  • ITS BULLSHIT ANY MIDI CONTROLLER CN BE HOOKED WITH TORQ I HAVE THE TORQ

  • I'm a DJ and Producer. For live and recording mixes I use Numark Mixtrack that runs off Virtual DJ. Will this work with VDJ as a sampler AND to produce tracks?

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • launchpad plus touchosc on the ipad equals control nirvana

  • launchpad works fine without automap, works great with traktor, and has lots of monome emulation.

  • @plusupforever pirate it like 99 % of people do

  • @plusupforever pirate it like 99% of people do

  • When i click the big pause button, it did realy pause and when i clicked the big play button it really did go on.

  • @DeeJhayBenA lol!

  • i have the lite version of ableton but i cant make a loop, why is this?

  • Does this controller work with Torq 2.0. Has anyone tried it, hooked up to the xponent. Just seems to have lots of buttons that Id love to use for cues, samples and snap shots.

  • is this for pc and mac or just mac because i want to get one but i dont know whether it's pc compatible.

  • @MrBradleyykidd I have a launchpad and pc, works perfectly ;)

  • I'm really stuck on which one to purchase, this or the Akai APC 20

  • Are there things the launchpad can do and the Akai apc-20 not?

Or is the only better thing on the launchpad that it has bigger pads?

Nice video hope you can help me!

  • DOESNT WORK WITH TORQ? serously?

  • does it work with ableton live 6.0 or only 8.0+?

  • ah, deadmau5's weapon of choice!

  • can you make a video on how to work this launchpad with ableton live 8 from the start because i have it all and it cant seem to find the launchpad

  • u dont need to buy that! u can just build your own one u pwn at that!

  • So wait this doesn't come with a software to use it? You have to buy Ableton Live aswell?

  • @ace101guy It comes with a cut down version of Ableton Live.

  • cool

  • hey man the ableton live that came with my launchpad is shit as!

and its the only one that i can seem to get to work with the launchpad

what version are you using in the video?

  • can it be used for serato?

  • @djberealit yup

  • you mentioned that you have problems with collaborate LaunchPad with M-Audio Torq. can you please elaborate what is the problem? i was planning to get Novation LaunchPad connected directly to M-Audio Torq Xponent using a MIDI-USB cable. if you have any ideas, please let me know. it would be a great help for me. thanks!

  • what´s the cord pack control dudes ?

  • Thanks for the review!

  • its a really good product...but ide make sure to have an updated version of ableton, because you basically cant do anything with the launchpad version

  • this is probably a very dumb question but where do you get the clip from? is it on the software?

  • The live 8 version it comes with is the same as full version only the amount of tracks and midi controlers is limited.

  • Novation sell midi controlers with no piano keys just all the editing knobs and buttons that you can use with the launchpad and DAW software.

  • when you buy this for $200, does it come with any software?

  • yeah it comes with a speciel version of live. But its limited

  • @retaxez does this version of live come with all the instruments and synths??

  • @retaxez and some loops

  • It comes with a special edition of Live 8 lite

  • please?

  • What midi controller do you recomend combinding with the launchpad? i want to play entirely live, so i probably need somthing with some knobs to add effects, cuttoff, and fades and such :)

  • Novation Remote 25 SL if you want keys, or the Zero SL if not.

  • That thumb ring make you look like a pigeon...

  • dude clean your laptop display. nasty!!

  • how can we control tempo?

  • I would love some help on this question: can you load you own loops or music onto the software?

  • sorry, im only replying to this because i wud like to know the answer as well :P

  • Yes you can load your loops or music into ableton

  • in my experience the auto map software is a nightmare to use with traktor it seems to create a lot of problems.

  • i use it with traktor pro and novation nocturn and it works flawlessly.

its like any normal midi hardware (in facts, automap sends standard midi messages).

You should download the 3.2 version. I tryed the 1.0 version (bundled with the cd) and it was REALLY bugged. It crashed my pc a few times!

