  • The various owners of the house since the Lutz family left in 1976 have reported no problems while living there. James Cromarty, who bought the house in 1977 and lived there with his wife Barbara for ten years, commented: "Nothing weird ever happened, except for people coming by because of the book and the movie."

  • $55,000 dollars for a house like that is by today's standards a good deal imagine what it was like then. Now it's on the market for like $330,000 or something don't think Butch heard voices think he and dawn got fed up with their father and how their mother never stood up to him not only for herself but her children. So the two shot them Dawn went to far killed the kids and Butch got pissed and killed her. The only thing haunting it is bad memories. I would like to just walk in it and look aroun

  • What happened was a terrible tragedy and sensationalised as a result. Even if ghosts don't exist, buildings do have ways of absorbing events in a way that can leave certain marks within the foundations of a family home even though they may not be tangible or visible to us - I truly believe that the new owners would have injected happy and good memories and so to allow the past to rest. I weep for those children and a man who could have gotten help before he did those crimes.

  • It is JUST A HOUSE! People were murdered there and the person who did it was caught and tried and found guilty! He is serving his sentence and thats it, he was NOT possessed or any such nonsense, he was on drugs! And he just said all the other crap to try and get out of doing time!

  • @YamatoHenge I AGREE WITH YOU AT 100 PERCENT

  • @YamatoHenge he doesn't make it up on his own. the influence of drugs make him think what he said about the amity ville visions he had a reality which his mind did with the help of drugs fueled with family violence

  • The murders were horrible. George and Kathy Lutz thought up a goold get rich quick scheme. At the end of Kathy's life (she knew she was dying), she became so involved with her church. She most likely was looking for forgiveness. There were no hospital records to support injuries to anyone, the neighbors remember Kathy as warm and friendly when she was noticed in her yard, never worried, upset, or scared to death, and the priest himself, actually came out and admitted the story was a hoax.

  • is anyone living in the house now

  • @Dolphindream15 yes and the spirts are living in your house now the ones in that house lock your door close you bedroom window, and sleep lightly

  • @Dolphindream15 yes their is a family living their now but the address was changed due to mislead tourists away from the home. the pool that was their is gone along with the eye window as well the current owners have performed major renovations to the home

  • oh and the sistsers looks like megan fox

  • Que meda

  • Too bad it's a ghots shag house. It's pretty nice!

  • i find it hard to believe that ronnie did this by himself, there was time to run,the house has been changed a lot now, doesn't look the same much anymore.even changed the address to

  • There is no such thing as ghosts or evil. It's all in your mind. Stop taking drugs! Fart it out!

  • 666999666DEFEO666999666

  • I'll say it over and over. People who say this house isn't haunted are wrong. A house doesn't have to be haunted by ghosts. This house is 100% haunted by a horrific past where a son shot and killed his own family. Oh yea, I would just LOVE to sleep in the same room some got murdered in! People who buy this house better just shut up and deal with the publicity because its a sick choice to live here. I'm sure there are much nicer houses in Long Island with much more peaceful pasts.

  • @misatchi .. you are right! People who buy the house know that they will be bombarded it's something you need too except if you choose too live there. I have been investigating houses for 10 years one thing I CAN tell you is that a house can be horrifically haunted w/ one family and calm and pleasant w/ another . it has a lot too do w/ the emotional energy that the family surrounds themselves with. I believe the house had activity on a mild scale & the whole story just blew up b/c of its history

  • @misatchi every house have violent in it in my house there is many times we can fight maybe there is death before i live too this house is old all house is old many things happen

  • @misatchi There are, me being from Long Island myself.

  • Im terrified...As I can see...I'll not gonna sleep tonight!!! :P

  • is anyone living in this house now?

  • @nipz2nv yes people are living in the house now.

  • lmfao the pedo laugh at the end is soo uber creepy

  • Some people believe the house is truely haunted others do not....I say it doesn't matter if it is truely haunted or not it still makes for a good ghost story....and Yes I do believe in ghosts and haunted Houses.

  • OMG! I got goosebumps when I watched this. It sent chills down my spine. St6ill feel creeped out! Thumbs up if you agree!!

  • i am shocked he wasn't executed

  • @xelbaga1987 he should have received the DEATH PEN ALTY why he didnt I dont know,,,that like letting hitler live,,,they both should have died on the spot,,,

  • @Dolphindream15 laws were different back in the 70's

  • they remodeled the place ceck out tewindows they dont look like eyes now

  • were do u people find these creepy sons but good job

  • @Huskyboy300 its from The Amityville Horror movie soundtrack

  • you guys should check the book out. Really disturbing stuff.

