  • I grew up in the 80's watching the animationYamato and now I'm very excited about all this! THey made a live action movie! This is SO amazing!

  • Vi o filme, muitooooooo bom , !

Reviver a Yamato de novo e como filme , foi demais!

  • Hollywood and America must learn to appreciate a film made by a culture other than their own. US film industries has grown ingornat and belive that forgin films must be "Americanised" in order to be made appealing to their audience. The audience, or a great portion of it, are equally ingnorant and show no tolerance for movies that convey the meanings of a forign culture. When hollywood takes these films they stamp out those cultural meanings and replace them with elements of their own culture.

  • asssiti o filem hoje muito bom quero agora o macross com a historia do frontier que tem a melhor trilha sonora

  • i always took this to mean that japan regained it's honor by having the yamato become the argo the spirit of the old japan that launched it's cowardly sneak attack had redeemed itself through the honorable sacrafice of the crew. if you read the original crew profiles they were diverse even in the japanse series, nova was from tx, mark from ny, etc. this cast looks cold and distant. this is going to suck. i'd say back to the drawing board.

  • As a yamto fan this movie looks terrible. The Japanese are trying to be "american" or appeal to that market with the style and it looks like a bad video game. A Yamato movie should be like Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur,Fall of the Roman Empire, not stupid star wars or that horrible RDmoore galactica.

  • Yes

    Very cool

    Turn be child

  • its to bad they used the name Yamato ... its a ship that did nothing for the japanese in ww2. often called hotel Yamato. cus she was always in port ... lol

  • LOL I remember when I was a kid I use to watch anime and movies dubbed in spanish with different titles and names for the characters. Now that I am older I want to see all in japanese language with subtitles. English voices in case its a US movie. Its not great to see Stallone speaking spanish, no way!

  • Wtf is with all this racism? Political correctness? bullshit. Star trek aired in japan in the 70's with the name of the USS enterprise. Japanese actors? Dude, honestly, if they were to make a diverse crew, they'd have to make everything in english, which makes the dialog sound like garbage. I can't even stand dubbed anime today... Stop being so anal about japanese everything. They're just trying to produce a nice movie.

  • I am an American I loved the TV series , and I know that I will love it as a movie.

  • Space Battleship Hello Kitty. - My niece is 2, she would flip over it, yet it just shows that 1974 & 2010 was & is WAY different from the 1940's. In my dad's time , U boats like the U234 were often sent to Japan, our Bismark, was just as feared by the allies. The Yamato was a friend to them not an enemy. Americans preserve the USS Iowa for its defense of the nation, NOT for Jim Crow, Segregation , or Japanese internment. Better to resurrect Ships, than causes they fought for.

  • i wish this will be in theaters in america and europe

  • December 7, 2010: Remember Pearl Harbor COULD have been prevented.

  • Space Battleship Hello Kitty. I loved Yamato/Starblazers as a kid and hope this comes to the US in some form. But seriously, what is the fascination with Hello Kitty?

  • @andypage9

both yamato and hello kitty were made in 1974.

  • This going to be greatest movies... I hope some one dubbed in latin spanish ^^

  • Saw a review. Great visuals, rubbish acting apparently. Not surprised.

  • I can't wait to dub this with Wild stars east cost American Accent and let people know that "so and so made it out in time" after his ship blows up in front of us.

  • @UltraGokin One thing that I agree with is that American movies sometimes seem to put quality of writing, especially that of dialog, upon the back burner whn compared with visual effects. Look at Avatar...stunning visuals...cringe-inducing dialog.

  • NOOOOO!!!! Not Hello Kitty!

  • Yamato enters the 21st century.... :)

  • 愛する家族のために!

    って日本っぽくない。

    日本とは言わないが地球のためとか何とか

    ならんかったんかい!

  • Listen, we all know in a gun duel USS Iowa with her advanced radar and fire control computers would have been putting 16” shells into Yamato along before she ever got a shot off, if at all. That said, as far as begrudging the glorification of a Japanese WW2 battleship in a movie, well… Ask the hundreds of thousands of main land Asians massacred by the Japanese in witch the Yamato represents.

  • @ebenezer1690 yeah in that opening scene where the american pilot respectfully salutes the yamaoto as it sinks like an honored opponent I was like BULLSHIT!!!!!! the last think our pilots had for the japanese was respect. The only thing they were thinking was that they'd finaly had revenge. If you want to see a good WWII anime watch zipang.

  • @ebenezer1690 "Glorfication... in witch (sic) the Yamato represents?"

Yamato, in the series, did not represent any of that. Quite the contrary, it was on the other side.

