  • why do i love this guitar? it sounds unreal...man, that is nice..

  • This guitar has no reference to Smashing Pumpkins' Starla?

  • marty mcfly

  • This is a great sounding guitar.

  • THAT GUITAR IS THE BABY OF A LES PAUL AND A SG!

  • Nice guitar and a very good review. But you look like you need to get some sleep...

  • that sounds just like my SG.

  • i thought he was gonna say 24 and a half frets lol

  • the sound its good, the starla it's horrible

  • the guitar harmonics speak words to me

  • Great Guitar

  • Is it me or did the cleans sound a bit bland?

  • I'll probably get slapped, but I'm getting a real Back to the Future vibe off this vid. Nice axe however. ;)

  • good review, and good guitar. But i'm not impressed to pay about $1700 USD

  • The pickups seem kind of muddy, If i was to pick one of these up, i would probably look into changing into some different pickups

  • @SGTSHOOTnMISS If u find these muddy u must be a Fender guy

  • @bol316 actually no, im a proud Ibanez owner (with humbuckers)

It may be the amp, but it just doesnt seem to have the clarity of some of the other guitars.

  • its disgusting.

  • Why does this guy make every guitar and amp sound exactly the same? Or is it post-production?

  • omg this guitar is amazing and my fav, AND, my amazing girlfriends name is Starla so, this is soooo legit....

  • Doesn't the Starla have a split-coil push/pull tone knob?

  • @FlorianWZ you can install that on any guitar. Perhaps the one you saw was equipped with them...

  • the ultimate prs guitar!!!

  • I just got this guitar and it is AMAZING I love it and highly recommend it to any players of any genre

  • @rygyrocks16 Hi there. Just saw your post while checking on this guitar...i'm about to buy a mint condition Starla Vintage Mahogany for a good price....so every review counts and since you already have one Starla for about 5 month...do you still recommend it ? Does it have coil tapping feature ? Thanks in advance.

  • @sixstringstorock I've owned mine since November and still LOVE IT. I do still recommend it. There is no coil tapping though (dunno if thats too important), but yeah i'm to this day a PRS fanatic and don't think you could go wrong with any of his guitars!

  • @rygyrocks16 That confirms what i've been told before. I'm buying it lawaway thanks to this so kind seller. It's a Vintage Mahogany with the original case included...it was never sold in stores, it has the original papers and everything and it was only used for PRS Reps, you know when they travel to different stores for showing off their newest guitars...kind of a "new old stock". I got a good price ($1200.00 with taxes included) so i couldn't say no. Thanks a lot.

  • nice~ a les paul with a sg'ish pickguard

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum....this thing is expenseev :O... i think i'll stick with ma G&L rampage

  • were can i get a blue one witch was guitarist calender 2010 march

  • I'm just not impressed at all.

  • Looks like an Ovation Viper. But we all know that PRS doesn't steal other companies designs...lol

  • what's with that hair anyway

  • what is the amp that you're using ?? is there any pedal, is it a tube amps or transistor amp ?? thanks GW

  • it's always a shitty tone with paul

  • It sounds like the perfect combination between a strat and a lp. Seriously considering this guitar.

  • no no damn it they called it the starla because the starla is the first pick ups PRS built god dang

  • Sounds so Vintage..Looks like an Original Vintage Axe too! Good Axe tho..

  • I love the tone that you get from a PRS!!!!!!!!!! I played one of these at guitar center, and it was great!

  • Hope I find a Job soon. I was thinking of buying one of these in Black but Lost the job. Hey! thangs happen right?

  • I'd play that.

  • Should be called the PRS Les-G.

For those of you that don't get it... What the fuck are you doing watching this video?

  • if prs can make a guitar with a bigsby that doesnt go out of tune

    why can't gretsch?

my 6118 annie drives me nuts

    nice demo

    love the starla

  • It sounds like every sound sample was took with the tone pot set on 5

  • are those tuners locking?

  • Not on this one

  • really good sounding guitar, nice fat, rich sound

  • excellent demo!

I especially liked the clean sounds

  • He forgot the coil tap feature!

  • @MrGuitarboy100 there is no coil tap

  • @gnrrocks123 To my knowledge there is. This is the Main Starla Model which offers the coil tap function. The Starla Stoptail also offers this. The Starla X is the only Model in that range which doesn't offer a coil tap function.

  • Anyone saying this is ugly NEEDS to see it in the dark color.

  • im not a fan of the looks but when i played this guitar at guitar center..... wow..... amazing guitar

  • i wish the bigsby was closer it looks like you gotta reach for it abit

  • I dont like the vibrato bar....

