  • he rocks the lil foot-hand thing at 1:33. this video is amazing.

  • Acoustic cover -- infullfeather.bandcamp.com/track/cosmonaut

  • the three people that gave this a thumbs down are probably justin beiber fans.

  • Back when MTV2 played ACTUAL music from GOOD musicians.

Now there is nothing but Real World v Road Fool Challenges 23.5 hours a day and stupid hip hop / pop artists for 30 minutes at 5 in the morning......

    F U NEW MTV2

  • Probably one of the few bands i'd pay more than $200 too see live.

  • 1:54

    deley

  • Mtv put a good band on there oh shit thats kind of rare honestly most of it just that pop and rap shit

  • implying that MTV still plays music

  • @stripesthebird i hear ya, its bollox huh.

  • ololol MTV

  • favorites for sure

  • The dialogue in the beginning is from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. They would play it before "Cosmonaut" during their live shows. It says, "Well, it's exactly like being asleep. You have absolutely no sense of time."

They also played another clip before performing "Arcarsenal" in their lives shows. That dialogue says, "Our preliminary findings indicate that your on-board Niner-Triple-Zero computer is in error predicting the fault."

  • @SKEvil they must have been big fans of that movie because I saw another video where Cedric said something to the moshers in the crowd like "You guys are like the ape in the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey" or something like that.

  • What is the dialogue at the beginning from?

  • any more from this show?

  • Huh? When did MTV actually start playing good music???

Anyways, Fucking love this song and ATDI.

  • I made this video, I swear ! => recording and encoding

I recognize it because the lag at 1:55 (no, it's not your connection or youtube, it's because my poor computer of in the past).

I'm very proud of it and I want my royalties ! ;-P

ATDI was a really good band, with a big style ! and I was a big fan !

    Thx ;-)

  • great great!

  • their awsome live to, most bands die live

  • I'm so glad i got to see'em live! Leeds, Dec. 2000 at the Cockpit n' i didn't have a ticket... So i went at the back of the club hoping to find a way to get in. And there was Cedric, waiting for their show to start after the Murder City Devils'. I didn't even have to talk to him first! We started talking, and when it was time to go onstage, he told me to get right in with him! Watched the whole show from the side of the stage! :) One of the coolest people around, and he KICKS ASS onstage!

  • Wow, awesome story. Wish i could meet Cedric he is my hero...

  • Thats probably the coolest story Ive ever heard.

  • London Astoria

    Friday 2nd February 2001

  • It was filmed on Feb. 2nd at the London Astoria for some awards, according to the video. Probably in 2000 or 2001.

  • Any info on when and were this was filmed?

  • can get any heavier and raw than this

  • does anyone know which brand of microphone cables Cedric uses (used).... cos they ust be the best to not break/distort/etc with the amount of tricks he does with it !!! :D

  • cedric = total awesomeness

  • god, i wish so bad i could have seen them live b4 they broke up, that show looked amazing. that pit looked like so much fun..

  • 1:25 patton has one of those dosnt he?

  • thanks ...

    95/23526

  • Musical differences. Omar and Cedric wanted more than what they were doing and they others like what they were doing. In the end though I think it would be time to move on, I mean they were around from like 93 to 01, that's along time to write together.

  • This is music from the inside, pure adrenaline and energy, these guys buzz off air. It's brilliant.

  • is it havier then air?

  • holy shit when was this on MTV i wish there was good music on tv all the time unstead of crap

  • 1.35 is amaazing

  • cedric = total awesomeness :D

  • innerself, did you see it?! they're fuckin' amazing!!

  • Angels and Airwaves fans think tom delonge has the best dance moves on stage.....they have no idea

  • fuck ya man cedric is fucking amazing.

  • the guy from finch is a badass dancer

  • cant be played loud enough.

  • soo good.

  • This song (and album) SLAYS!!

  • mtu bommm!!

  • cedric is my hero

  • IT IS heavier than aIR !!!! for real ^^

  • I ♥ atdi

  • 1.35-36 = best stage move in history

  • LMAO LMAO LMAOOOOoo!!!!!! NOW WHY DIDNT I SEE THAT??? HAHAHAHAHA CEDRIC REALLY IS ON IT!!!

  • Haha! It's some kind of Russian dance or something?

  • man, this kicks all sorts of ass

    hell yeah

  • BOUM !

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! nice quality!!!!!

  • Thats performance and sound quality blew me away the first time I saw it six years ago!!! I wish I could get the audio in MP3 format!!!!

  • search:

    vDownloader

    and ejnoy ;D

  • ??????

  • iiiiiisssssssssss itttt heeaaaviiiieeerr thhaannn aiirrrrrrrrr!!!!!

  • way better than average sound and vision on one of atdi's best tracks.

  • mind explosion at 1.05 to 1.07

  • Simply to far ahead of their time.....

  • what is the relationship between the lyrics and the film 2001. Just me that notict that?

