in school. I go to SAE in Nashville. It's an audio technology school. He is an awesome guy.

  • @Zakk76Wylde I was in 0908FT, when did you go to SAE?

  • @bonnaroojoo I'm 0411FT. You've been out awhile longer than me. Lol

  • has nobody out there recognised who he is covering during the guitar solo?

  • @unoantares ya its titoli of ennio moricone!

  • @unoantares I'm pretty sure whatever you're thinking of , they covered him. I highly doubt that this song would become the national B-Boy anthem if he were covering someone else. much more likely to be the other way around.

  • Timeless intro, exellent guitar playing. And that my friends were the rocking 70's for the younger generations to discover. Be Amazed.

  • Que canción. Buen video. Gracias por subirlo

  • This song is the start of Hip Hop believe it or not

  • @ceecoursian Not the start.. It was used in the parks.. dj's used this as one of their beats..

  • @danksdaone Right ,and it was worked in to the Song Planet Rock. So the beats were early hip hop.

  • the best,

  • Great ! Never stopped listening to thois, just realized that this guitar live sound pretty much like that of Tommy Iommi with Black Sabbath.

  • bravo bravo

  • I got pumped up

  • this is fucking awesome !! Very talented guys indeed !

It´s indeed a pity there are no bands like this anymore.

  • @luthien1971 listen to the mars volta

  • @luthien1971 or coheed and cambria

  • Hi redmunkee.

Try watching the latest version of the Mexican from the Babe Ruth Band 35th year reunion gigs in Ottawa and Mt Tremblant on youtube. I think you'll find it's back to funky.

  • Three people must be Justin Bieber or Kesha fans.

  • It's funny how the studio version has a more funk influenced, beat music feel to it, yet some could argue that this performance is one of the early manifestations of heavy metal.

  • @redmunkee to be sure, the term "heavy metal" was coined in 1970.

  • Wow! Classic. Every time you come back and listen to it it still sounds amazing and live it's even better than the studio version. The bass and the drums man! No, no, everything man. It's mindblowing.

  • oh my god. she's awesome.

  • this guy is doing massive arppeigo scales.he difently has a classical background!new music now these days suck balls!

  • Check out Helloween's version

  • This is so freaking amazing. I wish I could have seen these guys live in the heyday. But Damn Janita is FIERCE!! Seriously, this is better than a dozen bands on the charts now.

  • Make room Janis Joplin for Janita Jenny Haan and Babe Ruth, come on Radio Stations USA, Jenny is waiting. Love her!

  • Just saw these guys couple weeks ago in mt-tremblant(montreal 2010) and must say they look sooo different from what you see here (yes they aged like the rest of us), but I also have to say they played and sounded even better than this video! Way to go Babe Ruth!!!!!

  • genius

  • the show at montreal was really good , alan even signed my guitar pick !!!

  • How did they get so slept on? So so good!

  • I believe Jenny told us while at the autograph booth that the Montreal show may be filmed!! If this is true, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!

  • @MadcapLaugh3

Show was indeed filmed but they had a few technical problems with equipment.Alan's amp went out during King Kong and Dave's bass was accidentally unplugged a few times too. They went thru The Mexican twice cause they werent satisfied with the first run...

  • lixo

  • Where in Montréal in 2010???

  • @420soy Metropolis! Ticketpro dot ca for tickets :P

  • It's too cool how Alan Shacklock realizes the camera is next to him, and steps back so the camera can zoom in on Dave Hewitt, especially in the middle of a solo.

  • I love you Jenny,,I WANT YOU !!!!

  • @thewildace you suck donky balls, and you don't know how ahead of its time this song really was you old ass geez of music!!!!

  • i know right...... it sucks!!!!!!!!

  • The concert was in Montreal. I know, I was there. The cameras were annoying..

  • lucky you!!!....I mean being there, not the cameras

  • Say, is that Alan Shaclock or Bernie Marsden on guitar?

  • Alan Shacklock, guitar; Jenny Haan, vocals; Dave Hewitt, bass; Ed Spevock, drums; Dave Punshon, piano. I saw Alan Shacklock play keyboards live in 1985 with Roger Daltrey, at Boston's Orpheum Theater.

  • It's hard to tell from the back, but that keyboard player looks more like Steve Gurl.

  • When was this video really recorded? Some say 1974, some say 1975. Yes, it may be Gurl, but it depends on which website I look at for info; Keyboards; Punshon, 1971-1973 (?) Chris Holmes, 1973-1974, then Steve Gurl, 1974-1976 (?). Dates do not coincide on various sites...

  • This concert was likely in '75, and Steve Gurl would've been the keyboardist.

  • Shacklock

  • What happened to her and the band?!? She's fantastic!

  • That guitar is HOT SHIT! Magic just doesn't happen like this anymore. Thanks for posting this gem.

A chico gotta have his share.

    Indeed.

  • O,M,G amazinggg xddddddddd,

  • God, I will NEVER stop loving this fucking song. And the thing is, this live version is SO superior to the one on the record.

  • fuck'n nice..........

  • WICKED!!
