  • What a snappy tune. Who knew assassination could be so entertaining!

  • @WalkingSin1887

He talked too much about violence so they thought he was a agent provocateur so they spread word around that he was probably a cop and should be avoided.

He did meet with Emma Goldman and she did later write an essay in his defense.

  • Thomas Edison sure was a fucking monster.

  • catchy song :)

  • "Wait, my hand's still on his chair, don't pull the..."

    *switch is pulled*

  • Birthday comment.

That's about the most blazingly bright super-sad song I've ever heard, Mr. Cassidy... great vocal, nice little orchestra recording!

  • wow.... annoying

  • OMG, what's next? A hymn for Lee Harvey Oswald? An operetta lauding Squeaky Fromme? A Broadway play about John W. Hinckley? How about a movie celebrating John Lennon's killer Chapman? This is disgusting. Very bad taste.

  • BTW, I really enjoyed this video. The instruments and character of the tune seems to really capture the spirit of the time. It's a really catchy tune, I've listented to it three times.

  • President McKinley was a man that cared about all of the American people and had an excellent moral character. Czolgosz was a confused man who's weak and unstable mind was led astray by Emma Goldman's trash ideas. Some believe with good evidence that Czolgosz was backed by others(i.e.: his train ride and hotel stay appeared to be funded/people saw him off on his trip). Czolgosz regretted his act in the end. Anarchy=trash. They made good international hit men for wealthy individuals with motives.

  • Under McKinley's rule the US "liberated" the Philippines from the Spain only to colonise the Philippines themselves. During this invasion the US army massacred a lot of innocent people.

Czolgosz did not regret it. His last words were:

"I killed the President because he was the enemy of the good people the good working people. I am not sorry for my crime.....I am sorry I could not see my father"

  • Yes, we liberated them from Spain just like we liberated them from Japan in WWII.

  • After the Spanish were overthrown the land became a American colony.

  • At least it went from a monarchy to a democracy.

  • Excellent video! Great Sondheim song from ASSASSINS, as well.

  • William McKinley's words after he was shot were, "Boys! Don't let them hurt him!"

(speaking to his guards, referring to Csolgosz)

Being one of three assinated presidents hes given the least attention. But, shown by this quote, I think he is the one with the best character.

I idolize the crowd who beat Leon Csolgosz.

  • Four presidents were killed. Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, and JFK.

  • Garfield was an attempt I believe but not successful

  • No, Garfield was assassinated by Charles Julius Guiteau in 1881. He was succeeded by his VP Chester Arthur.

  • That would have been true if Garfield didn't end up dying later from the wound.

  • @OatTheGoat Nope I am Australian, I even know Garfield died from the wound.. when the Drs were working on Reagan, the senior Dr told the other that this was the most important opperation they ever performed, and dont be overly optimistic just because Reagan survived the bullet... as it it wasnt the bullet that killed Lincoln,Garfield or McKinley, but their incopetent Drs

  • McKinley was a filthy imperialist and should have been killed earlier, before the US invasions on Hawaii, Phillipines, Cuba and PuertoRico.

  • McKinley was a great president

  • Who took an attack by Cuban nationalists to declare was on Spain and gain imperialist control over the previously mentioned countries. He also sent troops to crush the Boxer Rebellion.

He was a scumbag, and I'm glad Czolgosz killed him.

  • I feel sorry for William McKinnley, and I very much appreciate the song "Whitehouse Blues" because it sensitively addresses the fact that a man dying is the subject of the whole ordeal. That being said, I also feel pretty horrible for Leon Czolgosz. He was a man committed to the betterment of the lives of working people, regardless of how deluded his efforts were. He managed to become one of the most hated men in U.S. history, and not being able to see his father before death. That is sad.

  • fuck usa

  • "Booth like the festival of booths a jewish high holy day."

This is the nuttiest sentence I've ever seen. Psh, a holiday can't be both a festival *and* a high holy day!

Also, Booths (Sukkot) is no more a Jewish name than is Dedication (Hanukkah). That is, it's not a Jewish name.

And here's a fun fact: Insisting that completely unrelated things are connected is a classic sign of schizophrenia.

Anyway, it's a shame this video's comments got so cluttered. It's a great song and a good video.

  • Look on the bright side we got bumptious TR next !

  • Czolgosz had no religious beliefs. He was raised Catholic, despised the church and rejected the belief. And he did have many Socialist beliefs.

  • he was jewish by blood. he was a murderer good they fried the bastard!

we have a lot of mamzars that are telling us what we will do. time will certainly tell.

  • They didn't have musicals written about them.

  • And as far as I'm aware, Czolgosz wasn't Jewish.

  • Oh yes he was. Verified on Google Books.

    leon Czolgosz jewish

Becoming American, Remaining Jewish ISBN 0874136946

Seems the jews were getting ancy because of all the Jewish Bolshevik Communist revolutionaries blowing things up and terrorizing nations. America was deporting their butts, and not afraid to call the INTERNATIONALISTS by their right name.

