@Terpentijn They wrote it in collaboration. It's both their songs, although it would be nice to get a (feat. Ladysmith Black Mambazo) in the title then.
Nazista odeia essa música afinal é um culto a raça negra!O negro é belo não por ser negro, mas por ser igual a todos os demais seres!A igualdade e o respeito é o destino do ser humano!
Terpentijn, Paul Simon made them famous by introducing them to the world via his album Graceland. Ladysmith Black Mambazo are still famous in Africa for obvious reasons because of this, Paul Simon on the other hand, sorry who is Paul Simon again? ;-)
I'm just a child when I listen this song for first time. I watched the serie named "Roots" (Raízes in portuguese) with my father. I was 7 yeas old, and I still remember when this song started the serie and my father and I didn't take of the eyes from TV. It was 24 years ago.
I know that this not about it but, in some sects of Buddhism the "Homeless way" is considered part of the path towards enlightenment. Not sure why I felt the need to put that in
if this song touches even one single life, no matter if that life already has one home or ten, then I THANK YOU Paul Simon, and I dont care how many homes he has or what color he is!
Paul Simon is truly an American Music without border. This a beautiful composition. Only a talented music can perform as such. God bless you always Simon Paul.
if you want to end up homeless, dont pay your property tax.. theyll come take your home for not letting them steal from you.. they may even take you...try working for a living without paying your income tax.. try opening a business without a license.. try driving your car without a license.. carry a gun without permits...break any rule of the government, and they will come for you with the force of a gun...disobey them, youll be killed...what freedom we have here in america..love it or leave it?
Me too! I looked up the album just so I could have some nostalgia. I've just moved to another state and am going to college and I've never missed my mom so much. I remember hearing these songs over and over when she'd rock me to sleep, dance with me in the living room, etc. I especially remember her playing this album for me once when I had like a 104 fever and a painful ear infection. I just looked at the ceiling and listened to this, going to sleep.
I grew up listening to Paul Simon. Still loving it! This song in particular. The first part spoken in african sounds like something hilarious in spanish. XD Still, great song.
@WorldsGreatestVidiot ....now 11 people agree with you, and 11 don't exist. Those 11 dislikes must be them! they've come back into existence to go on ahead and change their minds. and I am #12, to point that out. :^)
@WorldsGreatestVidiot There's 11 now, maybe they got 11 really big homes, and can't imagine sleeping by a lake. When it's a cold African sky. They've never been homeless.
A crappy experience, but one they lack nonetheless, so their judgement is flawed.
This is the story of how we begin to remember. This is the powerful pulsing of love in the veins. After the dream of falling and calling your name out, these are the roots of rhythm and the roots of rhythm remain.
...and he walked the length of his days under African skies. .....
@annaevahoekstra Thanks for the info. I snapped up this (2x Grammy award winning album in '86 & title track 'best record' in 87') as soon as I could get my hands on it. It was my intro to the fantastic LS.

I just wanted to say to all of us watching... while I like watching vids of songs when I'm not near my ipod or cd's - don't forget that paul simon is an artist and this is his art! so head over to your local record store or even itunes and buy the album :)
