as you can see, this plane is mostly likely an old 737, which doesn't have a screen to display the safety instructions in video. Mostly this kind of old planes only fly domestically, so English is not a big problem anyway. The big jet like A330,340 that china eastern use for international flight all have safety videos, which is clearly understandable.

I dont know about in China but in UK the CAA require require carriers to do a manual demo at least a few days in each month. sometimes IFE equipment breaks dowb suddenly and u have to resort to manual demo at the last minute.

passengers can always rely on the safety card in the front seat pocket, in this case it should be in both english and chinese ,most travellers would probably know anyway .