  • Check here on youtube for Benjamin Freedman, 1961 Speech. Ex-Zionist speech extract #4 (by Rassisten) about how the Jews declared war on Germany in 1933 and stores w/ German products, boycotted, "Hitlerites" and "murderers" before a single jew was ever harmed for their POLITICAL troublemaking. Freedman said Germans only started getting rough after a particular diplomat was shot and murdered in an Embassy. Freedman was involved in four presidencies from Wilson thru Roosevelt. He would know.

  • You're right. Jews are the only people who assassinate people. Which jew do you think just killed Bhutto? Booth's and Oswald's real names were Boothstein and Oswaldbaum. Oh and by the way, Czolgosz's mother was Jewish, but his dad was Roman Catholic and that's how he was raised. You are a hate filled little man. Hope it takes you far in life.

  • Yeah... I thought there was something odd about how he was raised a Roman Catholic, and was part of a Christian Utopian society at one point...?

I did a google search on "Leon Czolgosz Jewish." Nothing relevant popped up.

Even if he was Jewish, so? Explain exactly which tenants of Judaism seem to fit so well with communism- wait... Czolgosz was an anarchist, not a communist.

  • Lustiger the recently deceased Catholic archbishop of France was jewish.

they said Kiddish over his grave.

Your shit dont fly anymore...the end of the line is fast approaching.

    come out of her.

  • The talmud.

  • Someone trying to unhinge her and her subvert cohort jew IMRAN KAHN from pakistans ass.

    google it

  • Booth like the festival of booths a jewish high holy day. Oswald was probably a jewish KGB agent.

And it dosent matter how he was raised. Born of a jewish mother and your a jew. ask a rabbi.

Czolgosz is the angry little murderer.

  • Its a known thing pannic.

    Jewish on his mothers side.

you think everybody but a jew came out of trees and never read a book dont you.

    what complete vanity.

report this "canard" to abe (the filth) foxman

  • Czołgosz wasn`t a Jew, he was a Pole from a catholic family...

  • The electrocution is a reenactment. But, the background, outcome and thus lyrics of the song are true enough.

  • are true this video???

  • dumbest $hit I heard today

  • I give you brownie points for the song. Patrick Cassidy was excellent as the Balladeer.

  • I actually found this video by looking for a professional performance of this song. I'm a little surprised by the use of "The Ballad of Czolgosz," since it's in no way supportive of McKinley's assassination. I guess the point of this video is just to shine the spotlight on an intriguing historical figure?

  • Funny. I came accross this video looking for that song, also. I'm thinking the same thing. I find it funny how one person called it "smarmy leftist lyrics," when the Balladeer is making fun of him, really.

Oh, and those Broadway Assassins vids? They're all gone now.

  • he was an anarcist of the propaganda by the deed variety. a passion for destruction is also a creative passion.

  • The propaganda of the deed does nothing but substitutes an act of the foolish and impatient sect or minority in place of mass and collective working class struggle. Marx said "The development of socialist sectarianism and that of real working class movements always stand in inverse ratio to eachother" Lets get serious about changing the world and start organizing instead of blowing shit up.

  • i agree. sorry for the assinine comment. i was thinking of a movie.

  • And you quoted Bakunin I believe, not a movie.

  • The point to that propaganda of it is to get people to notice a conflict and get out of their indifference to take a stand to eventualy solve it, not to blow shit up, even Kropotkin said "One such act may, in a few days, make more propaganda than thousands of pamphlets"

  • The only thing people notice when you blow shit up is exactly that. People aren't usually that politically conscious to understand that blowing shit up means that they're suppose to randomly fight the gov't. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

  • Maybe, but I'm far to individualist to just say "PEOPLE do this and that". Besides I was just stating a definition of "propaganda of the deed".

  • All I'm saying is that the "propaganda of the deed" is a dead end strategy if you're trying to win larger sections of society to your cause of overthrowing a government. For a task that big, it requires patient and meticulous organization, planning, and cooperation from hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. A secret cadre of 10 - 20 anarchists throwing flamed bottles through a window not only looks ridiculous, but it only serves as a complete detriment to all social movements.

  • And all I'm saying is that may be the case but that doesnt make the point of it looking ridiculous or serving as that, by definition and it does has a deeper background.

  • So you're going to commit the "propaganda of the deed" only because it doesn't look ridiculous? Why are you still trying to defend such acts? What's your objective? Is it to organize the working class to overthrow capitalism, or is it to just go out on the streets and cause a ruckus?

  • What? Hahaha. Gee drama, I'm giving you concepts man, chill. I'm basicly saying that might be the way you look a it but it isn't supposed to be that way in theory :| Relax!

