sendz a prayer and gentle hug . i was diagnosed with Epilepsy in May 2010 . I have grand mal , complex partial . and starting in Jan 2011 i also starting having absence seizures. i'm 24 year old female . i just wanted to let you know that your not alone . after my seizures i get a bad headache that brings me to tears .
My daughter was diagnosed with infatile spasm syndrome... she saw a nurologist. i would suggest it.. she is now on ACTH and it has taken her seizures away..how is he doing now??
Thank you for your comment. Mitch was diagnosed at 4.5 months with Tuberous Sclerosis complex causing his infantile spasms. This was almost 3 years ago now. He's currently on Lamictal and Keppra and is still uncontrolled. Our next option for trying to control his seizures is to remove the Left Temporal Lobe of his brain.
Seizures are common in younger children i was younger and had seizures i havent had one since i was 2 almost 11 years ago its very common and u will notice changes such as much less of these symptoms or if its a disease it can be taken care of very easily
Thank you for your comment. My son was subsequently diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex after having Infantile Spasms. Unfortunately, treatment isn't exactly easy, but he does his best and that's all we can ask for :)
Treatment isnt always easy but most of the time in these kinds of seizures it is easier to take care of then adults i wish your family good luck and your son a very happy life
Hey again, ill try to comment, my lil guy had infantile spasms as well, they are taken care of with SABRIL meds, and it helps them to have no epileptic episodes, i cant believe how may kids go thru this my lil guy was 5 months now 2yrs old no more seizures thanks to sabril
This is called Infantile Spasms, my son had these at 5 months old and was diagnosed, he had an EEG to show Epileptic episodes, also can be diagnosed as West Syndrom, look into it by seeing a neurologist, i promise youll be happy that you did, my lil guy was also on SABRIL and not had any since awsome drug for the poor lil fella
Actually, he was diagnosed at 4.5 months with Tuberous Sclerosis, and yes these are Infantile Spasms. We did Sabril, it lasted about 6 months before he started having breakthrough seizures and we had to find a new drug. Thankfully the IS didn't last, although he's moved onto Complex Partial Seizures (Characteristic of his disease with the Epilepsy Progression). Thanks for your comment
My daughter also has tuberous sclerosis and is now 14 months. She has infantile spasms and partial seizures...Sabril controlled the spasms also ....She is developmentally normal also. Someone asked me the same thing about her being photosensitive. She unfortunately has a disease.
Thanks for your comment. Mitch is not photosensitive, what is happening here is between seizures he was actually "normal" and just paying attention to the tv. His IS seizures are due to him having Tuberous Sclerosis. Thank you for your concern. He's as good right now as he can be (meaning his seizures are controlled by the Sabril) :-) He's doing the best he can, and that's all we want from him!!!
I hope Mitch is doing better. I think it's good that you documented what was happening to him. Not only could it help with his medical treatment, but it could help other parents.
how is he now??

You know, it truly sucks when you're helpless and can't do anything while he or anyone is having a seizure. My heart aches for him!
