Neotokyo takes MUCH more skill than CS:S, and also graphics wise, this mod has pretty much the best graphics ever for it's version of the Source engine. This mod is also very complex in terms of tactics, which in Counter Strike's case, you just buy an AK-47 and run over to your enemies and unload your whole magazine on them while your buddies do the same. You should honestly play it more and study before you make a review
first of all you can't judge the visuals without judging the audio. sound is a very important aspect in any game. second, why add the category longetivity when you're not using it? besides that, good review. im gonna try this game now
yeah well as far as i can see in ALL gameplay foots ive seen, the recoil scatters are so unpredictable. like random? which makes aiming auto-weps harder.
Very nice review. I liked how you were open to what other people look for in games, so you still gave a subjective view on it without being completely closed minded.
One thing I would question you on though was...your 7/10 for the graphics? I mean sheesh, talk about high standards? For such an old engine too, you can really see the amount of time they put into its maps to create a fitting cyberpunk ambiance.
@QwoPhasaArius xD Yeah, I was grading it on the current gen games that were out at the time. I should have been a bit more acceptional knowing that it's running the same engine that Source is. Graphics shouldn't matter anyways. # ^^
Hi !!the game seems kind of cool ,nice weapons, but... its about time to forget the crapy cross air. There r good ex. of games w/o it .Thats y TC:E rules ,(very)low system requirements game engine, replicas of real weapons, good in tactical and strategy .
to add-on the update to this game removed that 2nd best sniper and made it silenced instead, added a bunch of awesome maps and balanced it.
communication and situational awareness is very important to this game so if your not used to teamplay you'll have to get used to that, also joining a squad(5 or if full 6) as you see in the upper left part of the hud is extremely important as it shows your teammates across the map and helps in identifying when in thermal, motion vision,by a icon.
I believe it's more realistic in damage and movement and viewing simply because in real life you can't bunny hop, you don't know where the F*** your being shot from and with thermal vision unless very close you can't tell wtf is your team mate from an enemy
Its like counter strike but for dumb people?! Are you kidding me? People who try and play this from CS don't have the slightest clue whats going on. So how is it for dumb people?
@TheHathaway I agree...a lot of people don't like CS because of the steep learning curve...but that's why they don't like it. No one leaves cause it's too easy haha
Motion vision is the one vision mode you'll love at first and then start to hate as you realize that people who are cloaked and standing still are COMPLETELY invisible to you.
Thermal vision is the best one as cloaked players are always visible, although black against dark purple can be pretty hard to spot in some areas.
Nightvision is helpful at times but generally useless.
You can boost-jump as recon to use 45 aux power per jump. When you're running (with shift down) then jump, and you'll be propelled forward like a long jump in hl2.
Playing properly as recon this game is much faster than cs. The other classes are more like cs and support is alot slower, a bit like ghost recon or somesuch.
the night vision was ment for when recon takes their hidden paths, however since there is only three levels with that its kinda pointless (much like the alt fire button the only works on two weapons). i use the night vision in quick flashes of 2 seconds in maps that are really bright as anything even slightly non object will become instantly black thus conviently pointing out the enemy. kinda like reverse thermals.
I love this game. I discovered it about a week ago and in addicted to it. I never really got in to ccs so I was a bit dubious about playing this game for the first time coz I dont really like ccs. After rebinding the keys to my game style I found it so easy to pick up and learn how to play. I loved this game from the start and I would recommend it to everyone
Nightvision isn't really useless, it just takes a lot of time to learn how to properly use. And by "a lot of time," I mean you'll probably have to play each map a lot as recon to fully understand it. I've been playing Neotokyo for a few months now (I am a playtester for the game), and only recently began to understand, truly, how useful nightvision is.
Recon auxiliary power is used up when you use the leap ability, by running and jumping at the same time. This lets you get into otherwise inaccessible areas and flank enemies.
How long you can play a game before you get bored of it. The reason why I didn't rate that part, is because it's very different than most FPS games and some people won't get into it at all, some will play for a while here and there, and some will play a lot. It's all about opinion, so I decided, in the end, to leave it out.
hey dude if you think the default css maps are bland i would suggest playing de_wanda or cs_wanda w,e

Oh and it's also sort of sad you used the SRS.....
it's a noob gun, same as the AA13, just as bad as CS:S's AWP. (AKA the AWM irl.)

i played this for a 2 hours today, it's pretty lame IN MY OPINION (flame me for my opinion and you're an idiot) and it definitely feels like a mod.

it's a tactical shooter, and you use sprint when you're on the run.

Very nice for a first game review. Although, this is like the first public release of it, and they have many more things to do with it.
Also, recons are supposed to have unlimited sprint that's why aux power doesn't go down.