  • @Smileyfacedkiller the book and the house are nothing but money makers even hollywood got into it now lets see how many movies were made of this house 3 ,, 4 and counting,,,

  • everyone lives high hopes and broken dreams these days

  • the lutzs are proven fakes.all the people who have lived in that house since the lutzs none of them had any problem whatsoever.

  • The fact that none of the people who've lived there after them have had problems doesn't mean the house was never haunted.

  • @dzanier that is very true. i guess i'm very leary of the lutzs.i dont know why. we only believe what we choose to believe.

  • This was way too intense for me. I had to turn the sound down. The point of a haunting isn't to let the forces punish you and hurt you over and over again. Whatever is going on needs to be understood. If the haunting is real, the theory about the spirit of departed Native Americans being upset that sacred ground has been misused would be appropriate. If we respond appropriately the entire situation could be changed.

  • 3:36 LMFAO OMG

  • @gabbyvickers8975 jajjajaj Me too!

  • The picture with Marc DeFeo's ghost is just terrifing !

  • MONEY TALKS BULLSHIT WALKS..

  • @THEMAMABOY101 yes the house and the book and even hollywood place it all together and you have money makers,,, I wouldnt mind buying the house it has a lot of room for all my collections,,any one that moves into that house CAN VERY EASY MAKE MONEY,,,FROM IT,,like as in come see the REAL GHOST HOUSE and charge money for any who enter,,it can be and is a big MONEY MAKER,,,

  • I offered $875,000 for the house last may 2010 but got turned down. $1.5 was too high for me. If i was lucky to have bought it, i would of restored it to its original condition as it looked in 1974. Add a few buicks 1972.1973. I wondered what became of the original furniture?. I heard about some items of the house went on a web auction site in late 90's.

  • @sting64az that's an incredible amount of money for a dreaded house. maybe the guy just doesn't want to sell it to you. Had you got your way, would supernatural phenomena overtake your life? Not worth even a penny.

  • @sting64az why did they want 1.5 million and how is it worth that kinda small for that much money for 1.5 million it should have like 2 livingrooms 10 bedrooms and atleast 5 full bathrooms the guy wanted way too much money and why does everyone that buys thise house always sell it why don't they live in it untile they die?

  • @army7989 well its the most famous haunted house in america!. Now, do i believe its haunted? NO,could there be somekind of {residual} there?, maybe?. Ten years seems to be the average time for most of the previous owners to have lived there. Just think back in 1975, this house was in the market for $80,000, because of it past history they say. Now 37 years later,it sells for $1.5 million. I suppose if you live there, you might as well get use to visitors coming by and taking pictures and videos.

  • yes sadly it is true .the mans name was peter o neil.

  • Is this true? If someone can answer me this question it be much appreciated...I heard one of the victims of 9/11 actually lived in this house? I think his family lived in this house for 10 yrs...

  • does anyone know the name of the song? is it like the amityville murder theme song cuz i hear it all the time wen it comes tot the murders..if u know plz comment the answer on my channel, thnks :)

  • The picture of that little boy...I believe to be a real picture of a dead child...I have seen and spoken to a real ghost and her eyes looked exactly like his...glowing amber as big as quaters......

  • @gabbyvickers8975 So did i! lol!

  • It is a safe place today.

  • holy shit the end was creepy as hell

  • the picture at 3:08 is really scary... it's impossible such a picture!

  • the mansion is awesome, i would love to live there.

  • @leedumett444 me too... but it's better in white than in black ^^

  • stupid Lutz

  • It's scary! I can't believe all those people died in that house! Why wasn't someone awake by all those shotguns? How can you kill 6 people??

  • chuck norrises and bruce lee's childhood hangout

  • IS A TRUE STORY...IS POWERFUL THIS HOUSE!

  • Haunted house my ass

Only thing goin on here was a demented son strung out on God knows what

  • I don't believe the Lutzes story. I had ready that families had lived there after the Lutzes and that they never encountered any problems with evil spirits.

  • The problem is that they called a Priest. They should call Chuck Norris.

  • ftw!!!

  • @danzig73079 LOL!!!!! He never sleeps; he waits!

  • the pic at 1:45 who are they?

  • @kerinapetshop they are the De Feo children

  • That's exactly what I thought. How didn't anyone not hear anything that house had really close neighbors.

