I'll admit that the Spanish Monarchs were certainly not friends of the Republic, and supported the Nationalists in the hopes of regaining their power. They didn't, kind of, and France ruled Spain as a dictator until he died, and Juan Carlos restored both the Monarchy and Democracy to Spain in a Constitutional Monarchy. The key word is Constitutional- Yes, they have a King, but he doesn't really have much power. There is still Democracy going on.
