actually, US trucks (apart from doubles) are restricted by DoT regulations to 88,000lbs, which is equal to 39,916kg an EU semi trailer has 40,000kgs on 5 axles, 44,000kg on 6 axles.

Answering to the Tuffenuff77, In Europe all trucks use inline6's up to abt 480BHP some alot higher like Volvo's up to760BHP, but Merc, MAN, and Scania's use V8's... N all testing with truck magazines the Scania always out pulls any other european trucks abt, its highest ftlb of torque for the 730BHP is 2585... Id say all our engines are producing around the same averagely mate...

i was wondering if any one knows how many foot pounds of torque those v-8 scania's have. in the usa our inline 6's average about 1850 and up.i am a fan of the v-8's here in the us but we stoped using them 30 years ago because they would not hold the rpm's in the hills. mack used them until 94 i believe.
