The same PAD that called the use of tear gas as police brutality supported the use of M16's and armored vehicles when the army did the same to their political opponents.

Tear gas isn't 'brutality'. Tear gas isn't 'bullets' that 'shoot people in the back'. Many news reports said the massive injuries were caused by 'ping pong bombs' that the protesters used. There were plenty attempts at negotiation. The PAD protesters could have used negotiations instead of protesting - its a fair argument.

Thaksin initiated a divide and conquer strategy for his political gain, as he has done many times in his business strategies and life in general. Here we have a simple good vs evil fight. Simple Black and White or in Thailand's case Red and Yellow. To me it is clear that the Yellow core aim is "Transparent Govt." Red is all about getting Thaksin back by what ever means. Chief of police is obviously red.
