  • No, that was real speed.

  • Better than mine.

  • that would have some sick movement if it was faster.

  • Dude your really good I mean, a knuckleball moves cause the air is pushing against the laces on the ball. So obviously the harder you throw it the more movement you get. I know you weren't throwing that hard in this vid but if you just chuck it as hard as u can it will definetly move. Plus, this is in 2007 so your probly 10 times better now:p

  • he looks like kanye west lol

  • that was shit

  • i have a killer knuckleball, but i only throw it a hand full of times. my dad taught me that right after teaching me the submarine delivery. it was pretty cool to throw like that and have that nasty pitch

  • im a knuckler my self but damm nice i still cant get them to do that

  • when i was learning a knuckleball i had the same thing happen to me - no movement but no spin at the same time. try throwing it harder trust me it will move tons.

  • @xKJxJIKLER how much harder should he throw it. i throw mine as hard as i can and i dnt see movement. my vid is on my channel

  • @sleeper0789 to throw an effective knuckleball u should throw it as hard as a fastball. your grip on the ball will determine how much slowe it is than your fastball. once u get good throwing it like a fastball batters will have a hardtime noticing its a different pitch until its too late because your arm speed is the same. please subscribe

  • @sleeper0789 My guess from experience is 50 mph at the minimum to see some movement. The movement gets wilder as the speed goes up and reaches a peak between 65-70 mph. You can go as high as the low 80's like RA Dickey / Joe Neikro, but the movement is not as intense. Check out my video... I'm throwing about 60 mph there.

  • @stephencho78 how fast wood u say im throwing it in my vid

  • @sleeper0789 it is impossible to tell by video. If you really want to find out, try to find a batting cage that also has a pitcher's tunnel with radar gun. If your fastball is 65 or greater then I would bet that your knuckler is at least 50. Better yet, just throw your knuckler in the tunnel

  • the second time it did move, just couldent see it very well cause the camera was not at the right angle. plus hes probly severil times better now scince this video was made in 2007.. his knuckleball probly has looots of movement now i bet

  • damn

  • That was thrown like 2 feet, anyone can do that.

  • not gonna lie that was nasty but i wonder how far he can throw that

  • @smoothsheets a good one shoudent have any movement

  • hanger banger

  • No movement = bad knuckleball

  • I didn't know they could throw knuckleballs.

  • @bigbobbydahmer what do you mean by "they"?

  • i love watching a knuckleball fool batters

  • owesome knuckle ball

  • pretty good video...but you're right there wasn't much movement lol

  • @Kevzdacowz i bet you couldnt hit it though so shut your fukkin mouth

  • @knokyoudown710 I was complimenting him dipshit never said it was bad

  • theres more to a knuckleball than just no spin

  • wat i do is use 4 fingers and leave my smallest (fifth) finger to kind of guide the direction of the ball. His way is definately effective but if u want to get some hard (very hard) breaking knuckleballs that break late, then u should try my invented type. it really works

  • @sosolid2kbla Be careful when eventing your own pitch. We don't want you to blow out your arm or anything :D

But I throw my knuckler similarly. I use all four fingers, with my thumb for balance. Knuckleballs aren't supposed to be aimed at one spot, so I throw it in the same mindset as I throw a curve, middle away.

Push off at the end and let it fly! :D

  • ya i had to change it now and then but the way i give it a break is very good and doesn't damage my arm or anything. Actually, the only pitch i ever throw that screwed up my arm ever was a forkball. BOY DID THAT HURT LOL but thanks for your concern

  • Hehe, Forkballs are painful. I remember my first experiment with them... lol

  • with ur knuckleball, u have pretty good mechanics and i wont try to change them, but do wat greg maddux did. he would kind of bring his wrist back without adding a reak snap. He would also make his release point higher. Try it out and tell me how it works ok?

  • @sosolid2kbla You aren't supposed to snap your wrist at all. You're supposed to just release it.

  • @sosolid2kbla actually thats interesting i'm pretty sure that's what R. A. Dickey does with his knuckleball

  • my knuckle ball sucks compared to this

  • You should see Tim Wakefield throw knuckleballs in slow-mo. Absolutely no rotation.

