I think Stratovarius has been the most influential band on the Finnish style. I don't mean to overly generalize but Finnish bands tend to have fast speeds, catchy melodies, technical solos and good keyboard parts. CoB, Wintersun, Sonata Arctica, etc all owe a little to this band :)
