When counting spins always remember that while spinning, he is performing a backflip as well. So try to recognize the positions you'd see in a normal backflip (then a spin is completed).

Therefore: the first spin is completed when he faces upwards (1/4 of a normal backflip), the second spin is completed when he is upside down and faces towards the camera (1/2 of a backflip), the third spin when he is horizontal and faced down (3/4 of a backflip) and the 4th spin is completely on the landing.

guys, its 4 spins, the flip adds the illusion of an extra twist. think about a single twist, you see a persons chest or back, 2 times, 3 for double, 4 for triple, 5 for quad. I promise its going to be okay people :)

There is the same misunderstanding on a lot of twisting videos. Often, if the number of twists is very high, the flip will become a little less inverted, so people count the flip as an extra twist without knowing it. There are 4 twists, and 1 flip - when he falls back into the landing position it looks like he's twisting back into it because it's so off-axis. You have to remember that if you just count 5 rotations one of them will be the flip.