  • You're right, but it's just that classic Bigsby design.

  • yes excelent guitar..... and sound. Lucas from Argentina

  • AWESOME sounding guitar - perfect guitar / amp pairing in this demo. What amp is this? Sounds like a Mesa of some sort. Does anyone know what amp he's using?

  • perfect overdrive ^

  • This really doesn't do justice to a PRS. If you're gonna demo something of this quality, then I think you should definitely have some playing to match. Otherwise, you won't get the really capacity of the instrument

  • I wonder if Paul (from guitar world) forgot that these pickups can go single coil to by Pulling the tone knob. He didnt demonstrate it

  • That's a beautiful piece of machinery! It would make a nice sister to my Gibson SG Standard! Are you reading this baby?! Heh...

  • can somebody explain to me why this guitar, with a vibrato, doesn't come with locking tuners, but the Mira, with a stop tailpiece, does have them? It just makes no sense to me...

  • @slysendice It could be that the Vibrato is so subtle that the string is pretty much under a constant tension, and therefore there is constant tension on the tuners.

  • @slysendice its because they wanted to have the vintage retro look i guess

  • @slysendice It is because of the vintage feel they're going for with this model. I have the same tuners on my 245 and they are super nice.

  • @slysendice Either word that suits You. retro or Vintage. They stay in tune well. PRS makes works of Art. Not just an Axe.

  • @slysendice

I have built, modified, electrics for over 30 years...though locking tuners almost always help tuning stability, they help the most when you have a trem that has a large range of pitch change.......the Bigsby is a very gentle , small pitch change tremolo......totally the opposite of say, a Floyd Rose.......so the locking tuners are not

needed as much......the second consideration is that they are trying for a vintage vibe with this guitar, and locking tuners aren't vintage

  • @slysendice there are many things that PRS does that make no sense...

  • @slysendice Locking tuners usually only go with locking tremolo designs. (Or hardtails as you have rightly pointed out).

  • @slysendice I Agree.. it looks cool with vintage tuners, so they say BUT I Think it should have Lockers.... I'd buy one if they did!

  • @slysendice locked tuning blows

  • @slysendice I don't know about the mira but this guitar doesn't have a locking nut because it has no fine tuners, say you hit a whammy dive and you didn't stretch your strings a little before hand now you have to unlock the whole thing and then relock it to retune it. I wish there was more I could add about the whammy bar but I'm not a huge fan of that type so I don't know much about there tendencies.

  • @slysendice idk and my prs has a trem and doesnt have locking tuners either

  • @slysendice because only a complete moron would try to divebomb on a guitar like this

  • @slysendice it has vintage tuning pegs because they were going more for "vibe" than functionality. i have had many older customers ask the very question you just did... i use locking tuners on any of my guitars that don't have a full 25.5 scale length, regardless of whether or not they have a trem or vibrato. that said, a properly set up bigsby on any scale length can be made to remain rather stable under some vigorous yanking.

  • @slysendice i know its a cliche but i think its because no manufacturer is perfect and they all fuck up at some of their products.

  • @slysendice I don't understand the question? If your strings slip knot them to the tuner. PROBLEM SOLVED.

  • i wish this guitar had the les paul four knob system, but other then that, it sounds pretty good!

  • At 2:50 the sound reminds me of Achilles Last Stand.

  • This guitar doesnt seem to come through with gain. :/

  • @mains711 He mentions overdrive not distortion and nowhere does he say metal distortion. You're in a box and you don't realize it. There is more music out there. The overdrive hear sounds beautiful. Clean with just enough dirt. Well defined notes instead of mush that distortion can often be.

  • @mains711 just change the pickups with an X2N.. lols. although it might ruin some qualities that this guitar was intended for..

  • william, I hope you are trolling ...

  • i always wonder why comments of guitar gear always finish on arguments who's the better metal head or if esp is better from ibanez.... cool PRS

  • how does he play like that im trying to spread rock and roll love but i cant because i cant figure how to play like he does like that riff at 2:13

  • @frankixbox What you mean using chords? There's nothing special about the way he's playing. Go take lessons if you have to or use your eyes and ears. Practice makes perfect.

+1 on the unrelated guitar comments. This is a PRS why make comparisons with Ibanez and ESP?

Incidentally, there's is more to music than metal. Really go listen to some other music sometime.