  • ya know I wish it had a more diverse cast not for political correctnesss or anything but because several members of the original cast were clearly non japanese... it lloks like every single member of this crew is japanese and it's supposed to be an international ship right? Still I want to see this movie really badly. Hope it gets an american release soon.

  • @Limejello10512 It was only when the original series got edited for an english audience that Russian, Scottish and accents of other countries were added.

  • @amsablan actually I was talking about the visualization of the cuaracters. They don't look japanese and I know japan draws blonde japanese alot (I mean really Shin Kazama's japanese? Hello we WON world war II) but in a setting like yamato where all the nations of the world are huddled together in a few remaining outposts I find it hard to believe that they'd single out all japanese crew men from one outpost. You know again it's not a pc thing I just feel like they're changing the original.

  • Comment removed

  • @Limejello10512 This is a japanese thing though. They have always painted figures as non-japanese looking, but always assume they are japanese unless stated otherwise. :P

  • @hajkie I could see the main character and plenty crew members being japanese but I think they whould have some white people the leading lady should at lest be played by a white blonde girl and she seems to be japanese in this and she could be japanese but at least dye her hair blonde.

  • @Limejello10512 Well, it doesnt really matter if they should or shouldn't. This is how the japanese makes movies. Just like hollywood puts a white guy in prince of persia as the lead actor. :)

  • @hajkie oh geez I hated that too. I mean I know they made him up to look pseudo persian but you still knew. I was even talking about that the other day. Every time I see a trailer for that I cringe. He doesn't have to be persian but he should at least be mid eastern/asia minoric. And you know what almost everyone in this was white. It's like this old movie I saw where marco polo vists china and they were all played by white people and some of them had red hair.

  • @Limejello10512 lmao, so true.

  • Comment removed

  • @hajkie there is an interesting video about anime and japan. check out "Are anime characters caucasian or japanese" which is on my channel.

  • You can see a lot of costuming and battle scenes influenced by Bab5, BSG, Space: Above and Beyond. Great to see the influences of the original Starblazers and other 70s/80s anime come full circle.

  • I wish Japanese made movies about robot wars. ya know.I prey that they would fix Transformers in the future.

  • who cares what the americans think canada wants it .

  • @Susielikesit Thumbs up buddy Canadians are cool

  • @Kaisertoji

    To funny !

  • If it is titled Space Battleship Yamato or StarBlazers I don't care. I have dreamed for over 30 years about this becoming a movie and if it is the name of the biggest battleship in history well that is a plus. Counting the days and I thank God the Japanese are doing the movie and not someone over here that would screw up the original idea.

  • Oh man, I am loving this! I hope to see it if it ever comes out here in USA =-)

Yes, I know Yamato was our adversary during WW2, but it has nothing to do with a great movie. And WHY Shouldn't Japan name a space battleship after their flag-ship anyways? We do it all the time, look at USS Enterprise! =-)

  • i hope it shown in the states and in subtitles

  • they made DR. SADO a WOMAN!!!!!

  • Here on Brazil, I am counting the days...

  • UCHUU SENKAN YAMATOOOOOOOO RULESSSS!!!!

  • This looks so awesome

  • I hope that this gets a realease in Australia, even if just a DVD release.

  • I cannot wait to see this movie. Hopefully it will have english subtitles or dubbed in english. I grew up in the Philippines and watched every episode until our president back then (Marcos) Banned it from the air waves including Voltes V, Mazinger Z, and Diamos. He viewed the animation to violent. So I had to wait till now to see the end of all those animations once I tracked down complete DVD's here in the USA.

  • @BigMikeMuniz Dude only the Toei carttons were banned, I remember Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman) and StarBlazers (Yamato) were hown in channel 13 after the big Robots were banned. And the reason for them being banned was for the alleged subversive undertones.

  • i want to hear more of the new song by Steven Tyler "Love Lives" post it full!!!!

  • The moment this movie is released in my country, I'll be there! and I'll buy two tickets...;-).

  • do you think that they'll get Isao Sasaki to do the music again?

  • A classic cartoon of a famous and respected battleship and Hello Kitty.......nuff said.

  • i get mad why bring anime to america if they done plan to release to america there been ps2 games and ps3 games of star blazers never relised to amaerica.

certain shows i seen like sailormoon live ,its out now sub ,but like this other they never bring over

  • No idea what they're saying but this looks FANTASTIC. And I'm very happy the Japanese are doing this and not the US. It is their property and the US doesn't have the best track record in translating Japanese properties to live action well at all. See: Speed Racer

  • I remember star blazers as a kid I watched it every morning loved the drama and emotion of the characters my favorite was nova

  • @talcfrj Well believe it or not that's actually a conscious decision at this point. They’re INTENTIONALY being uncreative. Everyone’s looking for branded material, remakes and the like. They want tried and true stuff which they know will sell that’s at the same time new and fresh to outsell the other tried and true stuff. It's mostly cause of the internet. Most mediums have been loosing so much business to it no one want's to take risks any more so they market the hell out of old ideas.

