@weepaul666 Compare the outros. Exactly the same form; repetition of the riff several times then cut a repetition short then restart, fade out... Don't get me wrong they're both great songs but DEP took the blueprint and ran with it
I think it's weird that people don't want to get into complicated music. Are they lazy? Once I got into this music, I feel it way more than typical MTV/ radio shit.
@rololoo Really? Can you play even 1 of their songs? On ANY instrument? No? ... then shut the fuck up, go back to your egocentric bubble where you are awesome and everyone else sucks, and abuse some substance until the world doesn't have to read your shit anymore.
@phreestylesk8r I've actually seen them both at the same concert about 3 years ago in the Netherlands. Dillinger Escape Plan was actually the supporting band at the Meshuggah tour back then. It was AWESOME.
LOL Meshuggah can't stand Future Breed Machine as a song! LOL. Everyone loves it but they don't like playing it. It's all good cause there are like 15 other songs they have that are killin.
@sunited16 They've explained that their songs are structured in 4/4 correct? However as you said tracks like Dancers To A Discordant System is one of many examples that they break that rule.
@Djroshi01 I did. It's just from an interview featuring the guitarist they themselves said that they don't think of time structures, most of their writing is always in 4/4 with the feeling of 1 pushed around every so often. This is reinforced by Haake's constant right hand cymbal work. So yes, in reality I messed up.
@thenameiwantedwasnta Well I mean haven't you noticed how much Jens' vocals have changed since Chaosphere? He used to have more of a raspy yell, whereas now it sounds more guttural and robotic almost. For some reason I can't help but notice that DEP's vocalist almost sounds like Jens' older style, at least in this video.
that whole thing about ''oh you don't understand meshuggah...'' is complete bulshit music is about hearing it and the emotions it transmites to you not about understanding it, like in theory and stuf, but i suposse it helps at writing
Jens is totally right about the time signature bullshit. I don't blame the listeners who don't understand this kind of music though, but with a little knowledge about music theory they would be guided to a whole new path.
