  • the king n his steller student

  • I so miss this music, you live there and you need a break from it. You move away and you wish you were back.

    Cheers, great post

  • @MrVinniemac46 Couldn't agree more...i'm a Bluenoser in Califonia and nothing makes me pine for home like hearing some Ashley MacIsaac. Mind you I'd kill for a Keith's as well..... ;-)

  • BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!

  • Epic! I love both of them... and have seen them both in concert and in person, but never together! Thanks. I just saw a video posted of Buddy playing with Natalie when she was about 8 with Ashley in the background. It was AMAZING! but not on Youtube.

  • epic.....

  • thanks for posting! Damn I wish I was there!

  • epic

  • It gives me that warm feeling of being a Human Being and listening to the Spirit of a people born of a place here on Mother Earth! In other words A music performed by masters of their particular indigenous cultural music . Thanks for sharing this special piece!

  • These two are amazing, I get goosebumps everytime I watch.

  • the one true faith eastern canada !

  • How awesome! I had hoped this footage would surface. Thank you!!!!!!!

  • thanks for sharing this!

  • Fantastic!! I used to play these tunes many moons ago, and this brought it all back!! Will have to dig out my Ashley MacIsaac cassette from the loft, dust it off and have a boogie! ha ha

  • ohh my god! im going to check him out this sat night for free!

  • Ashley is my cousin

  • lol yay!! lets hear it for step dancing!! XD

  • i'd like to see any two musicians match them boys from da cape ..da best of all time ..........

  • Headstones, Hip, Ashley Mac Isaac. Acts that define Canadian culture, in my opinion.

  • I get goose bumps just thinking about...actually Jack White has relatives in Cape Breton. I saw Ashley live once...WOW, I'd go again in a heart beat.

  • Dude.... THAT... followed by the white stripes! You GOTTA be kidding me! WHAT A SHOW!

  • Buddy and Ashley, two of Nova Scotias finest. You both make me proud to be a Nova Scotian. I am Acadian but i still feel like you guys represent us all. Love yas.

  • amazing work, just amazing

  • Este tío es genial, puede tocar lo que le dé la gana, y encima ama la tradición de la que tanto ha bebido. GENIAL.

  • the god and hid aire

  • 2 of the all time greats...absolutely phenomenal! if cbfiddler1975 is Ashley, great work, and anyone who doubts the talent...go fuck yourself and keep watching Coronation Street

  • nobody - What do you think that Phil Mitchell would have to say about all of this?

  • 2 greats having a good time. brilliant. thanks for posting.

  • hey everyone

i decided to remove a certain negative comment on here b'cuz it doesn't reflect in any way what this little video is about...which is capturing a damn fine performance from two exceptionally gifted musicians on a night which was one of my all time favorite experiences music-wise. the person who wrote "he plays them like he owns them" was bang on. anyone there that night will attest that there was something magical in the air. J.W. said meeting buddy/seeing him play was profound.

  • @willowtaker Wish I was at this show. Thanks for sharing.

  • hey Ashley, great to see you posting here. First time I've seen the video of you and Buddy. Class act man! :-) Look forward to seeing you during Celtic Colors - are you in CB during the summer or working on the road? w

  • i'd say ne one who can play like ashley isn't fucked in the head, and damn it's talent, everytune he plays no matter how traditional they are he plays them like he owns them!

and the tunes are miss lyall's strathspey king george, kings reel and etc... probly the most popular way to play that set

  • anybody know what song they're playing?

  • king george

  • the tunes are:

    Miss Lyall's (Strathspey)

    King George IV

    The King's Reel

    Miss Lyall's (Reel)

    Sandy Cameron's

  • buddy must be proud, ashley he can play but f>>ed in the nogen.ashley has to rebuild to teach like he was thought, not gain more respect. but he is great

  • why the feck does everyone say that? I think people are just trying to show off when they say crap like that as if they've got some "insider knowledge" or something.

quit tearing up someone you don't know.

  • the DEVEL came back

  • That was fantastic!! Sounded really good for a camcorder in the audience, also.

  • Excellent, thank you

  • hmmm -so quick to criticize... i presume you are the supreme being of video taking.

by the way - neither was i stomping or clapping but the balcony on which i was seated was shaking so much it overcame the cruddy 'steady hand' feature on my little hand-held digital camera.

thanks for the advice though, i will write it ten times in my homework book so i wont forget next time.

  • @willowtaker Wow that sounds awesome. With a MacMaster and a MacIsaac fiddling (especially Kings Reel) I would have been stomping, and then the White Stripes.

  • lol, good comeback willowtaker.

  • Dizzying? You must have really bad eyes if you found it THAT bad! I thought it was just fine!

P.S. It looks like Ashley's wearing yellow crocs, haha :)

  • if you find that dizzying you must not drive.

  • I'm a cameraman by trade, but why would anyone try to sneak a monopod into a concert? I'd glad he was able to get a normal camcorder in! Ashley MacIsaac and White Stripes in one night? What a show!

  • Jack White of The White Stripes is a distant cousin of both Buddy MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac.

  • Yeah I remember hearing a clip someone posted online several years ago where Buddy (or someone) did a radio interview or called into a radio station and was bragging about how he was related to Jack White, Ashley MacIsaac, and a few other people through great uncle so and so...it was pretty funny.

  • Dammit. Why weren't the Alberta openers this cool? Congrats Eastern Canada, you are made of epic win.

  • absolutely awesome ....ill definitely have to send this link to my bf i love ashley and he loves the white stripes.giver down ashley . if i could only have fancy footwork like that .

  • the king and his heir

  • wow - I've been desperate to find footage of this concert. This was one week before I was in CB and had the unbelievable luck of taking lessons from Ashley. Holy crap what an awesome dude. :)

  • Fantastic to see Ashley back at doing what he does best!

  • this is cool! when was this?

  • Gezz Ashley your sounding real good bye, but you think you could've bought some new pants what.

  • I like his pants

  • the white stripes should have opened for you guys!

  • Great stuff... Love it!

  • AWSOME . The both of you . DianeMare , Cape Breton Island.