  • im talking about how he switches the chords and plucks single notes from the chords then how does he make the notes sound so good together at about 2:29 its like each note was hand picked wtf this is frustating do most people get lessons

  • @frankixbox most people who are proficient guitarists get lessons. YES! It's unavoidable. You can stumble over your mistakes or your can avoid them by learning from someone who's already been there.

There is nothing in this video that is all that difficult. A little practice is all that it takes.

  • its like he wants a conversation hows it going it your buddy paul from the bar who drank a lot

  • As much as this guitar kicks ass and looks really cool, I prefer a longer and bigger neck, I don't know why thats just me. 5/5.

  • I almost bought one of these afew monthes ago. but Bought a McCarty Korina soapbar instead. Both Sweet Axes! cant go wrong with a PRS.

  • No sick = afflicted with illness

  • he's not really doing a review he's just showing you how it sounds and the features on the guitars and amps etc.

  • has this guy ever gave a bad review on anything?

  • @spawnsc haha it's the trick with getting free gear to review, you gotta like them all!

  • @spawnsc Have you ever seen a magazine that advertises things that you shouldn't buy? :)

  • guess he only reviews good things?

  • i like the pickboard and th esound is amazing^^

  • Yes! He didn't shred!

  • every guitar and amp sounds the same in these vids

  • @guitarshredda2 Which holds true to my theory that 10% is the amp, 10% the guitar, and 80% the player.

  • true that

  • lol

  • sounds like kenny wayne shepard when playing overdrive

  • It's not that good looking but it sounds really nice with the overdrive!

  • thats exactly what i was gonna say.

  • could stand to have Retrotron style pickup covers, mostly for appearance's sake.

  • I don't like guitar like that... The whole thing is just ugly. :/

Don't like the vibrato and bridge system~

  • But floyd roses are just gay

  • Yes, yes they are

  • you must be an ibanez metal player.

if you are. please stop talking now.

  • You must be a close minded asshole who thinks your style of music and guitar are Best,,You FAIL Asshole

  • Actually... I play a PRS Custom SE 24...

  • then tell me why do you find this guitar ugly? It\s beautiful if you ask me..

  • So Y u shit talking Ibanez?? Thats what got me mad,,ever heard Steve Vai,,Joe Satriani?? What do u have against metal??

  • its too complicated..

  • @OMERTA011 I own a strat too, but I play metal. Theres nothing wrong with metal or Ibanez. I prefer ESP.

  • thank you someone agrees with me

ESP is good for metal but as well as anything you want

  • ESP is good for pretty much anything. sure their famous for metal axes, but take a look at the Ron Wood custom or the vintage plus series, and its point proven.

  • @EnveBeats dont forget Mick Thompson

  • I do hip hop, and rnb mostly. which I can see is your music of choice also. but I play jazz/funk in a band. have two stratocasters, and about to buy a heritage h535.

and that heritage has an awful headstock. so.. now it's your turn..

    peace

  • The shit you care about is at 1:28 .

  • I made this!

    For Guitar Hero, that is...

  • First on a clean channel i thougt 'this sounds quite nice'

Than he turns to overdrive and I thougt WOW!!! This guitar sounds amazing! I deffinetly am gonna try this one out.

    Nice playing! ;)

  • Awsome guitar and review! Thanks!

  • Holy crap, that thing sounds great.

  • ugly as fuck

  • I love the look and tone BUT shorter than a gibson!?! Why haha, if it was longer scale like a gibson id be set

  • its only shorter by 1/4" and old gibsons from the 50's ranged from 24 1/2" like this one up to 25", so I'm sure it would play just fine

  • Oh didnt know that. Never played a 50's gibson. I want to tho....

  • @cs2sasuke741

    No they're birds.

  • amazing simply amazing

CAN I HAVE IT I TREAT VERY VERY NICE LOL that would be a dream come true lol

  • barbed wire background? :)

"This is Paul live in prison" ;)

  • Damn you Paul, every time I watch you play, I feel I know shit... :P

  • he is reaaalllly good. but cant use that vibrato...

  • great sounding and great looking guitar. prs is where its at. i own an se custom. lol;)

i wish i knew some of his frickin riffs. lol.

  • he can't use any music written by anybody else.

  • @4rc4dius

How so? I think he used the Bigsby quite well for what it is.

  • Holy God, that thing is fucking SHINY.

    Sounds nice too.

  • very nice job Paul

  • PRS take on a SG....

    cool though...

  • the guitar is a beatuy :)

  • it is... it's a real nice vintage-y piece :)

  • fuck ya'll

  • cool...

  • Fuck you

  • sick
