  • dat mouse alomost messed evrything up lol

or maybe it was driving n tryin to get back in da truck

  • yh, those 4 HP did the trick. xD

  • my truck has 260 horse power! now to figure out what the other 256 are for???

  • Here is another reason to adopt one of these gentle giants when they retire if you have the facilities.

  • Thats real horse power

  • Did anyone else see that giant bug run across the road at 25 seconds

  • Was that a rat riding the horses @ 0:18 then ran thru the snow O_o

  • @IIILATINOIII It sure looks and sounds like that mouse jumped off the horse.

  • beat that whit your 400 horse power ford or gm or what ever that only have 4...

  • so cool...I love it!

  • It not about horsepower but rather about traction. Those horse were slipping at first but it was pure luck those little hooves got enough traction to pull that jacknifed semi forward.

  • @SPS148669 not entirely pure luck, they are often shod with a cleat in the front of the horseshoe which provides them extra traction as well as the fact that those horses probably weigh 1900 or so pounds and horses carry most of their weight in their front, but yeah i noticed them slipping too.

  • Need some cows that would be sediment being its a milk truck

  • The amish are great people

  • @nuclearthreat545 Oh yeah, they can drive on hilly, crooked roads at 10MPH in their black buggies in the dark and cause major accidents but that is OK I guess. No, they won't sue if they get hurt or killed but how does that set with your conscience when you are the driver of the vehicle that hit them?

  • @garybrownfie They shouldnt be allowed to drive at night then.

  • its obvious that the mouse harness broke while showing the horses how to pull

  • mouse @ :24 wanted to get in on the action

  • Thats cruel

  • @00michy Those horses were not mistreated in any way.

They were given a job to do and they did it.

  • What kind of horses are these? Well no matter, I find it funny that 400 horses couldn't get the truck unstuck but 4 did. Just goes to show that more horse power isn't always better.

  • @skymitch89 Belgian Draughts - Magnificent horses - second largest to a Clydesdale

  • wie geil! ^^

  • looks like that big dark horse did all the work.

  • Those horses have a shitload of torque.

  • i love physics!

  • I can't believe there's no music to this video! Hello? Rocky? Eye Of The Tiger? Anything??

  • nice :)

  • WTF tanta fuerzaaa!!! se parecen a mi xD

  • Mouse in the snow @ 0:24.

  • This video would be epically improved if dubbed over with Jethro Tull's 'Heavy Horses'.

  • Truly wonderful. Thanks, Joel for posting.

  • sehr geil

  • Four Horsepower my ass. This must be like at least 16 Horsepower. Those are some Huge Draft Horses. Not to mention this Amish Farmer doing his good deed for the Week I'd say. But then they used Horses back in the day for everything they did. Twenty Mule Teams pulling the Borax Wagons across the salt flats. It is funny that those Horses were almost spooked by a mouse. But hey that's what eats You while You sleep. Mice & Clowns will eat You if You're not careful!

  • at :21, a mouse sees the horses and is like, "oh crap!"

at :23, second horse from left sees mouse, and says, "oh crap"

  • The Amish is Awesome!!

  • This puts a smile on my face! :) God bless the Amish for they certainly bless Him!

  • Now THAT'S what I call Horse Power!

  • @evilbluepoptart THIS IS 4 HORSEPOWER, btw thumbs up if u onl came here from failblog's wins :D

  • What is an "Amish horse"?

  • @steppendawg the most commonly used horse is the standard bred but of course they use others too

  • @steppendawg They use Standardbreds to pull buggies, and Belgians for farm horses.

  • @sstoval3 ok thanks, I thought maybe there was a difference between "Amish horses" and "Baptist horses" or Methodist horses" or even "Muslim horses" ;)

  • Even a these big horses fear a little mouse...!

  • I love Amish people!

  • Four horsepower buggy pulls out a tanker truck. Who's the guy who developed the horsepower standard. He should be fired immediately, :)

  • This is why the Amish love the Big Belgian horses..

  • See the mouse @ 0:22

  • wow horse power

  • That's awesome, the horses look amazing.

  • Absolutely incredible.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing. I love the way the horses dutifully pull that big, scarey truck out of the snow, then they get startled by the little mouse that runs across the road in front of them! Too cute!

  • did anyone else see that mouse run across the road?

  • Hello - Please check your messages. A TV show is interested in your clip. Please contact me as soon as possible. Thanks!

  • THUMBS UP FOR THE MOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no maaaaaaaaamen cabron! eso si son caballos de fuerza eh!

  • Beautiful beasts! Love this video...and the rat or mouse too! hee hee! ♥

  • 4 hp (horse power)

  • The irony here is awe-inspiring. For years, horses delivered the milk. They were replaced by milk trucks in the 1920's. Now... 80 years later the horses are showing they have no hard feelings by helping a milk truck in need. lol

  • Only in Washingtonville

  • Amazing display of the strength of a team of horses! I would not have believed that only 4 of them could have pulled that heavy truck out of there! Great video!

  • @HybridWaterMan2

Actually I'd bet that the truck was empty. Remove the weight and trucks lose their rolling friction.