  • @talcfrj

the american film industry has been pretty bad for the better-part of the past 20 years. the special effects seem to take away from and make more base our tastes for film.

the average american has very moronic taste in movies.

  • @talcfrj @talcfrj Oh absoloutley....know what it is? The internet. everyone is afraid to compete with it so they want "Branded" material (that means remakes and stuff) because they know it already has a following. It's a safe if not terribly potentialy lucritive endevour. Actually I must admit Yamato kinda falls into this category. (as excited as I am to see it)

  • @talcfrj The technological work of movies nowadays shouldnt compensate for the lack of creativity..Nothing should be put higher imo. I hate when all a movie has is bright lights&big explosions. I feel when ppl like a movie that lacks substance, but has lots of cg effects, etc, its usually ppl w/a childlike mentality & attention span. Sadly, these types are becoming the new generation of movie goer because thats all they have to grow up on..uncreative, bright&flashy movies..save for a rare few.=(

  • at 1:36 most random dude ever

Can't wait to see the movie!

  • すばらしい。絶対に見に行かない。

  • Does anybody have any news about this movie very litle on web about it

  • This is the ONLY movie I'd fly half way across the world to watch.

    LONG LIVE YAMATO!!!

  • おい、ヤマトとキティちゃんのコラボなんて、マジやめれ・・・

  • oh man can't wait to see this movie!!!!

  • YEAAAHHHHH GO JAPAN GO!!!

It´s time to stop the american industrie!!!

The hollywood movies are stupids, borings, just with a lot of visual effects!

    USA SUCKS!

  • @tvdementetv Hollywood does do good movies, sometimes. And I've also seen some Japanese movies that weren't very good either. It's true that Japan is ahead in some areas, but they have their own trashy movies that try to appeal to one specific demographic.

  • @ebwje Ok, may be then is cause I am tired of the american garbage!

  • I grew up with Starblazers, it was the first anime I really got into. During college I discovered the Yamato movies and though I had to get used to subtitles and different voices, I loved it just the same.

Now a bit older I pray that somehow we outside of Japan get access to the original Yamato series minus the edits that were given to us Starblazer fans so we can experience it in it's purest form.

To say I'm excited by both Yamato Rebirth anime and this live action movie is an understatement.

  • I think the wrong part of the USA change names, cut parts and censor everything ¬ ¬ this is very tense, they should leave everything original ^ ^

  • I hope they'll bring pervy robot Analylizer to this movie.

  • They should make Deslok a blue ben aflak....

  • It does'nt look right without White actors because in the anime they were white and Captain Avatar is some japanese guy dressed like santa clause.

  • @snowdog03

I am European but this kind of racist comments just make me wanna puke, this shows the level of some people. If you don't have any other comments to do, please restrain yourself in regards for others. Plus, the actors chosen for the film are very great ones and really much better than most American brainless fake faced actors. If you don't know them, make some research!!!

  • Yeah the US and Japan were at one time engaged in conflict but at least the Japs were an honorable enemy unlike those chicken-shit Muslims that blow up schools, mosques and market places filled with civilians. 133 days to go!

  • キティちゃんが戦闘班かよ(・・?)

  • YAMATO IS LOVED WORLD WIDE!! IT HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST FAN BASE THERE IS. THIS SHOULD BE SHOWN IN THEATERS EVERYWHERE!! YAMATO STARTED IT ALL,STAR WARS BATTLESTAR GALACTICA COPIED YAMATO AND ARE NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE.

  • @MrYamato67 Damn right!!... it started hype! 1973 onward.. Saw Yamato back in 1980 as Star Blazers yet I still revere the show in its original form. =)

  • @SpikeCBT1 So do i! I have seen the original series in japanese and i also perfer it that way! Here in L.A we had a store back in the early 80s in downtown called pony to go around in little toyko and they sold all kinds of impoted yamato toys, shirts, games etc and you could get copies of yamato on vhs.

  • @MrYamato67 Wow is the shouting REALLY necessary?

  • @67irishfire Lmao!! Really? i just used caps..dont look to much into it nerd!!!

