  • I believe you mean 2mm of xmax, secondly, staying within the operating range (within xmax range) will keep the distortion down but a stronger magnet will reduce distortions within the xmax. Outside the xmax, distortion will go crazy and just be a flapper. Keeping the xmax lower within the xmax does not lower distortion - simply means the speaker call play the volume with out straining.

  • That sub looks insane! I want one :P

  • all you idiots would not recognize the term "pure bass" unless you feel your balls being jammed up your bunghole. Pure bass is about linear response (something you will never hear in a high SPL driver) and under-control air motion. All together, pure bass is not about massive amounts of air being pumped around, its about hearing every frequency as equal...I heard all the frequencies...from 10 feet away!!!

  • big dislike....:|

  • nice big sub!!

but was that on low volume?

  • Are you sure the sub was connected?

  • WHAT KIND OF PAINT DID YOU YOUS BRO

  • what are you powering it with?

  • nice sub how many watts does that bad boy handle.

  • I know this vid is alot older but you should really disconnect ur satellite's input whilst running bass tests because bass test freq isnt designed to run through satellite speakers and can ruin them... just sayin

  • this sub is fukin huge but i like it:)

  • You should have played Bass I Love You

  • come on, Bass I love you sucks and is only made to make your woofer flop around like a plastic bag, making it look impressive.

  • I respectfully disagree.

Bass I love you contains tremendously low notes, some hitting as low as 10 hertz, but of course, you don't know that. The reason you say this is because you probably have a 10 dollar 2.1 speaker system from Wal-Mart. Also, you can't MAKE a song that only makes your subwoofer flop around, in order to do that you would have to make one that would be directed at a certain subwoofer, that couldn't produce low notes. Stop commenting with false knowledge fag.

  • The problem with that is that most people showing off their subwoofer with that song use subwoofers that only move, but really can't move enough air to even make a sound at those levels.

    By other words, showing off.

And btw, how much do you need to pay to have a subwoofer that actually manage to reproduce 10 hz? Probably the same amount you paid for your house?

Stop being a ass about it.

And no I don't have any walmart speakers, If you really care, send me a pm.

    And the song is terrible.

  • @Massivecarcrash well son, i have a 2 ten inch subwoofers that came in a nice inclosure for $120 and that is more than capable of 10hz

  • That thing is huge

  • i would turn it up until the ceramic statues would brake

  • I have cranked it up on more than one occasion. Surprisingly, as loud has gets I get very little rattling. Probably due to the fact we heavily insulated the walls along with the acoustical ceiling keeping things under control.

  • Very nice, I've seen all your "Home Theater Upgrade Vlog" vids! Want a good bass this song, try out "Bass, I love you - Bassotronics"

  • Tamias, I started playing around with something that allows much more excursion with a higher BL.

Variable density coils, the LM design.

with a constant density coil, what you say in the description is true,

but, with a variable density coil, it is false, 'cause the varying density actually raises the BL big time, the magnet actually doesnt affect the whole coil, this is why most coils burn out from the top, when you modify the shape of the coil, each segment gets more of the magnets BL.

  • basically what im saying is, my new drivers will be able to eat golith alive (not vore though, cause dats just nasty)

varied coils allowing OVER 3 inches excursion with an extremely high BL...

Quad stacked magnet, oldschool Lightning Audio Storm X2 / TC 3HP basket.

hell yea, my new woofers will put out big time, looking at 10cube tuned to 28hz, maybe a horn loaded box, havent decided yet.

but anyways, Tamias, check out a variable density coil subwoofer, it'll make that CSS look like shit :O

  • Be interesting to see a yt vid of a variable density coil based sub in action.

  • look for the RL S subwoofer, its a variable density coil based sub :D

  • watch?v=bvbAYy8tICw&feature=related

  • I hate to break it to you Sic, the sdx IS the better woofer in this case, comparing the RL-s to it is worthless, you see, the problem with the RL-s is that it has such a low sensitivity that its gonna use more than its xmax to catch up to the sdx. youre comparing 82db (probably at 2.83v) to a driver rated at 87.3 db 1w/1m which is closer to 90 at 2.83v. (89 1w/m tested) if you use a woofer tester you'll see that the specs on the SDX are underrated in terms of Sensitivity. do the math.

  • even with the 2kw capability compared to the 1kw of the SDX, the RL-s will usually run out excursion shortly after the SDX in RMS values anyways.

  • not really, your forgetting how much motor force that an inconsistant wound coil can pull, it moves a LOT more than your average sub. I suggest you look up TC Sounds LMS driver.

the RL-s is essentially a LMS thats cheaper.

  • The RL-s is NOT and LMS motor system. the right idea, yes. but the TC sound LMS and the RL-s are different technologies.

  • RL-s has more motor control, inconsistant coil man. it'll hit even tighter than that one. think about how the magnet utilizes the coil, its a bending wind that touches the top, bottom and a little of the middle on the coil, with an inconsistant coil, each section pulls more motor force.

    Sensitivity only means so much.

Plus, I like RL-P's a tad bit more. which, is rated at 89.67 sensitivity, personally im a bigger fan of Fi than anything else, however, AQ is my favorite of all time now.

  • the RL-p is a different tech than the RL-s again. lol. notice only 27.4mm of xmax, and 89 sensi on an 18 is low. like i said, 89 1w/m on the SDX. sound splinter rates on their site in 2.83v which is more than 1w rms. Sensi in 2.83v on the sdx is roughly 91 when you use the same specs. 3 dbs is almost 2x as loud. so once again, the SDX beats the RL-p's and the RL-s.

  • plus the SDX also has 30mm xmax, 40mm xmech! that means a full 80mm travel p-p with similar distortion to tryin to get the RL-P to 30mm. 60mm vs 80mm p-p is a big difference.

  • play "bass i love you" its a song that is only low notes

  • camera does it no justice

  • looks nice but it doesnt appear to be moving much at all, your cam teh suxors at lows D:

  • I have to agree with the not moving much part.

I'd like to see your system playing Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music and maybe some of that pipe organ stuff that you talked about. That should get things jumpin.

  • Ah dude, your camera didn't pick up the lows.

  • nice woofer i see you have a turntable what brand and modle is it?

  • Thanks. My turntable is a Luxmen P-99. It dates back to probably to the mid 80's. But the build quality is superb and it sounds every bit as good as a any CD player.
