  • this video es classic, is so cool and is very fun see peter furler with hair..jejejeje... greetings guys...

  • I think Bonnie likes this song. When she first heard it, she says "I liked it". But i dont know if she still does or not.

  • are the news boys still togather? i love there music im 15 so i head this song the irst time a few months ago

  • @MultiMasterjake They're still together yes. However, the two best guys and frontmen from the band, Peter Furler and Phil Joel, have left. :( The band is not the same without them at all.

  • i have all the wow hits and some on cassett before cds came out, awesome band stikll even if some is new the songs are awesome!

  • Just got the CD today in the mail ^_^

  • This is an...interesting video. I LOVE the song, but the video is...weird. I'm actually kind of glad that Newsboys "went to the modern age" music, if you know what I mean. I'm not saying that this isn't a good song, because I LOVE it, but I really like their more recent music. The type of music in this song isn't as appealing to the people anymore, if you know what I mean.

  • I was in 4th grade when this came out! I remember everyday at school we would sing Newsboys for morning worship in homeroom.

During the end-of-school talent show all the 4th grade girls dragged all the 4th grade boys on stage (7 girls, 3 boys) and danced around them, dressed in tinfoil while singing to this song that was playing on the cassette player! Those were the good times!

  • I got to see these guys perform this song live, and John actually had his spacesuit on as he was singing. After all these years this song still rocks!

  • I love this and love the newsboys! All time favorite band. And the date for the WOW thing on the bottom of the screen said 1997- which is the year I was born yaaay!

  • i remember very vividly watching these guys in a movie when i was like 6 maybe. it was several years ago and i was very little and these guys had stuck their songs in meh head and i like it still :)

  • @idontwannakillu

Newsboys: Down Under The Big Top??

  • this video mad e me giggle XD i love the newsboys! the old newsboys when Peter Furler was in the band ♥

  • what is it that makes it relevant in this clip about them being christian?

  • Let's ask ourselves, when the world sees us, does Christ shine so brightly, that they desire the hope, joy, and love that resides in us? When we squeeze a lemon, we get lemon juice. When we squeeze an orange, we get orange juice. When the world squeezes us, do they get Jesus?

Let your light shine before all men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.

  • If AC/DC was the best secular band from Australia, then Newsboys is by far the best Christian group from there.

  • I love this! Peter is such a scene stealer!!!

  • I haven't heard this song in years, it just popped in my head. So glad I found it on youtube!

  • ahaha! Duncan Phillips looks like a teenager! whoa!

  • @yodawg5911 I think Duncan should dye his hair blonde! HAHAHA! :P

  • @yodawg5911at first i didn't even know it was Duncan 0_0 i thought Duncan's hair was black.

  • They should have tried to bring back the old lead singer instead of bringing in Michael Tait. Tait is a great singer and musician, but the Newsboys is no longer the Newsboys since Peter left the lead job.

  • @Jesusisyhwh I agree Peter Furler was a great leader singer, but Michael Tail brings a fresh feel to the band. Besides, interesting you should say that as a comment on this music video, since Peter didn't even sing lead on most of the "Take Me To Your Leader" album.

  • "Take Me To Your Leader" was the first album (Christian or secular) that I purchased and is still one of my favorite albums of all time.

  • best i love to play this song on guitaur

  • Classic.

  • This band did and does such a great job of getting Jesus' love out there. They are true Christians.

  • this is my favorite song i have all the newsboys songs

  • wow older than i thought it was o_o i thought it was like 2001

  • For an aspiring Atheist, this is quite an ironic song :)

  • omg i miss the original ppl :( i wish they could do a comeback thing or somethin D:

  • i remember when this song was # 1 me and my HS sweetheart went to see them in concert in houston texas and everytime i hear this song and the other ones that the newsboys sung i think of my HS sweetheart!!! MISS YA TJ!!!!

  • childhood memories x10

  • hahaha Look at them!! The 90's was so fun! Now so strange! HAHAHA :D

  • @sailentshadow I know, right? XD Ah being a 90's kid was great..

  • So strange...

  • @jambowowow ok,you're the strange one

  • this song is awsome its a little hard to memerize but its still good. i am a christran and this song is a great way of sort of telling how easy it is to become a christan

  • I lov newsboys and this song brings back good memories of hangin with myy cousins at their house and dancin!

  • I love the Newsboys, but I think this is where they peaked musically. This is the only album with John James and Phil Joel in the band. I wish they stayed together a little while longer. Perhaps one day they will have a reunion with this group. I would not miss that!

  • One of the best songs from the Newsboys!

  • I like phil joel's glasses.