  • yeah ive always wondered this as well. you know.. hal 9000 being the "black box"

  • did you also notice the audio clip before the song? "its just like being asleep, you have no sense of time, but you don't dream" --its from 2001 in dave bowman's interview for a news show.

  • Dead audience!

  • truly, an amazing live performance of this song.

other times they go a tad too fast and cedric can't keep up but here he's dead on.

i'd love to be at that show

  • IS IT HEAVIER THEN AIR????

  • insane. i love at the drive-in. how depressing is it that they broke up? except for the fact that the mars volta are one of the best bands evver. this is one of my favorite songs.

  • agree with every fuckin thing you just said.

  • one of the greatest band that ever exist in this world..

  • bitch

  • i spose drugs want means a lot to them...

    ;°)

  • it is just me or his voice sounds 'affected'

  • he is singing into a delay pedal on the bridge and twiddling the time and feedback knob on the bridge, but thats all I think

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • i dont think so.. i think its better than the channel V performance! i would give anything to turn back time to even see one show of them.. great!!

  • excellent performance but not as good as 198d on channel V

  • I agree with you completely. I don't understand why he seems to do it all the time. Cedric does it in the Mars Volta to. Its pretty annoying. Other than that they are amazing. And i don't know why people gave your comment the thumbs down so much.

  • Haha, thanks bro. At the drive in is one of my favorites, been listening to them for a good 7 or 8 years, but im glad i never saw em live, or i would have been pretty damn disappointed. I wanna hear the music, now watch him convulse on stage Luckily when i saw the mars volta a couple years back they were great and i had no complaints.

  • his "convulsions" on stage are what make them different. Every other band plays a show, atdi put on a show. If you don't get into your music then why bother playing it

  • If i have to trade him actually singing all the lyrics so i can hear the song for watching him have a seizure, im gonna take the lyrics.

Put on a show, but came for the music.

  • so you'd rather he sang all of the psychobabble lyrics rather than did whatever he wanted to do?! newsflash guys, a no compromise band like this will do whatever the hell they want with their songs, and that is exactly why they are great. People express themselves in different ways, and I'm shocked that you would criticize a singer for rocking the only way he knows.

    How dare you?!

and did you notice that Jim used the the hyper fuzz where he used the meatlover distortophone on the record...

  • Yes.

I would rather him sing the lyrics. Thats what ive been trying to say.

  • you want that instead of seeing the actual performer doing what he feels. what makes your opinion of what makes the song better more relevant than his. The problem here is that you can't seperate the 'music' from the 'performance' - you can't have the passion and expression in the music if the band are shitting themselves about playing everything exactly like it was on the album. That is totally not what they are about...

  • Im sorry, but im not some poser who listens to bands for what they are about because i need a band to fit an image, i listen to music for music, not because i think its cool that he flails around on stage. I pray you guys dont go to clubs and try dancing like that, and im sorry my opinions are completely wrong and yours are completely fact, but im gonna stick with what i said originally.

  • amen to that, lol...i totally agree with audiogarden1

  • thumbs up buddy.

  • yeah it'd be cool if I could find the studio version on here.

  • agreed, he goes a bit too hard sometimes. but thats part of why he sounds the way he does sometimes too.

  • I'm glad artists don't make art for your sake, otherwise we'd be surrounded by fucking boring bullshit. Familiar with Iggy Pop? Music is more then noise when you're performing.

  • Listen fanboy, i listen to music, i dont watch it. I like the way the music sounds, thats why i got into the band, so when i see them perform, i expect to hear the good sounding music i am familiar with and came to like them for. And i like iggy by the way

  • I mentioned Iggy for the fact that he revolutionized live performances. I'm not a fanboy. Music is much more than notes, especially with a 'punk' band. You being disappointed if you had saw them = you don't appreciate it for what it is. They were amazing live, I've never been so hypnotized in my life.

It's funny, I used to really love TMV until francis the mute came out, and I saw them live. Suddenly, no more shouting about politics, no more dancing... they're just cashing out on their talent.

  • I saw TMV in Chicago right after Frances the Mute came out as well, and they actually moved around and danced quite a bit still. At least when i saw them. But they put on a show and still played the song brilliantly just as i would have expected, again, im not in it just for the political messages or the shit they do on stage though anyway.

  • saw them in january 08, cedric jumped behind the bar and started throwing ice and redbull at the audience and screwing with the bar lights. small venues ftw eh?

  • you must be lying because according to everyone here besides you and i, cedric doesnt move or pack a good performance now that he's in TMV. and yeah, small venues rock the shit.

  • it was pretty funny because he was putting the bar lights over his ears like they were headphones.

  • TELL US IS THE BLACK BOX LYING

  • Great performance. They go crazy BUT play it in an excellent manner at the same time, something which is sometimes wrong in their other performances.

  • i wish i couldve been "around" (well, older) to have seen these guys. i love TMV but this band is something entirely different and equally awesome

  • This is such a great video, classic performance

  • One of the best ATDI preformances i've seen.

  • an idol that pelted out such noise would be worthy of worship...

  • great performance and video! one of the best songs on relationship.