    -

  • @kmg501 - You are probably right, but even if the tank was empty, you still have what 8000-10,000 pounds of cab/motor and container they pulled out of the drift. Still amazing to me...

  • @HybridWaterMan2

Empty that truck/trailer combination will weigh about 36k pounds (a tractor alone weighs about 17k). Loaded it could be a legal max of 80k pounds. He was probably empty causing a loss of rolling friction.

With the horse team and low gear power to both driver axles (one dual wheel side each) it was probably just enough to break the static hold and right angle resistance that the truck/trailer combination was in.

IE the horse team helped get it unstuck. :-)

    -

  • It was the mouse howpulled the truck...The horses are there just for show. LOL.

  • The horse on the far left is evidently the supervisor - he barely moves, much less pulls! LOL!

Seriously, it's he's like the anchor in a turn in a parade - the person at the far edge has to take much larger steps to cover the turn while the anchor marches in place.

Just goes to show that we can still rely on horses in many ways.

  • @KarenHeningSpeedone

In an Amish team of work horses, there's usually only one horse who knows what they're doing, and the others just know to pull as hard as they can when told.

  • theres nothing like 4hp

  • Did you see the mouse run across in front of the horses?

  • paso un rata.....!!!!

  • Amazing! Thank you for sharing this.

  • did any one see the mouse run across the road in front of the horses?

  • @ronknight100

    1!!1 lol firs t!11!!

  • @ronknight100 what rat are you on drugs?? AHA HA HA just kidding sure we all saw the rat.

  • A couple of days ago in Kentucky an Amish family with seven kids was riding home in their horse-drawn cart. There was no way they could have been warned of the coming storms - I guess the caterpillars or whatever were silent. High winds blew their buggy off the road and into a river where four of their seven children perished, the youngest 7 mos and the oldest 12 yrs. Greenies probably think that's a good thing, since they hate kids and technology.

  • Anyone saw A Mouse at 0:26???

  • Beautiful video! Incredible!

  • now that's horsepower

  • Well I learned a lesson from this, Don't ever Fuck with Clydesdales!

  • @Oniqueen

They're actually Belgians not Clydesdales. :-)

The sad thing about the Amish is that they send their horses to New Holland when they're no longer useful. From there the horses will be lucky to get rescued. If not rescued they go to slaughter. The Amish also run puppy mills.

  • @MsCollada They also provide a lot of ex-harness racers (Standardbreds) with a second home after their racing career is over.

Unfortunately, there are more horses in the world than homes for them, and until people stop breeding so many horses carelessly, that's probably not going to change a whole lot. Many of the Amish take very good care of their horses. They're their only transportation and means of livelihood.

  • 4 horsepower 16 wheel drive. powered by green fuels.

  • I'm so glad he got this on YouTube. I saw it on Facebook and it is truly wonderful. Kudos to everyone involved.

  • Wow, that is a lot of Budweiser.

  • Draft horses beat your sissy Ferrari anyday

  • Con tal solo 4 caballos de fuerza (HP)!!!

  • and the rat that crosses the road at second 25 ????? LOL

  • The Amish: prepared for 2012 since 1712.

  • now that is what i call horsepower.

  • I think that Amish must be very proud of himself :) Old school vs Technology 1:0.

  • WAR Amish, Modern Society FAIL

  • did some1 see the rat passing through?

  • @WarkozZZ Definitely

  • I'm guessing that was the tanker truck picking up the Amishman's milk? The mouse was great! He even popped out a second time! LOL!

  • i love amish people

  • Up Amish!

  • Amish guy says, YEAH! LOOK WHERE YOUR TECHNOLOGY GOT YOU NOW! Horses don't get stuck in snow...

  • ‎"To hide you from eyes that mock at your girth,

and your eighteen hands at the shoulder.

And one day when the oil barons have all dripped dry

and the nights are seen to draw colder

they'll beg for your strength, your gentle power

your noble grace and your bearing.

And you'll strain once again to the sound of the gulls

in the wake of the deep plough, sharing."

  • Check out the scurrying mouse at 22 seconds on the video! It appears that massive horse is startled? Fascinating video. I remember the working horses in my youth, as I lived in rural New York State in farm country and went to the Little World's Fair in Sullivan County, NY . They had horse pulling contests then and I believe they still do.

  • wow! All I can say...

  • Heavy horses are amazing. Very slippery work for them though.

  • That's amazing! :) Awesome horses!

  • Absolutely amazing! :)

  • Wow, what a team! There are fewer things more impressive than watching the sheer power of a well-matched set of draught horses. And to witness such an ancient means of power coming to the aid of a modern tractor-trailer rig in such icy conditions makes it especially impressive to me! Great video! Kudo to the person who posted it!

  • Incredible! This Amish gentleman is a true good Samaritan (although he may not like being filmed.) And I love the little mouse scurrying away from the horses.

  • @nothrpuckr good eye on the mouse. I had to rewatch it.

  • @nothrpuckr the milkman was actually picking up milk from the amish man's farm and the man got stuck and since horses are the only things that the Amish have to pull a truck out, that's what they use

  • @nothrpuckr

Had to watch it twice to find the mouse haha

  • super cool

  • Now big feet, I was sleeping in the snow and you almost walked on me. At least I made a hasty getaway.
