"Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason because it attempts to make it a CRIME out of things that are NOT crimes by legislating man's appetite!" TOTALLY AGREED!!! LEGALIZE IT!!!
For sure I want to make clear I am for legalization of marijuana, it should never have been forbidden as the gift of GOD it was, but it's the same as the teachings and knowledge of Shamans as well as other teachers who were very particular about who receives it. As for our nation our domestic terrorists are not able to hide any longer and their list of 'secrets' are being revealed.
He would be a great politician - very little original idea, but can talk with great excitement quoting famous thinkers, and rehashing platitudes, and is personable. Talented at mashing thoughts.
When Sagan said "we are a way for the cosmos to know itself," did he mean "know" in the biblical sense? Because, honestly, that's the way it feels sometimes.

@ZippyLeroux watch the video again, even the studies that he cited in the latter part of the interview clearly stated that the evidence showed "some" people benefited from marijuana not "all". You seem to be the type of person that doesn't get no creative or positive stimulating benefits from cannabis, that's unfortunate. But don't you dare regulate something that increases my enjoyment of life, well-being and creativity, be an adult and thread your own path to happiness and don't block mines.

I've smoked my fair share of weed and tripped a couple of times on Acid and shrooms. This guy seems like a good guy, but i don't really like how he is advocating psychedelics when he hasn't experienced them. I also don't understand how he can compare Marijuana to LSD, that's entirely moronic, they're so vastly different. I think this guy is going to get a real shock when he steps up to the hard psychedelics.
@AcousticJuice93 I've done both, and there most definetly IS a connection between Marijuana and psychedelics. It is simply a much lighter and less intense "trip" or experiance than either Lsd or Mushrooms, and they are different, but they are not entirely seperate things. Although having done Lsd I would agree that he does seem to advocate it a little too strongly in that it is not always a mind expanding experiance for everyone
Writing, a new technology? In the time of Socrates? And when it comes to music, "the musical mind," came first, then we learned how to put these impulses down on paper. It's just the other way around with 3D (in the Avatar way), f.ex, this doesn't do anything new actually, neither does the internet. It's just more practical. I think he's being a bit too enthusiastic. And what's with his macrobrain idea? Should we all just become nodes in one big machine? He needs to stop watching sci-fi.
This guy looks like he is stoned out of his mind. There is no evolution. Only through the Christian Ethic of Free Markets and the natural transference of knowledge since the Flood of Noah have we increased Knowledge and come to this point. The soul of man is still wicked and corrupt. The advancement of transferred Tech is a natural innate occurance of mankind. Mankind is still depraved and lost. Jesus is mankinds only hope. Without a Godly ethic Knowledge will be used eventually to enslave.
@mikewazowski333 Tech is just a tool, it does not change the Nature of man. This is seen with all forms of Knowledge that relate to either transferrence of Ideas or the implementation or creation(manufature) of those Idea into the tangible. It is the Pilot (human) that controls the Tech and what it is used for and what HIs/her Ethics are that determine the Use for the Good of Humanity or the Bad. Guns can be used to save life or take it away. The Ethic is all that matters at that point.
@colynbrown So how else is he supposed to mention the names of the authors and philosophers that he references? It's not name dropping unless you're trying to show somebody up or impress them, and that's not what he's doing.
Legalizing weed and celebrating it's greatness worldwide is just part of the evolution humanity will undergo. If it doesn't happen soon, it'll happen eventually. People are waking up and they will only continue to wake up

