@otterboi26 really? far out im just watching the begining i have not seen this before and i am like the worlds biggest Bjork fan so prehaps i will message you to let you know what i thought of it...
my favorite movie of all time. I always cry at the end (like everyone else most likely). Bjork's role moved me in this film. I wish she would continue to act roles like this.
@Vampyr789 i know people's tastes differ when it comes to film and anything in life, but i truly agree with you to some extent. even if you don't cry, if you don't feel even a little moved by this movie...then im not sure what to say. it's been a few years since i've seen this but i still remember how i felt after.
I love you Bjork. I wish you still made movies. Juniper tree and this are wonderful. You are such a wonderful actress and singer. Please come back to the big screen. At least one more time. Once more...
@southrules can you spell cry? besides, why are we having an argument over nothing? i think we should just stfu and leave each other alone... sound fair enough? and btw i said WE not just YOU so if you shut up i will shut up, deal?
This has got to be one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. I can appreciate that it is a good movie, well written/directed and acted and it kept my attention throughout BUT, this movie realy challenges my feelings in watching other people suffer and die. The ending I can still remember vividly because it upset me so much. I will never watch this movie again.
At first this movie was hard to take seriously, but it really draws you in as you watch it. It's kind of an unrealistic movie, which seems bad but then you realize that it's almost what makes it good. Some movies are 'over realistic', it's not a movie anymore.
Can someone tell me what she gets when she says "how many are in a big one?" and the guy says "10,000"?
I love this movie! I'm doing a research paper for my humanities class on a movie and chose to do it on this one....I thought I had it on DVD, but I don't!...so thank you so much for having it on here! :)
I don't understand why people hate Lars Von Trier. This film is just so moving, Bjork's performance is intense and the directing is so inspired. Also I don't think that Von Trier takes himself so seriously...I mean with his Dogma bullshit and his stile of filmaking. He just wants to provoque us, shake us a little. We need directors like that...
Lars Von Trier is such a fantastic director but jesus... his films are so devastatingly sad. To say that this and "Breaking The Waves" are tear jerkers would be an understatement.
Ok so this movie is great. I love Bjork and seeing this just made me love her even more. Oh and i usually cry during sad films, but, my god, i was literally SOBBING through this one. Sheesh... amazing. Thanks for putting this up! =')
The original plan was to have this overutre playing over a black screen so you'd listen to it in the dark in the cinema, much like Selma would hear it. I always thought that was such a wonderful idea...
Bjork easily pulls off one of the saddest perfomances ever captured in cinema history. This film is so very unexpected. It is so quiet, and yet, it is also, at the same time, the most emotional things I have ever seen in a movie. You guys are in for one hell of a movie experience. This won the award of best picture and actress at Cannes, and, boy, did it ever deserve it. Immaculate and nearly indescribable.
I've always been a huge Bjork fan and I bought this the day It came out on DVD and cried like a school girl! It's such a sad story. "Gene...GENE" Sends shivers up my spine! xoxo
This movie has one of the most powerful, dramatic & painfully moving moment in cinema history. You need to watch the whole movie to fully affected by it. If this is a true story, I only hope this film justifies the reality of what happened.
The music is great, the movie made me cry. I love the part where she sings 75 cents when it was time for her execution. And she was dancing. Man, I love this movie and for the character, i miss her!
FACT. what dogma number is this? where is the dogma certificate at the begining of the movie? you are only allowed to use one type of camera in dogma movies, and von trier used a bunch of different types of cameras. also, this is a "musical". dogma movies cant fall in to a genre. these are all dogma rules. lets also not forget von trier said a MILLION time its not dogma in interviews. jeez...
From one point of view she seems a bit retarded, but, on the other hand, I want my anima (I am a man, anima means my female side) to be like her. Mildly autistic! - That`s my diagnosis, but my psychiatrist still doesn`t know that. Have you ever heard of ``saint lunatics``?
