I admire anyone who does this themselves. A lot of work and patience especially for the dog. I've bad thumbs so I can't do it. Thank goodness for my dog groomer.
Would it not be easier to clip rather than hand strip? I have a Daschund x either dandy dinmont/ petit griffon vendeen, she has a double layer coat, I try to hand strip most of her but I'm now finding it harder to do, had thought of getting her clipped due to it being easier.
Wow, wish my BT would sit like that. Thank your lucky stars :) She skwirms, shuffles, moves all over. I could finish in an hour, but because of her antics, takes like three days :)
That is a tolerant little BT, but I have to agree with others here that it is much much easier on the dog if you pull in the direction the hair grows and not so much all at once. I strip mine 3 x a year, each time over the course of several nights. I watch TV with her in my lap until she falls asleep, then I can strip her for an hour or so each night and she doesn' t even know I'm doing it this way, sleeps through each session.

@sherbert64 I agree. You should hold the skin taut and pull in the direction of the hair growth and only a few hairs at a time. I have the same process as yours - in front of the TV over a period of evenings!! LOL
Less painful if you pull in the direction of the hair, this seems to be against the direction but the dog seems to be tolerating it. Gotta love Bts. Tried to post my clip but it didn't work.
He doesn't look annoyed to be stripped at all. He is lying on his back with a toy. I spent several hours today stripping my BT. A BT will not sit there quietly if in pain. They will let you know!

hello , i have a dog that s a cairn terrier mix , and she has hair , but just the rough hairs , no second coat to strip !! is this normal ? i don t know how to groom her or trim her ??? plz contact me , i need ur advice
@adkigriffons well tell him then ! he put in the uploader comments that this is to help everyone to learn instead of telling him he doesnt know how to do it help him out
Besides stripping out less hair with each pull, he should be pulling WITH the grain, meaning in the same direction that the coat grows. To pull it backwards from how it grows--or even sideways--can hurt the dog! Also, it's best to use the other hand to gently hold the dog's skin tight while you strip so the skin isn't pulled and yanked with each bit of hair pulled.
Actually, hand stripping when done properly does not hurt. The dog in the video is annoyed because the person in the video is pulling out too much hair at a time. You have to pull 3 or 4 hairs at a time to be doing it correctly, and then the dog won't mind :)
Damn.... you feed him 20oz steaks

@xpixilovesmakeupx you can't clip a border terrier - has to be hand stripped, otherwise the outer coat doesn't grow properly.