  • It's a flawed theory.

  • Oh I'm sorry I forgot we live in a world full of perfection (:

  • There are better theories than the "propaganda of the deed"

  • Of course! Theres E=mc2 and whatnot.

  • No, there's Marxism!

  • Comment removed

  • I thought you said 'better theories."

  • I hope that Czolgosz suffered and fried in that damn chair...that's what he gets for killing Pres. McKinley....FRY IN HELL, MOTHERF#$#$@!!!

  • You are very mature for being 45 years old. XD

  • Age sometimes brings wisdom and clarity and sometimes just solidifies prejudice and dogma. We can only hope that the majority of people fall into the first category. ;-)

  • not aquarian35, who remains and will probably remain a knee jerk reactionary.

  • Though I disagree with his political stance, I consider Czolgosz a hero. May he rest in peace.

  • The song is from the broadway musical "Assassins" by Stephen Sondheim. Also features songs from the point of view of Booth, Hinckley, Frome, and many others.

  • I am beginning to hate Broadway.

  • "Broadway musical?" I hesitate to call it that. It opened Off-Broadway in 1990, and ran for 73 or so performances. The track used here is from that cast. It didn't hit Broadway until 2004. Quite possibly the most controversial musical ever made. >_>

  • That's fantastic song. Great job!

  • Yea George W Bush & Dick Cheney went back in time and killed Mckinley

  • love the video! it just has something about it that is weird, yet still funny, and at the same time probably offensive to some people. ah my favorite type of video. what song is that? i've never heard it. i want it though..ipod material!!

  • I just put up vid. on assassination of McKinley by Czolgasz.

  • Can someone please explain to me how McKinley was a tyrant? Which book can this information be found in?

  • I just put up vid. on assassination of McKinley by Czolgasz. There is also talk about McKinley being a puppet in hand of Mark Hanna.

I'll be putting up more on here, there is 8 pieces of movie I got to post.

  • viva gaetano bresci

  • Nothing better than electrocution. For a light hearted parody of the death penalty however, see my movie which advocates the death penalty for the crime of using cellphones in places that you shouldn't. The end scene in my movie is funny, but a bit gruesome, so don't let the kids see it.

  • McKinley was a tyrant.

  • korrdxl (3 weeks ago) Marked as spam

    McKinley was a tyrant.

Tell me please which one of them wasn't?

  • George W Bush is a benevolent ruler.

  • The "anarchists" of 1901 would today be called Socialists. Today's anarchists--and the concept of anarchy itself--are completely different.

If I recall correctly this film is an early production from Thomas Edison's movie studio. And yes, it's a recreation, not a documentary.

  • Most anarchists I know, including myself, self-identify as socialists. Of course there are differences from the original movement because times change. But what is the main difference in your opinion between then and now?

  • Not real execution! Fake!

  • True. Refer to the last paragraph of the Video Description.

  • Aside from the snarky Leftist lyrics (What's next? "Ode to Sirhan Sirhan?" "Ode to James Earl Ray? Of course not. THAT would be offensive to Lefties.) this early film is a masterpiece for its time - an early docudrama of events that had occurred just a few years earlier.

  • they are not really leftist lyrics...it's from a musical called assassins, that shows the sides of the assassins and the side of sanity/america/right. it's a very good musical, very creative, slightly taboo, but it's meant to be in a story telling manner, not to take seriously.

  • what the hell?

  • leonnnnnnnnnnnn mon petit oiseau!!!! ]:

PS: There's better pictures of him! The one at the beginning looks ugly. ^^ And, also, his middle name was Franz, not Frank.

  • anarchy. the most failed system of any government.

  • Thebest, define not-anarchy. At present, the icecaps are melting down and the ocean level is gonna put every one of the world ports under water. When that happens, all hell will break loose. Bloblous may be one of the few sane persons around. If everyone was like him, we would be living like Quakers - no pollution or global warming.

  • you haven't a clue what you're talking about - anarchy is anti-system, anti-government in the narrow sense f the word. And anarchy worked very well indeed in Spain in the 'Thirties... you have some reading to do ;-)

  • dosnt work?

  • anarchyy

  • Why not subordinate yourself and work...that translates into money too.

  • anarchy

  • Czolgosz was a great hero!

  • You're an idiot, which is probably the reason why you'll always be poor and ignorant Blobulous.

  • I may be poor but I sure as hell am not ignorant. And the reason I am poor is because I refuse to subordinate a fellow human being, and rob him of his self-determination, thus I am cast out of this abominable economic system we have.

  • what are you even talking about? you should read a few more books, you hippy. "refuse to subordinate a fellow human being"? what? are you quoting alanis morrisette lyrics or something? geeze louise.

  • blobulous, do you agree unbridled greed/capitalism was one of the main culprets behind the present global warming conondrum we find ourselves in?
