I have a playset with a track exactly like that, but it was NASCAR. It came with two cars also. I don't know if the NASCAR set was exclusive to Target or any store, but it is just like this one except with NASCAR vehicles. The cars in the set get charged the same also.
@marshbjuneb22 Mattel released X-V Racers with NASCAR themes in the late 90's. Recently, there were a similar NASCAR-themed track sets from a different manufacturer. I seen those sets in Toys R Us, Target, and Kmart. The cars were a little bigger than Matchbox, more like the Disney/Pixar-sized Lightning McQueen CARS.
thanks for posting this. the Target employee couldn't tell me, much less show me, how these worked... the box doesn't explain it well either. These seem pretty cool. Can they be used on Hot Wheels tracks or are they too wide?
@1mattwade The Charge 'n Race cars, exclusive to Target, are slightly larger than Hot Wheels and Matchbox and will not fit on regular 1:64 scale track systems.
Does any one else think that this is weird that old grown men are doing these? i do this cause of my little brother...idk about y'all but i think its kinda weird :P
Have you opened up one of the charge ups. From the outside it looks like they're using the Sizzlers long battery. Does a capacitor operate like the setup that they used for the XV-Racers in the 90's. Did not care for those and their short run time. Perhaps they are designed to run for shorter amounts of time to match the shortened attention span of many kids today??? ;) I'm with landofnarnia, I think I'm also going to return the charge ups that I purchased...
@motioneaze If you want to see the motor, check out my video entitled, "The Inside Story: Cars 2 Charge-Ups (Sizzlers) " Sizzlers are cool and fast but they are not very interactive. You charge them for 90 seconds and they run for 2-3 minutes. Sure, they are fun to watch but do you really play with them? With 30 second charges, the Charge Ups ran about a minute (I didn't keep track). As soon as I can, I will see what happens if you charge them longer.
@racegrooves Well if the definition of interactive is "I have to take them off of the track more often and plug them into a machine and hold a button down for 30 seconds", then yes they are more interactive. I watched your video, thanks again, it was very informative. I think it further supports that this product is not well made and is a downgrade from the original Sizzlers brand. I'm glad they changed the name to Charge Ups since they don't appear to deserve to be associated with the original.
@motioneaze i think that HW collectors would be pissed if they used the Sizzlers brand name. They did the same thing with the Speed Racer product line. They had a track set that used the X-V Racers style of charging the racers where you held the cars onto a base to charge it for 15 seconds (or so). They called that released 'Powerburst'. You know, marketers have to keep making things fresh, it's their job. But they made the bases and chargers different so you couldn't use your X-V Racers! Argh!
I love that they're trying to keep the Sizzlers technology alive, but this set is priced at $59.99 at my local Target in California. So each car sells individually for $10 and the charger is $13 so two cars and a charger would be $33 separately. That means I'm paying $27 for a tiny stretch of Fat Track. :(
@motioneaze Agreed. It wouldn't have cost them that much more to have at least four straights, two on each side. But then again, then they would have to add a couple connectors as well. Maybe they can sell the straight-aways separately =)
@racegrooves Thanks for your video. Having missed the 2006 Sizzlers reissue (been kicking myself ever since) I would not have known about this one either if it were not for you. Again, thank you. I already have track and chargers so I just went over and bought a couple of the "Charge-ups" cars. Probably the best way to go if you've already been a Sizzlers aficionado in the past. :)
Yup, my husband picked up the reissued Sizzlers track, cars, charges in 2006, we got ours on clearance at Target. We actually pulled it out of the attic today when we saw the "cars 2" track. It's now set up in the basement for my husband, daughter and son to use . We have 4 sizzlers cars already and 3 chargers. We also picked up 2 of the "Cars 2" cars, but they will be getting returned...they don't run nearly as fast or as long as the sizzlers ones.
@landofnarnia They apparently work off of capacitors, not batteries this time hence the short 30 second charge time. Of course, we can't expect the 2-3 minutes of run time like the Sizzlers because they get a 90 second charge.
Mattel really cheaped out on this set. UGH. I guess it will work fine for kids, but one straight per side???? They could have at least gone "Silver Circuit" and tossed two straights per side in there. But . . . the Sizzlers lineage is being carried on . . .
@worldoftone I was disappointed in just one straight pieces as well but at least you get two cars. But then again, they gave just one Goose Pump to make you go buy the Juice Machine, which in my experience is not as effective as a Goose Pump.
@tdickensheets Yes sir! Just like Sizzlers! But if you check my other Charge ups CARS and read the comments that Hossi wrote, apparently, they don't run on batteries!
@TheMasterLoafer This one was expensive! Over a hundred bucks for all of the stuff! Plus the amount of time gathering it up, shooting and editing the video, etc. At least I recover some of the costs from advertising revenue from youTube. All those views and clicks - Thanks!
racegrooves my favorite formula 1 driver lewis hamilton is voiced in cars 2 but does his car will be sold plz respond fast cuz i got enuff cash to buy few of those cars :D
REALLY REALLY AWESOME!!!!! i have always wanted to get some sizzlers they seem so cool , i never had any of those as a kid it would be nice to have , do the hotwheels sizzlers work on the regular tracks as well?
@racegrooves MAYHEM LOL! Looks like fun! Awesome review...That head on collision looked rather painful..BOOM!! As far as the stickers go, I agree! Painted detail is a definite preference in my book)))
@optihotwheels20 Have you heard about Hot Wheels Sizzlers? As for this set, I have a few more videos that I want to do as indicated by my text at the end of the video. One of which is to race these on longer straight-aways to get better racing and passing.
@123456hotwheels The video was already almost 12 minutes long! I had to leave out a couple scenes just to trim it down LOL! Besides, this video more than explains this set and I will have more videos soon about it. Yes, I will be racing Sizzlers with McQueen as well as making a longer oval. I also want to see if McQueen does better on the 2-cars-wide X-V Racers track. With it being more narrow, I would think that the CARS would be less likely to spin around so much.
u know racegrooves,u really like cars.R u watching it?the charge ups are quite expensive in my country.i think the green one which died is an aston martin.im gonna get the die cast one
@epictheepicguy Yes, they are expensive. But I am getting some advertising revenue when you guys watch my videos and check out some of the advertisements. That helps defray some of the costs.
Too bad about the two defective cars, but all in all, the set is great. Just wish they made the electric Power Pit, makes it so much easier to charge cars. There are so many variations possible with the fat track that most people don't realize. And it allows for passing, going three across, and yes..realistic crashing, just like at the race track. Nice set there Racegrooves. I hope Mattel brings back Sizzlers with the option to buy the old original cars and maybe introduce some new ones!
@formulaonehotwheel Ten bucks each Bubba! If I was a consumer, wait, I am, this sucks! I will see if they work with the previously released Power Pits in a future video.
@stangcrazy89 Unfortunately, the deluxe charger is the only one that is sold separately. I would recommend to people to buy an old sizzlers Goose Pump from eBay. They are easier to push the button to charge the car.
@MongooseBikeRacer I wouldn't be surprised if there are sales and you'll get nicer prices. With the Hot Wheels Sizzers, both the cars and the track sets were available when they went on clearance. I picked up lots of track so that I can make a huge oval =)
@supertoadhayden The Sizzlers set is better in that you get much more track. I didn't really care for this set only containing one straight piece for each side. The straight-away part is fun to watch the cars jockeying for position and trying to pass each other. That's one of the videos that I will do as soon as possible but I have to do it outdoors to set up a longer track.
