We already have local law enforcement, the Sheriff's department, state police, DEA and ICE going after illegal immigrants, it's nothing new. If I carry my driver's license, social security card and voter registration card then why can't a legal immigrant carry their respective ID to be here? In fact, they probably do, it's common sense. SB 1070, however, requires law enforcement agencies to target, search and arrest anyone deemed under "reasonable suspicion" of being an undocumented entrant to the United States (read: not white). Also, the U.S. government w/ its trade policies and drug policies is responsible for making things much worse in MX. Polls can be very misleading. We would need to agree on a reputable source first before comparing statistics. That said, assuming the validity of your data, the United States has a long history of outrage against an inherent good. I refer you to the 1964 Civil Rights Amendment, which was thoroughly despised in the southern states; or Women's Suffrage before that. The challengers to SB 1070 may be on the losing side of this particular issue, but they're on the right side of history.

When my in-laws arrived in the US, they had to wait in line behind millions of others to apply for citizenship. They neither asked for nor received government assistance, but found jobs and went straight to work. They were required to learn English, American history, the Constitution, US laws, supply proof of birth and country of origin and jump through all the hoops. They did not cross our borders illegally and demand the same rights as legal citizens.

We already have local law enforcement, the Sheriff's department, state police, DEA and ICE going after illegal immigrants, it's nothing new. If I carry my driver's license, social security card and voter registration card then why can't a legal immigrant carry their respective ID to be here? In fact, they probably do, it's common sense. It's not the state's fault that the illegal immigrants are mostly from Mexico or Hispanic. It also cracks down on employers who hire illegals.

Yes, the Constitution specifically protects citizens. SB 1070, however, requires law enforcement agencies to target, search and arrest anyone deemed under "reasonable suspicion" of being an undocumented entrant to the United States (read: not white). This is racial profiling, plain an simple. Those CITIZENS who are erroneously targeted as potential non-citizens will be directly affected by this new legislation. Their 14th Amendment due process rights are now meaningless in Arizona.

Since the Sept 11 attacks, agents have stopped hundreds of nationals from countries considered a national security threat, including Syria, North Korea and Iran. The Border Patrol reports that one in every 10 illegals crossing the Mexican border are from the Middle East. One would think that everyone in the US would be concerned about national security. It requires authorities to enforce laws against such employers. It even says that employers who claim entrapment (by undercover sting operations) have to admit they were trying to break the law.
