Sure the biological structures or functions we see in an earth worm may have appeared later on the phylogenetic tree, but the potential of variation is, on an evolutionary scale, exactly the same. If you talking about a generational scale, Earthworms have a shorter life span and create more offspring then jellyfish do, therefore they probably have a higher mutation rate then Jellyfish (generationally).