  • My question is how did 6 people die face down without any defensive wounds or any signs of being drugged? Better yet how did no one hear 6 rifle shots in the middle of the night in a quiet suburban area?

  • @biohazard951753 That's what always made me scratch my head. Their wounds indicate they were all shot, but how is it that no one heard the shots that night?

  • Be right back people, @3:13 made me shit myself...

  • this song is the house song it repesents the house scary eh.

  • it's common sense to know how vile humans are when it comes to drugs.

  • i find it difficult to believe ronald murdered his 6 family members with them lying face down on their stomachs, apart from knowing his heavy intoxication would've made it impossible to operate a hi-powered weapon. i solemly believe he had drug-deal conflicts with the people that he socialized with and those same people got karma by murdering his entire family in cold blood and intentionally framing him.

  • I hope he rottin jail

  • the girl at 1:29, thats probably the girl in the ghost picture at 3:16

  • i'd live there

  • Cool video ivancroft21....many pics I've never seen before. The Defeo's were actually a good-looking family...tragic true story about them - but still to this day I don't understand how the family/kids didn't make a run for it - coroner said none were drugged. All I can think is that they were scared to move and Ronnie ordered them facedown so it'd be less personnel of a shot for him. But why didn't neighbors hear the shots???? THAT is a mystery not even investigators can determine....

  • This thing scares me everytime :(

  • what year was the actull murders in?

  • where did this happen a t?

  • I don't know about y'all, but everytime I see that house or read anything about the movie there is an enormous feeling of evil that I feel. It's weird.

  • @Smileyfacedkiller totally agree.

  • @Smileyfacedkiller yep same here lol

  • @Smileyfacedkiller...odd! Agreed! Its really not even about the killer son being evil...its just that damn house is evil!

Either the movie did a great job instilling some sense of "Native American" justice that deserved to be dealt or that home is just unsettled and many of us can feel it simply through video.

No matter what one subscribes to, your observation is spooky and I agree!

  • @imacceptingbut

yea. The movie has always disturbed me for whatever reason I can't explain, but I remember the first time I got the book. I was reading it in bed and had the book in my hand. A strange sensation of evil came upon me. It was really weird.

  • @Smileyfacedkiller I don't know about you but for some reason whenever I think about Santa Claus I think about Christmas too. I can't imagine why that would happen.

  • Skillfully done!

  • This is all a true story

  • I love to stay over there all night

  • @urtube2k9 would u do it for 50 million dollars?

  • I would for free, just for the buzz

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!! MAKE THEM CHANGE THE WINDOWS BACK THE WAY THEY WERE THAT SHIT LOOKED SO AWSOME BEFORE!!!

  • only the first 2 movies were good he other 2 sucked.i was really let down when it was an obvious money making scheme you know with the book and the movie and all.lutzs stayed just long enough and used ronnie defeos murders to concoct a brilliant story!

  • What is the dark image center screen at :40?

  • True or not, I would not tempt fate and purchase this place unless I had a Million-Fifteen to squander and turn it into a true haunted house for people to visit. Live there? H*ll no! Creepy!

  • i dont think the story about the devil telling him to do it is accurate. Iv read the family had lots of conflict and i think naturally that can drive anyone to insanity. But the story about the devil is something i think people just come up with. And idk kno what to think about the family that lived theere afterwards because ya that is kinda werid that they experinced parnomal activity. But idk lol

  • is the house still there?

  • @amanda14870 Yes, as a matter of fact, its on sale for 1.15 mil. It was changed a lot over the years so tourists and fanatics wouldn't recognize the house, and I've heard the family has lived there with no problems at all.

  • @mnluver wow really?

  • @amanda14870 Yeah, when I was younger I fantasized about buying it! But I'm only 17 now, there's no way I can buy it. I would love to turn it into a bed and breakfast for people as obsessed as me but... I would never live there lol.

  • @mnluver hahaha yeah i wouldnt want to live there either but

i would like to visit and see what it looks like

  • why they don't just destroy this house for there on good

  • I know they are in St. Charles cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island - but do you know the grave marker number? would love to take a visit.

  • No one from the research society, channel 5 news (NY), or any other person involved with the investigation ever could explain the image. One thing is for sure there were no children present during the investigation. The Lutz family never returned to the house and were in Deer Park NY during the investigation.

  • The investigation was brought on by Kathy/George Lutz in an attempt to respond to alligations in of fraud and deception in a book by Kaplan. The "demon boy" picture as it came to be known as was said to have been John Defeo age 9 who was shot at close range throught the spine while sleeping. The picture is of "john" looking out from his room which he shared with Marc Defeo (age 12). This room was next to their sister Allison who also was shot at close range in the face.