"There's a special kind of nerd though who thinks computers will overtake mankind in 30 years...ignoring the third of the world without electricity. So the singularity is the nerd way of saying, "In the future, being rich and white will be even more awesome." Its flying car bullshit...surely we're the ones who will get to live in the future. It gives spiritual significance to technology...gives nerds something to obsess about that isn't the crushing vacuousness of their lives."
@jessedogden I would agree if we were limited by our current style of government and social structure (capitalism).
However, if we overcome our governments patriotic nature with a radical regime change (as big of a leap as this may seem), then we could easily provide electricity to the rest of the world.
You check out the "one laptop per child" mission, it's really not that difficult to get everyone on the planet connected to the internet.
@fagpint Designing complex technological systems, building them and debugging them does not arise from free association. They arise primarily from concentrated orderly thinking which can't happen when you are stoned. You may THINK that you are having all kinds of profound thoughts when you are stoned but you aren't.
Yeah thanks to crashed ufos we have jumped a couple thousand years or so ahead in technology, if it weren't for that we would still be working with vacuum tubes.lol..
We are a very young species. Modern man has existed for ~200,000 years. We are only just now becoming like gods. "People are always scared of new technology." - Our ancestors would consider our technology as "magic." They would think we were all servants of the "devil."
Yeah society needs to be high on drugs like it's perfecting itself on the level of drugs it uses now. By all means people should do as they please I agree, but smoke dope and drink and have another cigarette, we'll see where you're at in 10 or 15 years mentally and physically. Knowledge does not equate intelligence, he'd be better of saying read more books that are not fiction and everything in moderation. Rather he talks about drug use as a good thing without seeing firsthand what it does.
The arrogance of young white males with a bit of knowledge. "In the last 100 years we have accrued more change than a million years" yet we are still driven by the same limbic drives as our primitive predecessors. What a jackass. "Things" better the quality of life for a limited few. Humanity has not evolved, that punk is no better than an ape that can work the machine to get the grape. While it knows how to work a machine, he's still just an ape. He's a fast talking huckster talking shit.
@evitanigaminU What's not to get? How the "cult of the newthing" only displaces true newness? Newness of inner thought and development? Things only externalize the supposed evolution. Has any of the electronic media (except for the the interconnectivity of the web) brought humans closer, made us better? Even quantum physics haven't made humanity better. Externalized things don't, not really. Maybe if he took acid or 'shrooms I might respect him more. Until then...
I have ceased to be enamored with the evangelists of "progress." I can't get excited over people who buzz with electricity over wednesday, simply because it is not tuesday. Futurists do not "view the future" they speculate about it. This entire notion is filled with vagueries, like most of the ramblings of the thc-enhanced class.
@Seiku No were listening. According to him we evolved but are at the end of that road and don't need to evolve any further. Thats like saying were perfect and the arrogance of that is astonishing. He also said the people who invented and developed the PC we have today were clearly tripping balls and thats the only reason they thought of it to begin with. Maybe its you who cannot discern his actual claims from all the existential bullshit its frosted with.
@riku98523 Yes its exactly what he said and alow me to facepalm instead. Listen to him. Talking on a telephone is telepathy. Its isn't voice capture and broadcast. Existentially its telepathy. The interview looks bored because he knows how full of shit this guy is.
@Vlaxitov I think you misinterpreted his point on evolution. He mentioned the break through in genome research & technology, better understanding and manipulation of genomes that change our bodies, so in a sense that halts "natural evolution". There is a whole TEDtalk video all about that. I don't know anything about the PC history so I can't comment and I made the comment before watching half way through the video but I think people are quick to criticize without considering other perspectives.
@Seiku So you really want some other monkey kicking his clumsy ass feet around in your family's genepool just because he can? I'll take a pass on that, likely so would you, so would this jason silva when it comes down to it. We will never do a better job than god or mother nature take your pick. TEDtalk has no merit, they support supported and advertised bill gate's plan to go to 3rd world countries and sterilize the unworthy. I'll stick to real science rather than science fiction but thanks.
@Vlaxitov Hold on there. I didn't mentioned my position whether people should or not and I never mentioned the credibility of the Ted organization. I only mentioned that there was a video on the subject of Genome research and technology that was recently presented. watch?v=u8bsCiq6hvM (this is the link)
In my opinion, If people want to use new types of out of the box technology to combat disease and disabilities, then I think individuals should have a right to explore those posibilities.
Drugs helped this guy being interviewed become a god in his own mind thats for sure. BTW, valley girls can easily ramble at the pace this guys does. That doesen't make him intelligent.
Have you never experienced enthusiasm? The amount of information in his mind and how interesting it is to him (no one said you had to be interested in this information) and the the dying need his personality type puts on him to attempt to get other people interested in what he is interested in is what causes him to speak this fast. Many intelligent people talk like this because their minds are racing with all the information they have going through them.
@Illadelphism No, it only shows the effort I'm willing to go in an exchange with someone like you. That was a really fucking lame comeback and you know it. Love ya bye. :D
"The lack of humility before nature that's being displayed here staggers me...your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they COULD that they didn't stop to think if they SHOULD."
omf looks like mr sheens tigerblood is common amongst the too well to do. As if he hasnt had strong acid, bad lier. This guy is off his head, but thats ok? ok, absolutley a pleasure, oh yeah, rofl, stoners with mooney and influence, excellent
10:48 The "guys that discovered the DNA molecule" weren't actually guys... Crick's use of acid just goes to show that some people who trip on acid steal other people's work (look up Rosalind Franklin) without properly crediting them.
Kind of nutty, but interesting nonetheless. I do have a fascination with the internet, I view it as humanity's metabrain. Not that it's conscious, but it has remarkable resemblances to an organism. It's a sort of a techno-gaia thing, and it makes me very glad I will live to see the internet evolve over the next few decades.
As for drugs, I am in favor of legalization but caution the use of drugs. Definitely only use in a controlled setting, and don't forget sober creativity.
There is no unique idea you can have on drugs that can't be thought of without them. Drugs do not enlighten, they may inspire, but inspiration can easily come from sources that do no bodily or mental damage.
@astroman2006 that could be argued. In the end neither side (drugs make you think things you wouldn't if you weren't on them/ Drugs don't do as mentioned above) could actually be proven 100%
@astroman2006 Who made you the expert, astro boy? I'm guessing you wouldn't know from experience, but your opinion has to come from somewhere... think about that.
" Drugs do not enlighten, they may inspire, but inspiration can easily come from sources that do no bodily or mental damage."
Most psychedelics have been shown to cause no harm to the body and very little or no harm to the mind. If you had educated yourself on the subject you would not have claimed that drugs could not be enlightening.
The engineers were not "tripping" when they had the ideas to invent. If you read "iWoz" by Steve Wozniak, Wozniak was very clear that he did not take drugs.
Where is the evidence that Charles Babbage, Douglas Engelbart, Alan Turing, John von Neumann, Seymour Cray or Bill Gates did drugs?