  • @MrYamato67

maybe but they didn't spend enough to make it so. battlestar might have been influenced by yamato but that is the problem, they raised the bar while doing it, and so when people see yamato now they expect more, especially when many scenes feel like they were filmed for tv.

  • @omgwtfbbqstfu Regardless! i am glad that it was made into live action, maybe its not perfect but my love for this anime can be forgiving.Watching the YAMATO rise from the seabed and fire the wave motion gun is awesome!!!

  • Still no Desslar?

  • I explain to all that felt offended, that in any moment I accused the American people but, some powerful of the industry of the entertainment of the it USA. And that is just my opinion, exactly for the own exhibition it USA us like "Starblazers" and not "Space Battleship Yamato". Until today, any one is enough to wonder the because of the change of the name? To finish this subject, I just answered to the American friend that had asked me a question.

  • @talcfrj The name change was for two reasons. First, when it came out in America, most of our parents were old enough to remember the war and likely would not have liked the idea of a Japanese warship being treated nicely. Also, Starblazers is a heavily edited version of Uchuu Senkan Yamato. After taking out the violence, the doctor's drinking and Yuki getting grabbed, it is very different from the original!

  • @talcfrj

It says it is called battleship yamato on imdb english, so I don't know what this starblazers business is about.

the problem with the film is that it looks kind of cheap much of the time, in ways not as well shot as battle star galactica, and that was a tv series, which is why it won't hold up for us cinematic distribution. no one cares about yamato/ww2 these days, it offends no one in the us, that still goes to the movies.

  • Despite a few recent minor squabbles, Japan and the U.S. are strong allies and friends.

I loved this show as a kid and using the biggest battleship ever built as a badass spaceship is too damn cool.

  • @MrBizcotti

yea building plastic models many of us had a yamato in fact.

  • @talcfrj Although the The United States and The Empire of Japan fought a bitter war none of us forgets that the people of both countries fought for their people and their honor. I as a Veteran and Grandchld of a WWII Veteran have no problem with a movie named for your nations most famous flagship. Enterprise was once an English warship, but yet we have named a Warship and our first Space Shuttle for her, and we once fought against England as well. I can tell you I am very excited about it.

  • Comment removed

  • This deserves a wordwide release.

  • The movie will be coming out in December of 2010. It will leave simultaneously in Japan and in Brazil. I believe that in U.S.A. can delay it to arrive, because the companies of entertainment North American, perhaps, would not like to promote something that reminds an enemy warship during the Second War. Excuse the grammar, because, I am using a translating software.

  • @talcfrj Japan has not been our enemy for over 60 years. Most of our WW2 veterans are dead now. The animated version of this series ran on air in the U.S. around 30 years ago. While they did change the name of the ship at that time, I believe now that there would be no need to do so. The few people who might get upset about a movie featuring a Japanese battleship are not the kind who would go to see a science fiction movie like this anyway. So I think it would be fine to release it as is. ^_^

  • @Hanamorichan But how long before Hollywood remakes it and turns it into something we won't even recognize?

  • @talcfrj believe it or not most people are over the second world war here sir. Its not recent history anymore. I remember a decade or so ago Disney had movie rights to this for releasing a Starblazers version in the US and using the USS Arizona as the Argo. But that was scrapped. I cant wait to see this film and I do hope hollywood someday does a Starblazers version as I think it would do really well here in the US

  • @talcfrj

    Brazil? Are you shure?

    Buying tickets tomorrow!!!!

  • @talcfrj man I hope that's not the reason.... I had to admit that there was part of me that thought it was a little weird it was named Yamato but I just figured japan was a part of earth too. When I saw that seen with the Americans saluting the Yamato like they felt guilty I was like....er no. However WWII is water under the bridge I don't think anyone will find it offensive that they're building a ship out of the yamato...it's actually kind of cool and educational.

  • I am so glad they kept the original ship design, otherwise it would have sucked in so many levels. Look at what happened with Star Trek...

  • @Humbertusmarius

Don't agree with you. I think they did a great job on designing the new "alternative-universe Enterprise". Yamato, on the other hand, is remodified from the real ship, the design should be and must be kept as close as the original.

  • @henrychen1002

I see what you mean, it's a different situation. Do you know when the movie is coming out? I live in Texas so God only knows when I will be able to watch it.

  • Space Battleship Yamato The Movie: Update!

    watch?v=_vMIXm1Ab0U

  • I turely hope there is a US version. GO Star Blazers..........

  • This is gonna be awesome!

  • This movie is gonna rock the house, if the japanese do this right it will do big business in US theatres. It looks like the set designs, ship designs and uniforms are taken directly from source material-- if the whole film is like this look for this to be very successful.
