i have a problem mounting my bike rack. the screws that came with the rack doesnt fit into the slots on the bike so i went to home depot to get the right size screws (10-24 x 1/2") but as i was screwing it in, the fit didnt seem right, i guess the threading of the screws didnt match the threading on the bike. i have a diamondback outlook bike. any idea on which type of screw i need?

why does my hardtail have upper eyelets but no lower rack eyelets. THey must be there for a reason.

for some reason the rack I bought was not wide enough for my bike, I just pulled them apart so I could mount them, that should be okay correct?
