Not in the same league? The schecter takes the cake man. I owned a PRS and a Les Paul and then I got a Schecter hellraiser c-1. mine has an 81/85 setup and it shreds the shit out of any guitar that has been playing at the same time as mine. The PRS sounds like a toy. Your settings must be bad my Schecter through my tiny little line 6 practice amp in my apartment sounds like dynamite, I won't play anything but a Schecter anymore they are the best hands down.
@davecg44: I agree with you completely - the Schecter is an absolute beast for high gain sounds. I own 7 other guitars and would have to say the Schecter is one of my favourites - sound and build wise. Excellent value for money. I used the term for the clean sounds though - in that deptt. the modified explorer and the PRS are better to my ears (even with Schecter coil tapped).
im stuck man theres two different guitars i want one is a schecter limited edition that they dont sell anymore and than there is the epiphone les paul standard can you help at all?
@inCYDable: Sure. What can I do to help? Are you asking for my advice regarding them sound-wise - I can help out there since I own an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II and have played a few Epiphone Les Paul standards over the years.
@axedoc2010 yeah can you give me any advice because i always loved the avenger body type anyways on the schecters and it has a badass finish and it might be my only chance to get it but than on the other hand the epiphone isnt exactly like the gibson but its still like a classic guitar and its really nice but yes can you give me any advice?
@inCYDable: @inCYDable: Okay. I love the Les Paul - its my main guitar. I play in a classic rock band so the Les Paul Marshall tone is hard to beat. That said the Schecter can do just about everything the LP can and more. Coil taps provide a real single coil option, the EMGs are killer pickups and the sustain matches the LPs. Construction wise the Schecters are much better built than the Epiphone LPs.
@inCYDable: I love the round bell like tone of the LP when played clean and to me the sound has more character for clean and crunch sounds. But the moment you get into high gain territory the Schecter is everything one could ask for sound wise. Looks wise I think the LP is the most beautiful guitar ever made, but that's obviously a very personal choice. So your choice really boils down to what kind of music you are going to use it for.
@whitepowa: Yes indeed. I love the coil tap on the Schecter. I kick in my Dynacomp when I coil tap and its a very satisfying sound :). Am continually amazed as to how versatile the C-1 Hellraiser is. Cheers!

@inCYDable: Lastly Epiphone LPs can vary vastly in quality. So make sure you play a few before you buy, in case you are going with a LP. Cheers.