  • Nice form, no spin at all perfect. I want to see you in pinstripes

  • you actually have the ideal spin on the ball tho... anywhere between 1/4 and 1 rotation is considered to be good

  • good pitch and harmony.. you have no clue what your talkin bout some of my best knucks are the slow ones

  • 2nd pitch was better, but both were pretty good. different camera angle would have shown the movement better

  • ehem, but i believe the no movement makes the ball flutter becuase it loses its centre of gravity, so it would not have got jacked outta da park

  • for the knuckleball to get movment it needs to go atleast 50mph

  • It's in slow motion. He did throw one. It's just that he put the video in slow motion.

  • BALL 4!

  • knuckleballs can rotate a little and get nasty movement.

And a camcorder's not always gonna pick up the movement of the knuckleball, especially a weird zoom angle like that. My guess is he threw it pretty slow though.

  • wtf it doesnt even move like a knuckleball this video is garbage

  • "Slow motion video of me throwing a couple of knuckleballs that would have undoubtedly gotten jacked out of the park because there is no movement on them whatsoever."

    Upper-left hand corner.

    Read it.

  • upper- right hand corner :p

  • Upper-right hand corner actually.

  • I only look at display screens through mirrors.

    Its true.

  • it doesnt need to move. its locks up a hitter

  • The other thing about knuckle balls is that they are are to hit in the air because they don't come off the bat with the same spin as a fastball or curve.

  • You should have put the full motion part of the video with it too.

  • Nice...yea just try to get it faster. Nice release though

  • SICK

  • If you can have a non-spin knuckleball move over 7/10 of the time at about 70 to 75 mph, you have a ticket to the the MLB for sure. No human can predict what's going to happen, not the pitcher, nor the hitter, nor the catcher.

It's an amazing pitch if you can do one. But it'S damn hard to do. I've done a few nice, these would have strike for sure. But, I'd advise to throw fastballs, curves and off-speed pitches before this one.

  • it doesnt spin but youve got to throw it harder

  • KNUCKLE BALLS DONT SPIN -.-

  • they can spin

  • they're not supposed to

  • uh yeah retard

  • nice pitch

  • yeah, you sound like you know what your talking about.

  • that's nasty.....

  • I'm not a baseball fanatic but what is the special thing about a knuckle ball?

  • it doesnt spin

  • the way it moves. totally random

  • Comment removed

  • It's not an illusion. Wind air pockets form around the ball because of the seams creating turbulence that makes the ball do weird things.

  • like rifling in a gun barrel, its to stabilize the projectile. the knuckle ball doesnt have stabilization so it moves all over the place.

  • great!!

  • sweeet

  • that was a good knuckleball

  • that was good but from a short distance

  • i know how to shoot a football like that :)

  • physics of baseball: in a perfectly elastic collision (simulated setting without gravity, air resistance, or other factors), the faster the ball moves, the further it's hit depending on bat factors (speed, mass, constitution), since the ball has more momentum with a higher velocity.

  • unnecessary

  • why is it unnecessary?

  • nice dude no spin at all

  • sick

  • thats prtty sweet

  • maybe next time show it in normal form and then go to slow mo cuz this is kinda weird just slo mo

  • This is a wicked nuckle. I can throw mine like that without spin but can someone explain to me how to get it to have movement

  • try flicking your fingers a little more over the top, gives you topspin and the ball will just fall out right out and still have the tumble that a knuckler has, but it wont be as extreme

  • one of these days ill video one of mine ... i have thee nastiest knuckler ever

  • All the haters should read the description where I ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT. This was a few years ago when I was first learning it, so I could only throw it with no rotation if I was basically lobbing the ball. In the video, I was probably throwing around 45-50 feet.

  • that was awful

  • sweet, aha, just more speed for dance

  • the harder the you throw it the less it dances genius

  • thats cause u get mor sloppy and will put more spin on it, but it is possible to throw a knuckle fast with some prety decent tumble

  • i have the knucklebook upstairs and it actually gives reasons that slower is better due to actual physics not human error...

also, any mlb or pro hitter can hit 80-90mph and up so its a huge adjustment to make to hit something that is little league speed.

if you want good top spin throw a forkball - thats all they should have and they break like no other pitch

  • great knuckle but didnt really see much movement in the path of the ball.

