It is not against the law to take pictures of children nude. Yes, that means a 14 year old girl can be photographed nude - by a professional photographer - as LONG as it is not sexually oriented. Nudist colonies in every state in the US do this every day. I also know that Walgreens have a card they put over a film processing unit to hide pictures of nude kids when they are processed. Wal-Mart is just stupid and should lose this case and have to pay.

It is not against the law to take pictures of children nude. Yes, that means a 14 year old girl can be photographed nude - by a professional photographer - as LONG as it is not sexually oriented. Nudist colonies in every state in the US do this every day. I also know that Walgreens have a card they put over a film processing unit to hide pictures of nude kids when they are processed. Wal-Mart is just stupid and should lose this case and have to pay.

I could see if they were taking picture exclusively of their privates, but they weren't. Hell, I know a bath picture of me exists, and I couldn't care less, it was totally innocent. I feel the act of parents taking pictures of their young children taking a bath is completely innocuous.
However, it almost seems like most parents feel it's a natural part of raising children to subject them to bath time pictures. It has become very cliche and there is honestly no good reason to do it.
Although I agree that there was a gross over reaction on the part of both the Walmart employee and the authorities to take the children from their parents.

I can understand the authorities looking into the situation, but removing the children is ridiculous. I think the parents would have a good case against both Wal-Mart and the state.

I think its a good idea for places like these to report instances where they suspect that child porno was being made. With this said however the AUTHORITIES should be intelligent enough to know when to prosecute. Even if they don't prosecute after a quick research/verification they would still have a little detail on the persons that were suspected in the event they were wrong initially. They should ALSO investigate the "snitches"..lol...since they themselves could also be guilt as well.

My friend's uncle had his kids taken away when they brought one of the kids who was about 1 into a emergency room.
There were apparent bruising on the child.
After court and all legal fees, they realized (after they were told so many times before by the parent) that the bruising was from a surgery the kid had gone through.
Got them back, but was not reimbursed at all. Just a "Sorry, we messed up."

I disagree with cenk on his first point. I think its a rule that if a developer see some shady stuff going on they have to report it. The person that developed the stuff most of the time doesn't know who's taken these photos so its better safe than sorry. He didn't necessarily "snope" at the pictures.Especially when you develop digital photos because the images appear on the screen, you can't help but to look. Cenk was wrong to assume that the person snoped.
