The only thing good about the Go was the screen. It's perfect, if a bit small. Slap the same LCD, only bigger, and I'll get it asap.

The 3000 has a pretty bad screen, if only because of the DAMN artifacting. It is VERY noticable, mostly on any 2D games. 3-D games are pretty ok, but games like Yggdra Union and Half-Minute Hero make it way too easy to see.

GuitardedIndividual, the scanlines are CONSTANT and very noticable, and are a problem on every 3000. On most 2000's, there is no visible ghosting, and even when there is ghosting it is only for like a few seconds at a time, not CONSTANT. 2000 is better than 3000. 4000 will probably be better than 2000 and 3000.

I haven't seen or used the PSP 3000 to know how bad the interlacing really is, but I find it hard to believe it's as bad as it is made out to be online. I'd be willing to put up with a little artifacting for the improved response time and screen brightness/clarity. I'll have to check one out for myself where I work, but I'm not getting my hopes up- I think the Ipod Touch has spoiled me as far as portable displays go...

It makes me laugh all this talk about scan lines, people are paying 5 times the price of a PSP for LCD tv which are well crap when watching anything at all. The PSP must be the most feature packed gadget on the market for its price. It`s not like they cost £300 or anything. LCD technology has been improving faster than any other display technology and with increasing viewing angles, contrast ratios (30,000:1 and up), response times (2ms or lower) and lower production costs there is no reason not to use LCD versus other display types. Don't form an opinion on LCDs because of the crap they use in PSP and DS. And yes, I have and LCD TV, psp, and DS.

the update is a software update.... changing into interlaced, larger colour gamut, and better contrast ratio, microphone input.... are all hardware update. keep your 2000. they havent found a way to hack the 3000 yet. if they come out with 4000 hopefully theyll change the interlacing scanning line effect.

since most games are programmed in 60 frames per second.

but the screen only generates 60 fields per second.

and only a few games are 30 fps would appear jaggy free on that lcd screen.

The 3000...i got mine a few weeks ago and it's doing fine...the scanlines isn't that obvious...plus it has a mic and you can use SKYPE to call cellphone or landlines via Wi-Fi at low rates.. grafix more vivid and much more clearer(for pic)...