  • PHIL...JOEL...PETER...FURLER...JOHN...JAMES...JODY...DAVIS...JEFF...FRANKENSTIEN...DUNCAN...PHILLIPS...FOR...EVER...

  • This time, during the mid-late 90's was, the only time in the history of Christian music that it was ahead of the curve. Usually the old proverb "If you want to know what will be popular in Christian music 5 years from now, look at the secular pop charts this week." is very true, but for this little speck of time we were on the charts and breaking musical ground.

  • @RichieEastside I would just like to say that the Newsboys have never been a band on any curve....they don't care about the curve....they are the curve! lol...I've never seen them trying to follow anybody's mold, mainstream or christian, and I think that's why they own and will forever!

  • @hbugirl I hear that. Like Elvis WAS the stadium. And he stayed right here. Like the Dirty Dancing song, Stay. Patrick Swayze stayed too. How else did his Dirty Dancing partner win Dancing With The Stars?

  • peter was the drummer I'm surprised/shocked.

  • @albaskateboarding

Peter Furler was originally the drummer and John James was the lead singer of the Newsboys back then until Peter Furler took over as lead singer of the Newsboys later on. :)

  • @AwesomeGirl86 Peter Fuller is actually the founder, John James came a little later. I think its awesome Michael Tait is lead singer now though.

  • @AwesomeGirl86 both peter furler and john james where lead singers just that peter did both sing and drums until john retired

  • such a great song!

  • @blackice9212 oh yeah, i do

  • I am trying to find this song and I do not remember who sings it. It was out around 1997 and the lyrics go something like "to get to know you bettter, to love you more than myself..." does anyone know this Christian band or song?

  • @Phares1225 The song is "Know You Better" by Reality Check.

  • I have that WOW cd. Love it! STILL.

  • I met John James this past week at Creation West. Wow, what a testimony he shared!!! :D This is one of my favorite songs by them :)

  • Navigator Davis

    First Officer Phillips

    Admiral James

    Lieutenant Urry (Phil Joel)

    Captain Furler

    Dr. Frankenstein

  • When I came tot he Lord, the Newsboys were one of the first Christian bands I listened to. And they would be the first Christian band I saw live in concert to... =)

  • The best thing that ever happened to Christian music, a unique, fresh and funky switch from the kind of thing that puts you to sleep with quirky lyrics, catchy tunes and the message of God's love.

  • Looked up Newsboys on Wikipedia. James is the Original Lead singer and was replaced with Peter Furler the bands Drummer. Love how James plays to the Camera in this Video. Looks like They All enjoyed making this Video.

  • I remember watching this video on Z music television, oh the 90's!

  • I really admire people like *Hoganer1990.*

It takes alot of trust and faith to become a christian after atheism:) And what they commented is true. Just pray one day for something and see what happens, i think you will like the results:)

  • I used to listen to this song over and over and over just to memorize the words. Almost 15 yrs later and I STILL remember them all!

  • Same here. Even today (as an atheist, bring on the thumbs down for that if you want), I still love this tune.

  • The only reason you are an atheist is because you are scared to let God in because you think you aren't good enough for the Saviour of the world to ever accept you for who you are. Trust me the Grace of God through His Son Jesus going to the cross is phenomenal and you need to realize it. Jesus died on the cross for all your sins and you can become a Christian... Please realize what I am saying because I used to be an "atheist" but now I am a born again believer. It is true.

  • Hoganer1990 Faith makes all the difference, doesn't it? Well said !!

  • @Hoganer1990 Well. One could pray all they want, but unless the Holy Spirit reveals the Son...Yes that is scriptural. Look it up. It's because of this that back up the "pre-destination" creed which I don't believe in. Personally, I think if somebody truly want's God, He's there waiting, willing and very able to wash them clean. But anyway...

  • @NeoDolph1n

Glad to see I am not the only one who feels this way. My days of religion are over but the music I enjoyed during that time still sounds good to me today.

  • @basspro1972 laughs. religion is boring. I dont do religion. My life is striving for a Relationchip with the MOST HIGH GOD;)

  • @deathsonlyson Yeah :-)

  • @deathsonlyson best comment ever :)

  • My sentiments exactly. Atheists can totally enjoy music like this. it takes me back . :)

  • @mesupermommy i remember goin to their concert back in the 90s. san luis obispo. i was little back then. but i remember the drum solo, the praying, the rabid fan chicks, and the outro to the concert. good times. :)

  • @mesupermommy lol thats funny...I memorized them in 3 days...it was difficult

  • @mesupermommy when i first herd this song i diddnt understand the song words till i looked them up on msn and found the lyrics

  • good song.

