  • I learned this song and have it down to this level in my opinion. Im looking for another song at about this same difficulty to learn, any suggestions?

  • Excellent... I enjoyed your playing. Just need a little WD-40 for your fingers :P

  • @trimetaler ;-) try olive oil !

    Thanks

    Val

  • about time I heard great tone!!! ofourse the older the guitar... cheater! JK great job! I did this piece for music jury at UNM studying under Benjamin Silva (yes the Grandson of Luigi) and Micheal Chapdelaine

  • @oleskoolpunx

    Thanks !

    V.

  • @BrookClaytonRenwick

All the guitar was restored to his original state by an expert. Now it is how it was built in 1800. Thanks for the comment.

  • @rolumusic07

Merci beaucoup.

  • @TheSkocik

    I've done a few ;-)

    Val

  • You're absolutely great!!! Really awesome & nice playing! I can feel Carcassi's style comes with the play and music!!!

  • @GreenCertains

    Thank you very much ;-)

    Val.

  • Thank god, I need to learn this piece for my next exam and have just watched the hillbilly breakneck version,

The pace, tone and dynamics here are beautiful.

I'm really looking forward to taking this on now.

On a side note, what a beautiful guitar.

  • @juiceterry67

hello, Good luck with this piece. Perhaps it should be played a little bit faster ? (I can't go much faster because I'm playing without nails)

    V.

  • I like the way you play this, and the tone is amazing.

  • @laserdudeman

    Thanks a lot ;-)

    V.

  • Wow, nice work on this Carcassi piece. I am about half way through learning it and it was helpful to see your performance.

  • @GerryD007

Have fun with this piece, nice one to play ;-)

    Val

  • Wow you're great!

I haven't heard anyone play this piece quite this well

  • @hergocin52

Thank you, check on YT the version by Gabriel Schebor (I think quite faster than mine)

    Video : lZ_0hVw4UGM

    Val

  • I am considering playing this for a audition, but should I play it faster? I've heard different performances of it and I'm just curious.

  • @ToonLinkTink

Some people play it faster, so the same notes are played like an arpeggio. With nails it is easyer to play faster than without...

    V.

  • fantastic :) im 13, been playing classical for 6 months, and started learning this a month ago. its EXTREMELY fun and it feels empowering once you can play it up to this speed. your performance is by far the best i've seen! its so smooth, beautifully passing each note to the next as a feather flows through the wind. although you'reby far superior to me in skill, i might suggest that you play with a little more dynamics, as it is mostly in f and mf. you're close to perfection! :D

  • Damn, I love this, I'm the 5th grade in elementary music school (I'm 15 btw) and I must say this is my favourite composition and Etude I have ever played , and you did a great job playing it .. I hope that I'll manage to play this fast eventually .

  • @oceanmermaid07

This is a nice one to work on... And you can play it faster than I do... (I'm playing without nails and you can play faster with...)

    V.

  • @checkoutmymusic420

Thank you very much, and enjoy playing ;-)

    All the best

    Valéry

  • Inspiring... Breathtaking..... A masterpiece by Carcassi, and apparently you too!

You play it with the utmost care. I am proud to be watching your records, and may you please think of me as a big fan now! I am also working on this piece. And by the way your guitar is outstanding... May i know for how much you bought it?

  • @shnivler

    Thanks a lot ;-)

About the guitar, look the info box, there is a link to the expert restorer were I bought it. Price is very different according to the maker, and many other points, expensive, yes, as historical instrument, but not more than a modern concert guitar by a luthier.

    Good luck !

    Val

  • Very nice. I am playing it too, but the last part it's very difficult. But I succeed. Helas not as wel as you, but I am working on it. Thank you for playing.

  • Nice piece. I know it should be played a little bit faster but tremolo without nails is more difficult.

    All the best

  • Very beautiful!

  • Thank you ;-)

    Val

  • Thank you for bringing a little peace into this world, Paul

  • A little bit, helas not enough for this crazy world...

    Thanks

    Val

  • Hello Claudio !

The guitar is an early romantic one, the expert said it was built in 1800, more or less 5 years, according to the shape, size, head end some construction details. See his web site (link in the info box on the right)

Inside of the guitar there is an iron mark saying Rémy in Limoges (but is it the maker or the dealer)... Anyway nice sounding one ;-)

    Thanks,

    Val

    Val

  • Extremely beautiful, very nicely played. I really like listening to your music. I wish I could play this as well. I have to start working on this piece. Keep on posting the good music.

    Splendid job.

    Vasu

  • Thanks a lot, this one could be played a little bit faster... I'll try again later, but tremolo is difficult without nails.

