Just making sure ALL of you know. Left 4 Dead 2 is NOT a mistake. This may be because it was my first L4D but I don't really care. L4D2 was surely different than the original, but does that mean everybody has to go around calling it Valve's "Mistake"? Heck no it doesn't. I liked it more. Deal with it.

I love this game, but like most Valve games, it doesn't have enough story to completely submerge me into the game.

This is there most different game series from everything else they've done, I really wish that if they make a third one it will have a story that is a bigger part of the game.

The game play is amazing, but that alone is not enough to make me absolutely fall in love with it.

Valve games to me do story better than anyone as they tell it in the game and don't keep taking you out of it with annoying cutscenes. Portal 2 was the best game story of any game in history IMO and it was expertly written and very funny.

I'm not talking about cutscenes, and by the way Portal 2 has at least 3 (depends on how you count them). And I love Valve as well.

I'm just saying its much easier for me to get into a game like......Max Payne. It has just enough backstory, and the actual story in it is awesome. I'm just saying that in this game it doesn't really have an ongoing story from one level to the other, each one is kinda like completely different from anything else, nothing really bridges them

@Mrreebo Well actually that's not true, they do all link together Valve just doesn't show cutscenes of the survivors flying/sailing/driving for hours on end to the next part of the game. Valve has a way of letting the players figure out the back story on their own instead of slamming it in your face with a cutscene and some narrator, they do that with all their games. L4d does have a back story with Ceda, the military, Etc, Just got to pay attention and not rush through the game, Same with Hl2

They do not explain how the helicopter driver got shot, by whom, or why. I looked on the wiki just to find out.

They also didn't explain anywhere that CEDA was the cause of the infection, yet my friend continually insists on that. It's little things like these, that get me more into a game. When I have to look a semi important plot point on a wiki, it pulls me out

@Mrreebo It is in all possibility left to the imagination. After all, watch the commentary to it. They explain why they didn't do a huge five minute helicopter fly in. Even though it was the original concept for it. This game is a game for replay-ability. so a five minute intro every time you chose a level? Not so re-playable.

No Mercy -> Death Toll

You take a helicopter and end up on a highway.

Death Toll -> Dead Air

You take a boat and wind up in a greenhouse.

Dead Air -> Blood Harvest

You take a plane and end up in the middle of a campsite.

These are kinda thrown in through hints, but the average person probably aren't going to pick up on this.

It's weird how L4D2 is much more coherent, yet it is not nearly as great or submersive as the 1st. L4D2 is probably the biggest Valve mistake ever, and it's not even that bad.

Dead Air is just strange. If that's the case, then how the bloody hell did they get so far away from any river, stream, ocean, lake or even tributary.

That level started in a green house. Explain THAT to me. How they got from a boat into a green hose MILES away from any water source

Maybe they were kicked out very quick into that city and then they rushed for shelter, so they went into that building with a green house. I don't know thats my explanation, the entire plot in L4D is practically non-existent anyway all that matters is the gameplay, and it is AWESOME

Call of Duty is ONLY focused on multiplayer. Valve would never sink that low. Valve would actually put a story into a game, especially for people like me, who enjoy single player games much more. However, the story is very disoriented and incoherent.
