OK To tell you the truth.. it would make MORE sense if you didnt have armor.. you would die instantly after.. 1 shot.. If you DO have armor.. it would be able to take a certain amount of hits.
After watching this, pretty much decided not to get Stargate Worlds, there is no reason to add in all these things, they're doing to Stargate what Sony did to Starwars. I guess its just easier to make silly suits of armour and equipment than interesting and creative storylines to keep the player interested.
Why not have both? While the art team is working on armor, I bet there's story and gameplay teams working on the "interesting and creative storylines" you want.
I don't see how they could have avoided this. When they get shot in the series, they don't shake it off and keep on running. This is an MMO, it cannot function with a 1 hit and you're out system. I think this was a perfectly good way to make a "hit points" system somewhat plausible.
There would have been a couple of ways, make it easy to die for instance, but also super easy for medic to resurect etc making teamwork essential. It just annoys me that they take this route so early. When the game becomes nothing more than kit collecting, it kind of shits me off.
I can relate to what you're saying. But if going the die/res route you then effectively wipe out the single player aspect. As you say, it's early. There's no telling how they might change/tweak it before release. I'm having a hard time imagining a system that would work better than armor though. The canon definitely supports the technology in general (ref: Kull). Add some back story and it should gel with the lore.
welcome to the world of mmoRPgs. That's one of the essential parts in an MMO. Collect stuff, get better stuff. "show off your epic gear". Not implementing that would have made the game more like yet another shooter.
As much as I love the look of what they art team has done with the AA...I don't think it is Stargate-Human tech enough. I would have much rather have seen ABUs/Flightsuits/BDUs and some sort of energy device attached to the player's vest than what we are getting. I understand the concept, but I fail to see how that is Stargate. 10+ seasons, 2 shows, and 3 movies and you go and change the art style of the humans this much? Not pleased, but I can live with it. Most fans will.

TBH I don't really like the idea of collecting different types of armour because that way it will surely get boring, just like WoW did.

i'd love to see an upgrade for it that changes the energy absobtion into a shield device on the armor