  • The pictureu guys r arguing about is a picture that was taken in 1976 by a photographer from The New England Society for Psychic Research. This photo was taken during the investigation and is a well known, well debated photograph. "Photoshop" technology was not even close to being available during this time. The investigation was led by Lorraine and Ed Warren, and a Duke university professor. The investigation was done at a time of major hype.

  • Amazing!I got the vhs(Amityville Possession.,In my opinion the best one)., I don' t know what happened,I don' t know if in this bad story the evil has done something., Surely this is an interesting story that would have deserved more atention by the public opinion.

De feo is an italian surname

I think that nobody will discover the truth we can just suppose what happen that cursed night in a lost town in the U.S.A. one of many histories never risolved

  • Errie & spooky!

  • whoever think that cat is normal no cats eyes glow a very pretty folurescent color not the reddish eye color

  • What's the music? It kinda sounds like the main theme to Pet Sematary but rewinded

  • its the Amityville Horror Theme

  • beau documentaire

  • What's more chilling in real terms is the Austrian Josef Fritzl who imprisoned his daughter for nearly 25 years in a basement cellar & fathered 7 children with her, excluding a mis-carriage on top of that.

A Father fucking his daughter over a period of 25 years without her seeing the light of day over that period of time & becoming pregnant to him on 8 occasions, mis-carrying once.

That's hell for any human being.

  • Something similar to 'marcusa222'.

I live in Scotland. We have many castles/houses etc that are supposedly "haunted" from centuries gone by, through brutal death/murder, which the Amityville House story pales into insignificance in comparison with.

The whole Amityville 'story' is cringeworthy to say the least & smacks of Amrican sensationalism at it's finest.

I've actually driven past there on Long Island. My Uncle worked for a newsapaper company near there.

    It's a nice place.

  • @MikeS67007 "American sensationalism"...yeah..ok things are SO perfect in Scotland, aren't they?

  • @chas6333

Who said anything about things being "SO" perfect in Scotland?

In the context of the Amityville 'story', it's pretty much sensationalist for those willing to believe anything & everything.

You only have to read "doaanddarkcity"'s comment..."Eerie & spooky"

Ermm, not really but Hollywood films & Youtube montages do that for some.

  • @3:06-3:21 really freaked me out

  • @mixtremesvig its a picture taken at the house that is believed to be the spirit of one of the two young boys murdered in that house

  • Ambufreak:

You think it is sick that people live in the house now? People in Europe have houses that are hundreds of years old. Do you tear down every house that had a murder occur in it?

The Amityville house was never haunted. Ronnie 'Butch' Defeo was a nut case for killing his family. Two families lived in the house after the lutzes without a problem. The present family for 18 years now....it's a nice house. 99% of what happened to the Lutz's can be explained with logic...

  • @marcusa222 cool....so what happened to the lutz's that can be explained???.....how do u explain that pic with the ghost at 3:06(look near he bottom of the stairs u see his head)

  • Police dumped black finger print powder in the toilet tanks(the black ooze).Neighborhood kids helped paint the RED ROOM:Just a toy closet painted with exterior red paint. Bodies were left in heated house for a day and half. Blood(and body fluids)were in floor boards and various other areas(crime scene were not cleaned up like now thus FLIES..even finger print powder was still on all the doors).Neighbor cat named Jodie(Ronnie called him a pig)sat on windows sills and his eyes would glow at night

  • @balkazar666

Pics of "ghosts" in any given still images can be explained away as photoshopped pics.

  • there was no such things as photoshop when this pic was taken as u can tell its still in black and white

  • balkazar666 "there was no such things as photoshop when this pic was taken as u can tell its still in black and white"

    ***

What the fuck has when a pic was taken anything to do with the ability to photoshop it nowadays.

I could photoshop pics of the 2nd World War, showing Nazis in fluorescent pink uniforms with bender badges if I could be arsed to.

  • its not worth arguing with u.... running in the special olympics is like arguing on youtube even if u win your still retarded

  • At least you ("u") are moderately self-aware, I'll give you ("u") that, even although your choice of analogy is both unfortunate & inaccurate, which lends weight to your own "retard" comment.