7:32 Democratization of information that has happened with the internet...
Whoah! back the truck up...
anarchization is what the internet is doing to information...
As soon as you inject the word democracy... you are advocating majority rule which is oppression of the minority.
The only way the internet will survive and thrive is if it remains anarchic and symbiotic.

Lol that's not what he was saying at all geeze can I facepalm any harder?
riku98523 4 months ago
@riku98523 Yes its exactly what he said and alow me to facepalm instead. Listen to him. Talking on a telephone is telepathy. Its isn't voice capture and broadcast. Existentially its telepathy. The interview looks bored because he knows how full of shit this guy is.
Vlaxitov 4 months ago
@Vlaxitov I think you misinterpreted his point on evolution. He mentioned the break through in genome research & technology, better understanding and manipulation of genomes that change our bodies, so in a sense that halts "natural evolution". There is a whole TEDtalk video all about that. I don't know anything about the PC history so I can't comment and I made the comment before watching half way through the video but I think people are quick to criticize without considering other perspectives.
Seiku 4 months ago
@Seiku So you really want some other monkey kicking his clumsy ass feet around in your family's genepool just because he can? I'll take a pass on that, likely so would you, so would this jason silva when it comes down to it. We will never do a better job than god or mother nature take your pick. TEDtalk has no merit, they support supported and advertised bill gate's plan to go to 3rd world countries and sterilize the unworthy. I'll stick to real science rather than science fiction but thanks.
Vlaxitov 4 months ago
@Vlaxitov Hold on there. I didn't mentioned my position whether people should or not and I never mentioned the credibility of the Ted organization. I only mentioned that there was a video on the subject of Genome research and technology that was recently presented. watch?v=u8bsCiq6hvM (this is the link)
In my opinion, If people want to use new types of out of the box technology to combat disease and disabilities, then I think individuals should have a right to explore those posibilities.

Have you never experienced enthusiasm? The amount of information in his mind and how interesting it is to him (no one said you had to be interested in this information) and the the dying need his personality type puts on him to attempt to get other people interested in what he is interested in is what causes him to speak this fast. Many intelligent people talk like this because their minds are racing with all the information they have going through them.

funniest thing is that he's apparently serious?

Drugs do not enlighten, they may inspire, but inspiration can easily come from sources that do no bodily or mental damage.
astroman2006 4 months ago
@astroman2006 that could be argued. In the end neither side (drugs make you think things you wouldn't if you weren't on them/ Drugs don't do as mentioned above) could actually be proven 100%

This guy has no idea about computer history.
