Oh and also guys being 'cold' towards their girlfriends is not considered being cold it's normal. Guys walk in front of their girlfriends, don't open doors for them, don't call them/hang out with them often. Couples maybe talk to eachother/hangout once a week. the thing is PDA is not something that is normal in Japan, at all. Things like shaking hands can even be considered weird in Japan. So him not liking PDA is completely fine and normal in Japan. I can see he is a bit disappointed. In the US it might be acceptable to act all clingy and flirty but in Japan that's how hookers typically act. I know from experience. I tried flirting and physical contact. The guys went instantly from friendly to disgusted.
