As a chinese, I should say most of chinese are cheated like this, when you foreigner travels a second level of chinese cities, you have to book the hotel has the authentication from the local goverment. this hotel post in vedio we chinese call it "black hotel" and its illegal.
god i am dreading gettin conned out there. did you guys have anymore incidents like this. whats the name of this hotel? i wanna make sure i stay well away
The subtitles more than less explain it. It's hidden camera footage of an argument with a dodgy hotel owner who lied to our friends (and us) about what the hotel has and will provide, and then decided to not give back the deposit when our friends decided to leave. So it's just a long and stupid argument. Not very interesting, but I put it in because it does show how dumb these situations can get.
People, as a Chinese myself I apologise for my country having this type of scamers who make lots money out of non-locals (even Chinese travellers are their targets).
One piece of advice from me is never trust those ppl who come to you and try to make business around train/bus station areas, they always target travellers who don't know the places well.
Hey! Don't apologize, you didn't do anything. There are scammers, liars, and cheaters in every country. That's why every country has police, courts, and prisons.
Ultimately, when people decide to travel, they have to keep in mind that by being unfamiliar with the local procedures they make themselves an easy target.
But you are right: pretty much 90% of the time if YOU are approached by someone else, it will be a scam. Anytime money is mentioned, best to walk away.
Um...I think this is a bad example of "black cat, white cat" theory... Sometimes my father says to me Chinese ppl maybe have fallen too deep into "catching mice" just like were used to be too extreme identifying either "black cat or white cat", and now far too many ppl seem to ignore the fact that "HOW TO catch mice" is equally important. Hope the increasingly thickening wallets of Chinese ppl's would help to restore the ethics were once so proud of.

Pretty normal for China.
I get off on leading them on while they try to sell me some crap and then just walk off after they have tried every avenue with me.
The worst offenders are them that have learnt some english just to scam you.
Basically any one who comes up to you and says "Hello were are you from?" are at the start of a scam....
