Beautiful music, but why this insistence on wearing black ? I'm not getting at them but at the convention in classical music . Wouldn't it be nice to have some colour to look at to go with the sunniness of the music?

Haydn, Bruckner, Stravinsky and Messiaen are the never-boring composers.

The problem is that Haydn wrote many works not intended to be interpreted before the public, but simply to be played, for example his baryton trios. Much of Haydn music has never succeeded in the concert-hall or on the stage simply because it is simply domestic music.

Haydn is a composer I have not heard enough of. I'm recording one of his sonatas soon, so I should know much of his output, but in reality, I've heard so little.