  • I just would like it if Novation went the extra mile and put a midi port on this. I';d gladly pay the extra $50 or so to be able to play this device with hardware.

  • The problem is: the launchpad is designed to work with the Automap software, so it has to be connected to a computer...

So making it compatible with midi hardware would not just mean putting a MIDI OUT port, but re-thinking the complete design.

  • And to make my answer complete to tjs6025:

it's easy to integrate two NOVATION controllers (like yor ZERO SL and the Launchpad) together, using the automap software.

But again, not to control hardware, but daws, soft synths, and so on.

  • Dumb question but how do I integrate it with another midi controller, say a Novation Zero SL? Does the launchpad have a midi in or out port on it? I don't have enough USB ports to run both at the same time (my soundcard is USB)

Would it have killed them to include a midi in out or through port?

  • if they did that it would have made the unit much thicker and i guess less portable... if you look the launchpad only looks to be about 1.5cm thick..

  • get a usb hub, I run loads of midi gear through a usb hub.

  • Just use a usb hub, genius :)

  • I';ve tried a couple different hubs and they can't power any audio equipment. If you have a recomendation of a brand/model I'm all ears.

No joke, the last two hubs I have used couldn't power my Novation Remote 25 Compact (which was suprising) nor my Access Virus Snow (which wasn't as suprising even though it was powered via a power supply; the TI integration simply wouldn't work via USB hub but worked fine via the native port.)

  • Ive got a powered trust usb hub running to a mac. I've got an mpd16, fullsize roland midi controller, m-audio o2, mouse etc.... no problems. Ordered one of these and it will work no problem

  • Just in case you haven't done this, make sure it's a powered hub (it has it's own power cable). Unpowered hubs probably won't work for USB 2 devices that use a good bit of power.

  • I think this is an issue of usb 1.1 vs. usb 2.0

    How old is your computer?

  • can you do live midi (drum machine) patterns and recording on the fly with the APC40 - if you see the Ableton official vido you can do it with Launchpad, but can yuo do teh same with APC40 (I assume you can but have yet to see anyone doing that)

  • what is the price of the launchpad??

  • 200$

  • I want this so bad.

is it good for the studio as well?

  • Another Monome Ripoff. For people complaining about Monome original price, google for Arduinome! Anyway, for the price this is a nice sugestion, unfortunately is a Ripoff, such as Akai Apc

  • It's not really a rip off.. The monome does different things like step sequencers, etc. This was made for Live's session view, it can do some of the same functions as the monome, and the monome can do some of these functions. They just happen to both be grids of buttons/LED's, but were made to do different things..

I think it's more versatile since it has 3 color LED's.

  • Before Monome, etc. There were no input/output devices of this kind. It's similar, starting with the buttons...

  • Nope. This will be able to do anything that the monome can (baring the missing accelerometer functions, of course)

  • Yeah. Like every car is a ripoff of the Benz-Automobile, right?

  • just a shitty ligther imitation of the apc...

  • bus powered, not as clunky, cheaper, and better looking LED's

  • think ill stick to my apc 40. it has knobs,

  • I have MPD24. Launchpad is the greatest addon to my set of MIDI-controllers. APC40 is too big.

  • I really really think they did not put work into this. I mean, have you seen the APC40? Come on...

    I don't like it.

  • It's like half the price of the APC..

  • but it's like 1/7 of an APC...it should be really cheaper for only pads.....

  • great review

  • ill get one when it comes out, wish i could afford the lemur lol

  • 1000 times as expensive.

  • i prefer apc 40

  • @secc991, definitely similar to a monome, about half the price and as far as i can tell it will do everything the monome can do, and more.. I mean, don't you think people are going to release moneme app's for the launchpad?

  • @TtimePoi They have now it is called nonome. It is free.

  • Monome?

  • ...a copycat for the masses.

  • Very nice review showing potential drawbacks, looks like a neat little controller!
