I was working there for 2 weeks, and talked a lot with Kai, believe me he's a real nice guy! His drumming was incredible (I think this song was even better when he played it at my town!)

Well, I dunno, he already has a backtrack and that should be enough. And further, why would anybody want to go see a guy play that has to depend on a click to keep in time. I mean i'm sure he could very well play with out it, so it's just silly to me.

Im not a drummer but i would think that the tracks are good but for some of the fills its easier to keep in time with the click because its keeping the 1,2,3,4 instead of depending on the tracks to know what beat of the measure he is on. plus sometimes the drum fills are really fast even though the music is slower so he might lose his place without the click, which he has in his ear on live shows as well.

He doesn't 'depend' on the click. But when you are in the studio recording long senssions it's better to have to mentronome to back you up.

Might be quite annoying to lose track of the beat and start over when there is like some silent moments in the song.

Yes it is, because he plays along guitar track with the click and you cannot separate the guitar track from the click unless you have a computer with Q-base or something and an audiocard, or a sampler, wich alows you to choose wich track you want in the headphones and wich one you want in the speakers!

He probably uses just a simple audio file (mp3, wav) with click and guitars. In that case you cannont isolate the metronome. Except if you use the stereo (click on the left and guitars on the right), then you can play the left part on the headphones and the right part on the speakers. But if you do that, the guitars and keyboards will be in mono wich means poor quality!

well... 6/8 its actually a 2/4 with a triplet feel..generally in 3/4 you make the beat on 3 notes, in 6/8 you make the beat on 6 notes..and the accents are placed with less strength at the 4 note of the 6/8...besides if you listen to songs on 6/8 he does here pretty much the standart, its like a blues but adding all the ride/hh hits.. and giving it a rocker feel..

I think I understand, but am not 100% sure. They way I counted was 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and symbol and 2 and 3... Whereas 3/4 would have been 1 and 2 and 3 and symbol and 2 and 3 and symbol... Sorry if that doesn't make much sense to you, I did my best :P

i count the number above and with consideration of the pulse, then i see if its /4,/8,/16 and so... its a feeling issue, depending on how everything is placed on the music, you know that its a 6/8 and not a 3/4.. its the same as "how do you know if its 4/4 or 2/4?" you have to feel it, and search how long the melodies last, and so...

Actually that isn't quite true, they are the same length of time, but the pulse and length of the "beat" are different. For example, bpm (beats per measure) for the song would be completely different if you changed the time signature from 3/4 to 6/8, because the "beat" would be three eighth notes long instead of two. I prefer to think of the song in 3/4 at moderate tempo, but 6/8 at a really slow tempo technically works. Besides, we have some 5/4 in there throwing the bpm consistency off anyways
