@wolf432 Actually, there is a CV joint on the front drive shaft of s-series vehicles. It's the weak point and usually breaks first. Which is handy, because it's crazy easy to replace and junkyards are littered with them! :D
@nathan61984 Gotcha. I didn't know how those years did their driveshaft i used to own a 92 s10 pickup 4x4 and the driveshaft was more like my k1500 being just a straight one.
@lomira123 The light bar is just the stock roof rack strut. I drilled holes in it and mounted them. Each light cost me $12 from Northern Tool. Very nice beam.
@lomira123 No switch, but I did buy one while at Northern Tool for about $3. And the wire as well. Don't remember the price on that. The lights are sold individually.
On my Blazer I had air shocks in back, torsion crank up front, 31x10.50s. I put the air inlet on the back license plate. Good flex, nice highway ride too.
The Blazer had good power, but the wrong gearing! And the front suspension was weak! Ground clearance sucked! I'll enjoy my 4Runner now. Way beefier underneath.
@CastleParkArcade1 The lift cost me a $50 pair of shackles off ebay. I installed them myself. THe torsion bar lift is free. I have a how-to online I can message you the link if you'd like.
Jimmy's aren't built for that kind of off-roading I don't think. The 4WD system is a part-time, chain-driven system, good for plowing through snow and mud definitely, but for hardcore rock-climbing, you'll want a much more robust drivetrain, locking differentials on both axles, skid plates, etc...
@Marine160100 You mean the trail or the Jeep package? Take it from an S-series driver. This only cost $50 and 30 minutes to correct...and it drove home. :P
@nathan61984 sounds like u may be n denial dude. This guy was tryin to help. There is a reason why you dont see these trucks on trails...in fact, its the same reason the manufacturer is now owned by the govt.
@platypusone hm...mine does fine, as does my wife's, and my brother's, and his wife's...Nice vid of the 4Runner you have. Hilarious. I had a 1995 just like that. It had the V-6 and was way underpowered, then blew a head gasket. :/ Apart from that, I went through 2 sets of CV axles...that thing was a pain. I think I have a vid of it somewhere...
@nathan61984 yeah 2nd gen 4runners were crap, no question. Dont see too many of them on the trails either, at least without an engine swap. However, all the other generations of 4Runners pretty much speak for themselves. I drive an 03 Chevy silverado these days, its a damn fine truck. But compared to the fit and finish of even my 94 Runner its just not put together nearly as well. My two cents.
@platypusone Lol, I've owned both. I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe just user preference, but I would take my Blazer over my old 4Runner any day, it's just better off-road in my opinion. I don't understand what you mean by "don't see many on the trail". I agree, but I think is has a lot to do with virtually no after-market. I see plenty of XTerra's on the trail, and I'd say my truck is at least their equal. Go see some of my other videos, my Blazer handles fine I think.
what ended up being wrong with it?? my zr2 blazer im having problems with the 4x4, the lights click and engage but when i was trying to climb a hill when it was really mudding my buddie made me aware my front tires werent spinning, they only did here and there and when they did is wasnt at the same speed as my rear.... any ideas im thinking somethin with the vaccum lines,, let me know man.
BTW like the blazer, thinking about doing the lights on mine like yours
@JockyTy I'm pretty sure it is the transfer case although I've been too busy to investigate and find out for sure. My brother's ZR2 was having the same problem your's is having from the sound of it. His was a faulty vacuum system (engages the front differential) He fixed it by swapping his front diff with one out of a Bravada. Those are always engaged and bolt right up. Good luck!
gotta keep it challenging or else you would just walk up this smaller stuff and go one to bigger stuff... and then the truck is a trailor queen, and that isn't that much fun if you ask me... =D
Yeah that was me. Lol

how much was the light bar on top, along with the lights?

@nathan61984 yea i have a ford explorer, are the lights pretty steady on top, or on the roof rack does it move alot from bumps?
lomira123 5 months ago
@lomira123 They are pretty steady, not a lot of wiggle unless you really hit something hard.