  • phil joel is sooo cute! i love his singing and his hair!

  • The best song newsboys ever did.

  • This was the first song I ever heard from them (either that or "Breakfast") and it's still one of the best!

  • Perhaps the greatest song of all time.

  • yeah! there awesome!

  • do these men follow Jesus?

  • They do indeed!

  • What do you mean? If you want to know if they are a Christian band then the answer is definitely yes. If you want to know if they have personally devoted their whole beings to God, you would have to know them personally to find out, but it seems likely to me that they are trying as hard for that as any of us.

  • @timonator14 ABSOLUTELY!! WELL PUT FRIEND!! NONE OF US ARE PERFECT AND WE ALL SCREW UP!!

  • @timonator14 i stiil dont understand what this song means

  • @MultiMasterjake It's talking about unsaved people asking Christians to help them get saved.... aka "Take me to your leader."

  • great song!

  • what?

  • this is the best song of newsboys!

  • I'm sure it's a difficult profession

  • The Newsboys' best song... ever!

  • theyve got too many good ones i cant decide... if you want to see the biggest collection of NB songs listen to my playlist

  • They became a band in 1985 and Peter Furler, and John James came up with the idea and john dropped out to do his own thing and peter took the stand and duncan came in as the drummer and not long after that jeff dropped out of wayne state university to become the keyboards/and bass, then jody left to take care of his daugther then phil came and went jody came back, peter unfortunately left because he was tired of tours and Micheal tait from DCtalk is now the lead singer of The Newsboys. =)

  • and i know a bunch of people are mad that micheal tait is the new lead singer, but i just saw newsboys this summer WITH michael tait, and he is so legit!! in my opinion. dont worry longtime newsboys fans, your fave band has MOS DEF NOT been ruined. :))

  • Michael Tait as in Tait from DC Talk? That sounds to me like the two greatest bands in the Christian rock/pop world coming together. I wouldn't call it a step back at all!

  • it won't be the same

  • The reason why John James left is because He had severe marriage problems!! He was so addicted to fame and the money during His career that he also fell away from God. He also had been addicted to drugs and alcohol. He's living for God now!!

  • Wow, I have not seen this video since 1996 or 1997 when I first heard of the Newsboys! This takes me way back... great memories. Somewhat sad to see that none of the original lineup are with the band anymore.

  • Well, true. When they started in the mid to late 80's, Peter and John were the only ones still with the Newsboys. But, Duncan, Jeff, and Jody are still with the Newsboys....they're pretty much close to the original line up. lol...in my book. Don't know if it's gonna be the same. I like Michael...love him...it's just different.

  • Yeah, by original lineup I was referring to Peter and John.

@mrfurious: Much agreed on your opinion of Jody Davis' contributions to Going Public and Take Met to Your Leader! Great stuff!

  • i was able to see john, the former lead singer at wave conference this year!

  • its 2009 now! and this song wuz like there huge hit amazing vid lol

  • I used to follow these guys like they were NSYNC!! I liked Phil, "the one with the hair".

  • rminds me much of collective soul-- i like this its great

  • admiral james is my fav i love when he is spinning in his flower and he like is doing wierd things with his hands

  • I love it when they all jump around ^^

  • Navigator Davis is my favorite :) I love Jody!

  • He is from my home town! :)

  • Goodness, Jeff looks sooo young! I know that he was 20 when he joined NB but WHOW!

  • 20? Are you serious?? Wow, I never knew that. I knew he was the youngest but never that young when he joined.

  • newsboys is never going to be the same without peter he is newsboys to me. this music video makes no sense i get the fact that they're aliens and stuff but it's just kind of weird

  • lol i know i feel teh same way about all their vids!

  • Man John James is a great guy, very passionate about God!

  • I love how Duncan is just rocking out on the bongos LOL

  • the newsboys rock.

  • Oh man, I just love this video :P

  • its alright man everyone gets that but yea peter left after the album in the hands of God. i still believe in tait though

  • wait .. tait is with Newsboys? (reads back comments and googles on this!) *shocked* Peters gone? man im out of news on the newsboys =/

  • no pun intended

  • Jody is still with the band so maybe he and Tait will share the role...plus Peter isnt leaving for good...he is still going to make special apperances on tour and continue to write and produce for them....

  • Jody actually left for awhile but now he is back.

  • LOLZ!!! That's hilarious! I heard this on K-LOVE the other day and I had to find it. Wonderful!!! :D

  • Clever lyrics courtesy of the inimitable Steve Taylor.