  • canesballa10 unless you can throw a knuckle that well than stop making comments about how much it sucks, and lukachicago why are you watching this wen it is obvious you dont know baseball

  • Awesome, that woulda been NASTY, next time show us the movement of the pitch.

  • Nice....almost no movement. I am still working on mine. I can get it to move fairly well side to side but it still has spin.

  • i can throw one almost as good as yours but i throw mine with two fingers on the seams

  • Y cant I ever master the Knuckleball good? i can throw it sometimes but sometimes i cant. I hold the ball at the joint above your fingernails

  • try when u throw it, push your fingers out when u throw, and think of it trying to get top spin.

  • wrong

  • Yeah for real. It's a good k-ball.

  • knucklers only useful when pitching from a distance greater than 60.6 ft because the break usually starts later, but it also depends on the rotation too.

  • THE MLB IS 60.6 Ft you asshole

  • dude that was sick that had very minumum rotation

  • so nice. i have a pretty good knuckleball, but that's amazing. great stuff.

  • wow thats awesome

  • nice! go out for the majors x) You could be the next Tim Wakefield (or maybe even Phil Niekro/Hoyt Wilhelm) :)

  • My knuckleball is really slow and goes down , when i throw it hard it spins a lotm, soo i dont know

  • It goes down courtesy of gravity - and the fact that you throw it slow. If you find out a way to throw it faster with little spin the air will catch the seams and give you more movement. Its just a matter of trial and error until you find a proper grip.

  • An average knuckleball rotates at least 1.5 times on the way to the plate.

  • how do you throw it???

  • With your index and middle finger, you hold the ball like any other pitch, however, you only use your fingertips. Usually I try to hold the ball on a spot where the white and red laces meet. (Kind of a 4 seam hold but, of course, with your fingertips). Some pitchers kind of keep their wrist stuff but I don't because of how much of a tip-off it is to the hitter. Hope this helped.

  • I meant to say stiff instead of stuff : X

  • im 13 and i have a pretty good knuckle it moves a lot but it doesnt always have no spin is this good?

  • In a distance of 60ft 6inchs that ball will move around alot, if he has a fastball around 80MPH then throw a 40-60MPH kunckleball then they would be fine. I dare you to try and hit a guy who can change speeds.

  • exactly! good point Wuddupz!

  • it didn't really seem that it jumped around at all...

  • it wasnt supposted to jump around thats what a knuckleball does

  • Nice Knuckle. How long did it take you to master it?

  • ok so what if his ball doesnt spin. that dont mean anything if the ball doesnt have movement. when its slow like that all its askn for is to have the cover riped off of it.

  • the seams make the ball less than spherical. if there's very little rotation the seams will cause erratic changes in the way air resistance pressure acts on the ball. it will float around like it has a mind of it's own. very hard to hit.

  • yea i kno all that. but still his knuckleball aint movin dude and to get the best movement you need to throw with a lil more velocity than 30 mph

  • you'd be suprised.. post a video of you rocking a knuck then we'll talk.

  • it actually is harder to hit because it wiggles around and with no movement the hitter has a hard time picking it up

  • highly doubt it. one of the hardest pitches to hit solid is one that is only going like 60 MPH aka Wakefields...have you ever heard of the saying that the harder the pitch the farther it goes? well it's true and you need to be unbelieveably huge to have enough power to hit a knuckleball over a fence...

  • Wow that was a nice knuckleball.

  • A Knuckleball rotates twice maximum, his barely rotated once. Good throw.

Its funny that when i look at the profiles of people who talk shit, they have no videos of themselves.

  • woow that was a beauty

  • Cool!

  • obamas bro

  • eephus are mad cool

  • coool

  • knuckleballs are supposed to have slight rotation u dumbass' go fucking watch wakefield u dumbfucks.. especially that one dude who said this guy threw a slider..complete dumbass

  • yeah, total jackass. baseballhopeful eh? hope you enjoy not succeeding in life, and have a good time sucking a lot of cock. Seems like you've got a good start already.

