  • Ms Aretha Has Pipes! I don't care how old she is!!! She is the queen of soul!

  • That is UNREAL. She can still do these vocal pitches at 60-something. Look at some singers comparable to her - they'd CHANGE THE KEY! That is, they would sing an A major song in F major because they'd be unable to sing that high. But "Lady Aretha"? Hah! She's like "It works - I'll show ya!" =P

  • yes think donne "la peche' vive the soullllllll

  • She's still a legend

  • shame the queen of soul is struggling these days... she can't really sing anymore... but hey... she's the queen of soul and she deserves that title after all.... just listen to all her hits.

  • I don't know why people are giving lemartyn the thumbs down for being honest and truthful - her later years have certainly taken something from her voice and this performance proves it unfortunately. She'll always be the Queen of Soul, but now it's all about reputation as opposed to renewal. There again, how many of us could hope to be half as good at her age?

  • God bless You, Soulfull Lady!!!!

  • we think she is amazing

  • hahah but you were so far, and up !!

    hahah you also suck !!

  • 65yo no joke, she does objectively rule

  • She's the best, my reality, my mother, she's all my life !!! i luv blues !!!

  • Awesome/masterful/Soulful singing.not many come close to this.

  • Envy is a very serious sin, dear. She is the best voice that ever existed so stop insulting the queen because I'm secure you'll never sing like her.

  • You should have just a "little bit of respect" for somebody that brought so much to music.

I'd like to see you singing when you'll be her age!

  • I agree Aretha's best vocal dayz are long gone. Her voice is shot and it may have past away. Ree is in denile and her voice is in exile.

  • I wouldn't write Aretha off. She has been a survivor for 4 decades. She has braved through many tragedies, disastorous relationships, financial woes, bad marriages, contract disputes and career obscurities and come out on top. Obivously, God is with her. For a great read, check out "A Step Into Deliverance" by T. Pugh. It's a controversial but riveting autobiography about one man's amazing battle with Jezebel.

  • And so have many other people to, been threw what she has gone threw and maybe even worst. So whats your point? I don't recall typing about her career, I'm typing about her voice being in its worst state meaning yesterday, today and tomorrow.

  • WATCH WHAT YOU SAY !! RE HAS A LONG WAY MORE TO SHINE !!!! !!!

mark my words. this is fuzzy but she's hittin her high notes on "think" and the lower range is all bassy here but I bet it sounded FUNKYGOOD in person. Ask the wildskin!!!

  • Don't forget she's 65 years old.

  • I agree a bit with both, old artists have a tendency to tour when they probably shouldnt, (im not saying thats the case here thou). but it's obvious that when youre 65 youre not as good as you were when you was 25, but aretha is still rocking ;)

  • @kingclarinet I wouldn't say that. I've watched her outstanding performance on the 2007 US Open, and I could say: she was BETTER than in 1967. It's just because from an over 60-year old that has lived her life to the fullest with all highs and lows there are, you just take every word for granted. Imagine a 25-year old singing "My Way" with THAT lyrics. It just does not work, if a 25-year old young psyche singing from a "final curtain". Don't!

  • Soooooooo true...her new singing style is quite unplesant to listen to, compared to 10+ years ago. We paid big bucks for her last performance in the ATL, and she should have paid us to see her perform instead. In comparison to her peers of the same age range, she's below par. That's a fact!

  • I agree. Maybe if she weren't the size of a house she'd be able to sing like she used to. Obviously she's having trouble breathing with all those extra kilos!

  • she will alway's be good at sining and she does enjoy this song because she said she did when i met her back in august i was at the same coffe shop as she was and she is really nice!!!!!

  • sweet, my teacher played with her in Stamford, CT, he was one of the percussionists

  • It's difficult to do this kind of show when you're out of shape! Aretha is carrying around an extra 100 pounds...can you imagine someone hanging a 100 bag of potatoes on your body and ask you to walk around all day? I hear she's on Jenny Craig, thank God!!!

  • i have seen her 2x since 2005 and she was AMAZING. The sounds on this is far from good enuff to judge the performance. I have seen 4 or 5 HORRID shows by her in the late 80s and early 90s. Maybe she still has some bad nights, but she's kicked ass the last 2x she played LA.

  • she is one powerful woman! love her

  • On second thought, she is rapping...just a very horrid sample of it...embarrassing.

  • Ree just goin thru the motions

  • I agree--I'm very disappointed. Not to be negative, like someone said on here, but she's just not enjoying herself anymore. Very sad...

  • Hmmmm...it's obviously time for Ree to settle for rapping, instead that wretched falsetto.

  • You are sickning with these negative comments on all Aretha's videos. Why do you keep looking at of them if she sounds so bad to you? I just don't understand it!

  • To each its own.. I love her falsetto. In face I would rather hear her sing in it then some other artist sing period. Get over it

  • Yeah, you saw her live. I have tickets to the Albany, NY show. Front Row!!!

  • I hope I get to see her perform live a day. My wish list is Arthe Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Tina Tuner. I've already seen Whitney Houston and Pattie Labelle.

  • How was it?
