  • I'd heard the QOTSAversion of course, but today, while watching "High Fidelity" I Heard this song playing in the background in the record store and thought to myself "That just aint Queens..."

So I looked around for covers and found this one. I had no idea QOTSA didn't write it, but this is really good. Nevermind this nonsense, it's late. Just wanted to leave a digital fingerprint before bed :)

  • @BourgeoiseParisienne And it was great!

  • Why don't they LOOK happy?

  • @davwms2 They LOOK happy! Look at: 0:44, 1:15 and 1:25! ;D

  • @"Whomever" - Who are the three dingleberries who didn't like this??? :P

  • any of you guys listened to the Queens of the Stone age version. They pull of the song very well. In my opinion they sound very similar. They haven't ruined it.

  • @TheLazyJT Queeners version is very good too.

  • @joydivisionboy1 Yeah tbh I wouldn't have even heard about this song if I hadn't have listened to Queen's version. I was amazed when I found out it was The Kink's song.

  • wen final (good end)

  • "Lets make and perform a song called everybodys gonna be happy and then look like a right bunch of miserable bastards whilst singing it" Great track though!

  • Great song! The handclapping is terribly out of time which, myself being a trained musician, normally I find quite annoying but in this case somehow seems to enhance the partylike atmosphere this song should have anyway.

  • RIP Pete Quaife........

  • 60s at their best

  • The KinKs were never dedicated followers, always did their own thing and that's what made them the greatest band of all time. God save the KinKs!

  • The Kinks are the coolest band in the world.

  • This is one of my favorite Mick Avory videos. That guy is unflappable, LOL.

  • im not sure who i like best kinks beatles or queen

they r my favorite bands and all awsome

kinks r the least famous though

  • @jamreaper I feel like I could have written that comment because those are my three favorite bands! I've been a Queen fan the longest, but I think I have the deepest love and affection for The Kinks! Like you said, all are awesome.

  • awsome

its nice to know that im not the only one out there who likes all 3 of them 8-)

  • This is from Dick Clark's "Where The Action Is".

  • the lads don't look as happy here as they usually do. no massive grins on their faces for a change!

  • Well, as Ray Davies once said, "Oh, the things we did just to get a record contract!"

    : )

  • That's interesting! What did he say? I hope nothing like what Marilyn Monroe said she did.

  • They look really uncomfortable in this setting. The Kinks were always too smart to fit into pop stardom.

  • You're right.

This is like trying to pour them into the Frankie-Avalon beach party mold.

They still came out on top in spite of it.

  • great bass on this one!

  • Not one of the Kinks' better songs, but dang, it's STILL great, LOL!

  • great song

  • 60's back!

  • look how young they are! how old is this video

  • I think its from 1965.

  • I Like the Qotsa version better, because of the slightly different "I Knooooww" line. But I never knew it was a cover, and WHAT. It is almost exactly the same! Crazy

  • Mick always looks bored. That's his schtick. God love him.

  • It seems that in this vdeo, Pete Quaife and Mick Avory look absolutely bored to tears.

  • Gotta love the Swinging Sixties

  • great song but ray davies look scary here wow...

  • Hahaahah, they look so bored!

Those people in the back were really booking it, werent they? Hahahaha

  • Ray has written better songs than this - but it's fun to see the early stuff.

  • That is one sick bass line!

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • ahh Mick's so into it.

haha, aww, I love Pete Quaife. Shucks his hand blocks his face at the end!

  • Oh yeah, Pete is so lovely ^^

  • anyone heard the Queens Of The Stone Age version? I kinda prefer that one 8-)...mainly because it has a weirdo element to it haha

  • Heard it, loved it

  • Sweet. Rickenbackers are awesome. this is one of my favourite songs and im only 14

  • i loved it

    what an awsome band

  • Great song and I like the groovy dancers in the background doin the jerk and the mashed potatoe. I also like 'the teeth' on Ray Davies. They're not "bad",they simply have a space between the middle two. .

  • gave 5 stars for rarity was in punk band in 80s that covered

  • oh yeah, great music.....bad teeth

  • Love the Blatant Lip Sync.... fantastic song. I thinks its one of their best.