  • haha nice comeback u douche bag aww did u think it was a slider too? what a lil bitch

  • slight rotation?!?!?!?...HAHAHAHAHA! a good knuckle has NO rotation you dumbass. you must be a redsox fan..what a FAG!................feel free to look like an idiot and reply because i won't get them LOL!

  • umm yeah slight rotation. what other knuckleballer do you know that has had as much succes as Wakefield, who has slight rotation on his knucks if u watch some vids. and i aint a red sox fan, i hate em.

  • read this i looked it up

Regardless how the pitch is gripped, the purpose of the knuckleball is to avoid the rotational spin normally created by the act of throwing a ball. In the absence of this rotation, the ball's trajectory is significantly affected by variations in airflow caused by differences between the smooth surface of the ball and the stitching of its seams. The asymmetric drag that results will tend to deflect the trajectory toward the side with the stitches.

  • my knuckleball is pretty nasty, but its different thought i throw it as hard as i can wit control and it always breaks different. sometimes it breaks to da left or right or it completely dives down specially when it hot n windy, i dont use it in real games cuz it always breaks off the plate n no one swings wutta hell

  • Nice. Your camera catches the pitch nicely. Good job.

  • actually having .5 - 1 rotation will increase break and make it a better pitch

  • I saw no rotation at mid-point. That means the ball will have maximum break, and that's just plain wicked. Good luck hitting that. You will be embarassed.

  • A knuckleball's a knuckleball--and that's a good one!

If Lukachicago19 thinks this beauty of a knuckleball looks like a slider, what does he think a beauty of a slider looks like?

  • a knuckleball

  • r u dumb that is a pretty good knuckel ball not even close to a slider.

  • luk what the hell are you a moron? this actually is a pretty decent knuckleballl this guy is throwing

  • hey lukachicago19 you dont know anything about a knuckle ball. as u know wakefield is a knuckleballer and if you watch his games sometimes they show him pitching in x-mo and even his knuckleballs have movement get your facts straight

  • impossible ? Tell that to Aaron Boon

  • you dont want any rotation on the baseball if your throwing a knuckleball.

  • yea, there was no movement...that's easy, anyone can do that if they're throwing it 10ft...the challenge is getting it all the way to the plate at 75mph...

  • 75 mph? You are a fool.. Even Wakefield throws a knuckleball in the 60's..

  • stop hating it had no movement!

  • dang......i can throw one but it spins sometimes.(which really pisses me off)but its pretty good.i got one question.. are you the knuckleball god lol

  • good job man. people don't know what the hell they are talking about on here. not many people can throw a good knuckleball and there really is no specific way to throw it. you already cut the rotation to zero and that's the biggest thing

  • SUCKIE!

  • Dave Chapelle? Is this where you've been?

  • Yea man gotta throw it a bit faster but a good start now, try increasing stride length and up the hip torque and it should help you out.

  • thats is crap!!! i would smash that ball if it came anywhere near me!!!

  • i dunno i think ur suppose to push it

atleast thats what i've been told

  • yeah, ur supposed to kind of fling it forward with your fingers

  • yah u kinda fling it forward with a pushing motion with ur fingers and u keep ur wirst stiff.

  • A knuckleball, at least a good one is thrown with fastball mechanics aside from grip and the fingers following.

  • shut up dude the hitters knows its coming everytime cuz its a completely different way of throwing than a fastball

  • No, the only difference is that you release a bit sooner.

  • nice job.

  • nice

  • the knuckleball is dead, im guessing u killed hip hop 2

  • good job uncle rico

  • Very good my man. I got that whole no spin as well thing going but no break yet. We gotta get faster!

  • really good but you should make a longer video

  • if you want more movement you have to have more velocity that is what so hard about the knuckler. but you arepretty good at the no rotation part

  • The point of the knuckleBall is to have zero rotation. You are doing extremely well. The only thing you have to work on is not opening your hand up so wide during delivery. A hitter could see that, and know what is comming