  • is this based on a Ture Story or is it Fake

  • the Defeo's were a real family that were killed by the eldest son

    the lutz's story is uncertain

  • @ivancroft21 Mrs. Lutz died in 2004 of cancer, and Mr. Lutz died in 2006 of heart disease. They had divorced in the late 1980s, but remained on good terms. Mr. Lutz disliked the 2005 remake of Amityville Horror, calling it "drivel" and sued the producers.

  • @ivancroft21 I thought they were killled bye the step dad?or real dad?whatever.

  • @ivancroft21 i actual really i mean really want to see the inside of the real original house right now in 2010 and i want someone to go in it and make it in the news or sometin il be kool :-)

  • @femalesims2fan thad be sweet

  • @femalesims2fan thats not cool, this is vsery sad. this is not a cry for publicity and i think that its still haunted! is anyone living there or have they torn it down?

  • @cutebutterfly09

Oh its still there alright, just type in the address and city etc.. at google maps, then zoom onto the street and it's right there, as creepy as ever could be... it's blue now though..i think...

  • @cutebutterfly09 There afraid to tear it down

  • @cutebutterfly09 I've heard that people have lived there since and the past and present owner after the Lutzes said they never encountered any evil spirits

  • @nikkidanielle19691 Thats because what ever was in that house they got ride of. Its called exorcising a property. Its not just for people.

  • this is a real story and aftr they wer murdered anothr family moved in and they wer haunted an the moved out aftr only 28 days they didnt even last a month becaus it was soo freaky

  • @YannickToshioGrudge Everything is true

  • what is the name of the song, it's haunting... i like it.

  • Um what I actually said about 2:37 thats true to me. George and Kathy Lutz are Dead. Kathy Lutz Died in 2004 George Lutz actually died in 2006. I really Love the Real George Lutz

  • At 2:37 The Picture of George and Kathy Lutz. I think The Real George Lutz looks Sexy Kathy should have sex with him cause he's good looking

  • Near where I live,a young man chopped his parents into pieces 5 yrs ago and nobody lives in that villa.

  • wow thats sick! here in florida. this guy kidnapped his friend's 8 year old daughter, raped and killed her, then burried her in his back yard. when the father was frantically looking for her, his own friend, the one that killed her acted like he didnt know where she was and pretended to help the father find her. what a sicko! police blood hounds eventually found the girl's body and that guy went straight to prison for life. sick world.

  • Do the oil portraits of the family strike anyone else as kinda bizarre? I came from a well off family, and am a product of the 70's, and we didn't have any painted portraits in the house. Anyone know the dirt on those? Was there an artist in the family or did Senior have those paintings commissioned?

  • On second glance, those could be just very touched up photographs, look into the method used to correct photos in the day before photoshop, but the one of Mrs. Defoe sitting like The Virgin Mother with the light pouring down over her is clearly a painted portrait.

  • wow that birds-eye view of the house really showed how huge it was. i wonder if there are any paranormal investigative videos on it. hmm better start the surf.

  • Is there too much doubt left that Dawn talked Butch into killing their parents after which she killed the kids and Butch killed Dawn after finding this out? Dawn's murder was the only "personal" kill. Half her face was blown off....

  • Agreed, gotribe. Something doesn't sit easy for me about Dawn being found in the guest bedroom when she and one of the younger girls shared a room. I would imagine that I would have a hard time bunking down beside my sibling if I had just shot her in the back, too.

Question, and more questions. What was Dawn's motive? There were allegations of serious abuse. Did she kill her folks for that and then kill the younger kids so that they wouldn't end up as fucked up as her and Ronald Jr. were?

  • *the younger girl.

  • I was watching Amityville Horror and I thought I'd look up the history of the house. Apparently the Defeo family had family connections to the mob. Perhaps it was a mob hit? That was at least one theory thrown about. They were killed execution style. Ron might be taking the blame to save his life. The picture at 1:06 of the father looks like a mugshot, not a portrait.

  • right ! dawn was the troublesome child , ronald its just paying the price

  • @gotribe95 whos dawn

  • @Chan3lprincess16 Dawn is the older of the two beautiful DeFeo daughters. The second oldest DeFeo child.

  • That is such a nice house. How did the father pay for it? Who killed those people?

Is that house still there? That would be a big enough house for my family to come visit on the holidays or when ever and not bother me.

  • The father owned and ran a high profile garage dealership and was very well-off. The murderer was the eldest of his children his name was Ralph but his nickname was Butch. He was the man with the beard. It was him whom killed them any allegations of ghosts or possesion are completely fabricated.

  • His name was Ronald Defeo, not Ralph!

  • Sorry my mistake.

  • the house is still there yes.