  • man i think they were one of the best christian bands of the 90s....so many memories!!!

  • Yeah I was practically raised on these guys! A few weeks ago I actually heard them play Not Stand Silent from Boys Will Be Boyz on Pandora Radio. I was only 4 when that cd came out! Hahahaha!

  • yes i've been listening to the newboys since i was about 9 and "take me to your leader" was the first cd i bought of thiers back in 1996!

  • Tait is a great singer but the newsboys and him have totally different creative outputs. Tait might want to do something this way but the band wants to go this way. The newsboys act as a whole unit, when one is gone you can tell, their incomplete at the moment.

  • I like Tait...nothing wrong with him. I just don't feel this is the "mold" for him and that's not being hateful.

    Bring back Peter!!!!! = )

  • This song rocks! I can't believe how old it is! lol. I used to listen to it like all the time. And somehow this morning it just popped into my head out of the blue!

  • This and Breakfast are my favorite songs!

  • Nothing quite says 90's any better.

  • omg this song owns.

  • my 28 year old bros fav song

  • This is one of my favorite videos of theirs. Back when newsboys were newsboys...and dctalk was dctalk :P As nature intended ;) LOL!

Thanks for posting this vid! :-D

  • YAY I totally remember this song lol

  • man I wish they would have brought back John James, but Tait should work out well

  • What's wrong with Tait, you negative commenters

  • i probably had this hole album memorized by the time i was 5

  • I still like this song ever since I was 5

  • This album was my childhood

  • i like this song but who agrees with me that their song Breakfast is way better!?♥

  • Breakfast used to be my fave song...that was before I heard Something Beautiful tho :)

  • Both are good but I like this one better.

Probably cuz I've known this song since I was little, and only recently (like a week ago) heard Breakfast. Breakfast is growing on me, but I still like Take Me to Your Leader better. :]

  • What no one for Cup o' Tea?

  • memories. Love their lyrics. Simple but powerful.

  • ah back when christian music had people we could call awesome...

  • seen them @ spirit west coast.... they were awesome love their music!

  • Im Going WIth My Youth Group To See Them 2marrow In Pa!

  • thanks for the trip down memory lane...i sill like shine better but this one is still one of my favorites.

  • I love this song make me think back to when i was young times were good then

  • Me too!!!

  • hehe Great video and even better song!!!

  • I love this song! ^_^.

  • I loved this song when I was little!(lol)

  • I won tickets to their concert on the radio with this song!!!

  • um. it was good lol. i wont 2 fly now lol.

  • look at urry's glasses. They're bigger than FRED'S.

  • ....he kinda creeeeeeeeeeeeeeps me out...

    graet lyrics and tune though!

  • LOL. I didn't even know a video for this song existed. I've always wanted a visual to this crazy song, and they delivered. John James is just straight-up wacky!

  • ¡¡¡ʍou dıɥs ǝɔɐds ɐ oʇuı oƃ oʇ ʇuɐʍ ı

I want to go into a space ship now!!!

  • wow! how do you do that writing???

  • how do you do dat upside downy thing?

  • memories.

  • i have this VHS! wow 1997? to prove it..on the cover the ...person..albums are steven curtis Chapman Audio adrenaline newsboys dc talk michal w smith carman rebecca st james( and two bonus videos from third day and jacki velasquez ) ..to think third day was "new" back then....
  • peter is better than jhon james!!!! of course!!

  • The band was never quite the same after John James left. They definitely hit their peak with this album.

  • what is John James at today?

  • Did John James or Peter Furler sing the actual studio lead vocals on this song? Because I know they split studio vocals for a while. I think it's weird how they worked all of that stuff.

  • John James sang the verses for this song, but Phil Joel sang the leads on the chorus.

  • This is my favorate music video of the Newsboys

  • The band looks so difrent now they rock best band ever!!!!!!

I love there mix of musical styles with Christ!!!!!

  • they must of been really creative its really cool

  • I really like how the Newsboys keep their music fresh through the years. I like Third Day but the last 3 albums all kind of sound the same. Growing up I was into Van Halen, Motley Crue, and Metallica, so when I gave my life to Christ, I was thankful for music like this to help me keep my sanity! I just cannot listen to the Gaithers or the like and not want to change the dial. Long Live the Rock!

  • These guys are so good! i still have this music video on VHS. old and amazing! they still got rock

  • Aw man, I LOVED this song/video back in the day. This brings back memories.

  • i miss these guys old sound but theyre still awesome

  • I think they'd be good @ break dancing. =D lol

    awesome song!

  • man its been 4ever since iv seen this vid lol love it
