The slots are for SD Cards, like the ones in digital cameras, so if you are planning to use SD cards on your PS3 you'll need an USB SD Card reader.

Also the version I have only has 2 USB Slots, but you could always get a USB hub if you need more.

I haven't heard anyone getting shocked from a PS3. If it was true I bet Sony would be getting in trouble.

There is only one download for the Playstation 2 on the Playstation Store and that is to allow PS2 games that needed a hard drive (Final Fantasy 11) to use the Hard Drive that the PS3 has. There is no such download that allows you to play PS2 games on a non-PS2 BC PS3.

Probably not, I'm guessing it's not the hard drive that gives it Backwards Compatibility. I guess you could try though just to confirm it.

Sony should just release some sort of Emulation Software, and update it regularly. I don't even care how much it would cost.

I forgot to answer a few of your questions. Regarding the free online play, ok Ill give the ps3 that free online play is nice, however the 360 offers a much robust online component imop, and 60 dollars a year isn't really asking to much. as far as the overheating goes, the 360 elete pretty much solved that problem, who cares anyway if it breaks if anything goes wrong with it microsoft will just send you a new one.

Hear is why, I went out and bought 3 ps2 games only to find out that my version of ps3 is not backward compatible. It turns out if You bought your ps3 after a certain date it will no longer be backward compatible.WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THAT!! The new 80gb for 399.99 ONLY has PS1 backwards compatibility (software). There is no PS2 B/C, the only consoles with PS2 B/C is the old 80gb (software, MGS4 Special bundle, discontinued) and 60gb (hardware emotion engine, discontinued).

40gb - no B/C(backwards compatibility)(can't play PS2/PS games), no memory card slots, wifi, silver trim(not a big deal)[Sony has stopped production on 40gb models]

60gb - 100% B/C, memory card slots, wifi, chrome trime[also this model is out of production]

old 80gb - 80% B/C, memory card slots, wifi, chrome trim[this model too is out of production]
