Just look at this video, they had so much fucking potential. Wish Moore or even Sherinian never leaved the band. You can't even compare the terrible songs they started writing post 2000 to this beauty.
James LaBrie was given his magical voice from the music gods themselves. Sadly, he was stripped of his amazing power for the gods were to fearful that he would become greater than them (Which he was). Now, James LaBrie is a simple human (but still an amazing vocalist).
"A Change Of Seasonings in Hell's Kitchen? Take The Thyme, The Best Of Thymes, Raise The Knife, Light The Fuse And Get Away. Sprinkle on some pizza. Bam! A Fortune In Pies! fuck Jimmy Page. this has the greatest guitar solo of all time. Why did they cut that from the album? Maybe so people who were not prepared for such awesomeness wouldn't die.
Since when does Eddie Vedder play keyboards?!?! (Look at the Even Flow vid and PROVE ME WRONG) But as opposed to many bands of the era, they managed not to look lame, Im excusing the guitar, but hey, its Dream Theatre. You can be blind and tastless and youd still like em.
Different style, but I find those who like Tool tend to like Dream Theater as well and vice versa. They're both highly technical, progressive rock bands. And both have musicians that make me sad to call myself one.
@DreamTheaterisGod1 You are clearly a loyal fan as I am. Petrucci is brilliant, no doubt. However, I don't think it's even debatable....Joe is clearly deeper and better. .
@LapseAttack that makes a lot of sense! Yeah I know Puppies on Acid (it's on Once In a Livetime), I just didn't know they were already playing it back in 93! Thanks!
@thehuntz1 he's playing an Ibanez RG. They sound really bright even with humbuckers, and he's not using that much distortion. And i think the middle position splitted the coil in his signature model
@qcjefftqc Oh that's cool. I figured he just had push pull pots like my schecter. Now that I thought about it I think I remember him saying something about the middle position and the coils in one of his videos.
@rickyjshiznit *in reponse to qcjefftqc telling me that in the middle position, only 1 coil is being used from each pickup* "Oh that's cool. I figured he just had push pull pots like my schecter. Now that I thought about it I think I remember him saying something about the middle position and the coils in one of his videos."
@alvarocr210 you're right, but what is 0:00 to 0:06 then??? I think that has to be from the Tokyo 95 vid, but not all of the videos are up (you can find Erotomania from that show). Someone needs to put it up though, too kickass!!!!!!
@freetrader0000 He got food poisening and ripped his vocal chords, i think just before the tour for Awake in 95 in japan. He said he didnt recover until 2002, and wastn until after Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance he realised his was fully healed
I remember this being the first video I favourited. It got taken down but it had the intro and the end of the song. I just rediscovered it tonight without seeing or hearing this performance in a few years. Cheers for the upload.