    Val

  • Very nice...i appreciate very much, thank you!

  • Thanks a lot !

    Val

  • Hi Val I'm italian and I'm a your fan :-D I start at 10 but I'm 13 now... It's useless to say that you're a god compared to me.

    Bye

    El Valsidor

  • Hope you'll have a lot of fun playing guitar !

    All the best

    Val

  • Beautiful... Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much.

  • Thanks a lot ;-)

    Val

  • Nice, i would really need your teachings! jeje

Isn't your thumb too inside of your hand? Im just trying to learn, dont take it as an offense =D

  • My technic is not a classical guitar technic, as I'm first a lutenist. I play guitar with lute technic, so don't take example on me...

    not offended at all ;-)

    Regards

    val

  • I really apreciate you are helping me, thanks.

  • Since what age did you start playing?

  • I start at 11 (long long time ago...)

    V. ;-)

  • Thanks, autodidactly?

    :D

  • No I had teachers and got to conservatory.

    V.

  • wow, nice song to learn :D

  • Yes good study for tremolo...

    Val

  • My first song on guitar.

    Such a lovely piece!

  • Yes, a nice one...

    Thanks

    Regards

    Val

  • well played!

  • Thanks !

    V. ;-)

  • well played but, isn't this etude 9?

  • No for me it is n°7, opus 60, 25 study from the Carcassi's method book. (perhaps plyed a little bit too slow... )

    Thanks,

    Val

  • It definitely is #7.

You can have a look at my interpretation, if you want to ;)

  • wonderful tone!!!!!

    very warm.

  • Thanks, this guitar is so nice to play, and the low tension strings (Aquila Nylgut) are good to play with no nails.

    Regards,

    Val

  • I started this piece today, just a few hours ago.

And you played it very well.

Do you know Höfner-guitars? Are they any good? Because I'm thinking of buying one, not one of the expensive ones, though.

    Cheers

    Johannes

  • I had an Höfner in the past, a Vienna model in maple, I love it... I wonder if I can find an used one some day.

    Val

  • Lovely tune!

  • Thanks ;-)

    V.

  • Very nice!

    Saludos desde Uruguay!

  • Thanks ;-)

    Salut de France ;-)

    Best whishes

    Val

  • Wow, how do modern made guitars stand up to that one acousticly? What does this Sor have that you can't get? I imagine the old growth wood, + age makes it acousticly superior, but by how much? You obviously know a local guitar shop owner?

  • Look at my channel for the link to the restaurer of this guitar... Expensive ? no, according to the instrument quality... (not a chinese factory guitar.. of course)but less than some modern luthier guitars.

Playing an historical guitar is an emotion that have no price...

    Thanks for listening.

    Best regards,

    Val

  • Lindo!

  • Very good, and thank you for posting it.

  • Thanks Tim ;-)

    V.

  • very nice!! I wonder If these were what Carcassi, Sor, Aguado, etc. performed on. I play classical guitar to but on a Manuel Rodriguez model e :( Wished I could afford one of those!

  • I think Sor played Lacote guitars and Aguado is seen on a picture with a Laprevote one. Perhaps some Carulli's student could have play this one ? who knows... ;-)

    V.

  • what type of guitar is that?? it looks like a Sor day replica?? nice!!!

  • well, it is not a replica, it is an original one from 1800.

    V.

    ;-)

  • Yeh very famous. But not overplayed. Still liked it. At least you didn't rush through it; loved it!

    Best,

    jo

  • Well I find it a litle bit slow, and will try to play it faster, but no rush of course... (without nails it is difficult to play tremolo...)

    V.

    PasStelleM

  • Merci beaucoup ;-)

    Cordialement

    Valéry

  • I have a crumbling old copy of Carcassi somewhere, and after this, I'll take a look at it with new eyes.

  • There are interesting music by Carcassi. everyone knows the study (this one and the n°3) but many other easy (and not so) pieces...

    Best

    Val

  • I think I used to play this a long time ago. It's a neat sounding tune and you played it very well, indeed.

  • I used to play this one too long time ago... nice to remember good old time when trying to put the fingers on the guitar... ;-)

    Val

  • 5 stars

  • ;-)

    Thanks

    Val

  • That guitar has a great tone, what strings are you using Val?

    Phil

  • Now basses are savarez white card and treble Aquila Nylgut (emulating gut strings) but I'll try soon original strings : gut and silk covered by silver (by Aquila).

    Val ;-)

  • Wow that takes me back. I think I played that for an early exam in classical guitar!

  • Hi Danny,

I'm just exploring all my "old" favorites on the guitar, easy stuff but fun to play it after so many years ;-) I'll try harder pieces after (if I can...)

    Val
