Honesty, if you get ONE low grade in a single class in a semester, it's not going to effect your overall GPA that much. You will have plenty of chances to raise it.
Hello, I got a D in the first semester of AP statistics in senior year. As soon as I got to know my grade I contacted the UCs i'm applying to and the admission officials told me that a single D will not necessarily rescind my application. I talked to my teacher as well who did not offer me any help other than straight out telling me that I am just bad at it I know that I am to blame here but the second semester has started and it's killing me. I think i have all the "a-g" credits.
i got a D in algebra 2 b/c i failed the final..and i didnt do anything thing about it...will it affect how the colleges/universities look at u?....what should i do to fix it?...is it too late to fix it?

@bboydjoe: A bit. They look at overall GPA. So, if you have a fairly high GPA still, even with that, it will be fine. And, they will recognize it's not entirely something focused on by that field (IE, if you got a C in biochem, there might be a problem).
@nats4themusic08 : hi, that's a good question. If you ask the question on our facebook page, a counselor will be able to answer it. The more specific a question is, the more likely our counselor is to video-answer. Thanks.
@nats4themusic08: Do what you like doing. If you like music, do that, do the best you can. If you like volunteering at the YMCA, or with invisible children, or earthcore, do that. Honestly, write something that you are passionate about, colleges can sniff out a fake. Be yourself, that's what colleges care about. They don't care about the person you want to make yourself out to be for colleges.
I got a D in my pre-AP precalculus class and I am going to take calculus 1 next year at my high school a D is considered a passing grade.. should I retake the precalc class next year?
@carolina1bernardina: hi, and thanks for the question... the counselor will see your question when you ask it on our facebook page; in case you don't want this question appearing on your wall, simply uncheck the 'post to facebook' box of your question.
@carolina1bernardina : Hi, Our counselor answered your question. Please check it out on our facebook page. Hope it helps, and don't hesitate to ask any other questions to Purvi. Thanks!
The key is prevention. Top ways to make sure you avoid D's and C's is to pre-read the text book before you go to class, action questions during the lecture and take good notes, and of course study a couple of hours a day.
Never try to cram in a technical class. You're tested on your understanding, and you cannot cram understanding. ;)
Do you have to take the SAT test in order to graduate or be excepted into a community college?
